Re. the stalliing problem, I've just (today) fitted a "booster plug" to my 700gs which seems to solve the problem. There is no other bike that combines sensible weight with decent power, particularly if you prefer 2 cylinders. At the age of 72 I don't expect to get any other bike. Loved the 800/1000/1150/1200 GSs that I owned but this bike works just fine.

steam ixion Thanks for the comment. I rode this bike yesterday and loved it. I agree with your assessment. What is a booster plug? I’m off to Google.

Great video! We have loved our F700, it has taken us 2up touring and camping all over the place and hasn’t struggled at all, great versatile bike 😎🏍🤙

I have the 2017 version and I love it. The Swiss Army knife of motorcycles. Been on long cross country rides with comfort and some off road rides. No stalling issues that wasn't my fault.😉

Kim Ringer Thanks for the comment. The more I ride it, the better it gets. Still a bit too vanilla for my taste. Great tourer though. Just to be clear, I didn't say stalling wasn't my fault, just wanted to point out the lack of feedback from the engine, which is what I rely on to act/react. What country did you cross? How was it off-road? What kind of terrain? Am eager to try it off-road. Ride safe. If you haven't already, please consider subscribing.

Charlie Clay Nice! Ostra Grey... so 2013/2014? When do you pick it up? I've been putting more miles on mine, it gets more manageable with every ride. Almost dirt bike in feel now.

tomorrow as long as the paperwork goes well! my first bike was a KLR 650 and i already get a feeling on the test ride this is so much more capable for being just as versatile. unlike the KLR, i can straddle flat foot at 5'7" ...

Richard, you remark starting at 4:05 something to the effect that at extremely low revs in a higher gear, the engine will just stop and that can happen at 40 mph and the rear wheel will just lock up. Please tell us what you are talking about.

William Dickerson Thanks for the comment. I was talking about how the engine is so smooth and quiet, that it gives hardly any feedback to the rider (either in sound or vibrations). In one respect, this is amazing. In another, it is concerning. Because of this feature, you can easily stall in any gear - for example: in 4th gear around 40mph. The instrument display has a huge gear selector indicator (the largest item on the display) - It is my estimation, that this is so large to remind the rider of their selected gear. There are a couple of videos I've seen online of BMW riders stalling and falling over. At first I thought it was just my fault (which of course it was - what me being the operator) whoever, I watched a video of a BMW rider climbing the Hardknott Pass in the UK and his bike stalled in 3rd gear and fell over. The rider was caught off guard as the bike didn't protest in the least before shutting off. The long and the short, is you have to ride the F700GS different than other bikes that give lots of physical and auditory feedback from the engine (most every bike I've ridden). Hope that is clear. If not, I'll try my best to explain in a different way. Do you own one? Are you looking for one? I have a ride on review of the F800GS coming in the next couple of weeks. Stay Tuned. All the best.

From owning a 800 I so related to that comment. Super smooth and pulls power from I have no idea even if the revs are really low. This lends toward maybe spacing what gear you are in.

I agree with your comment about the bike just stalling, I had the previous bmw 650 gs,and it just cut out and stalled when I was turning right, and I dropped it,I didn't own it long, traded it in for a tiger 800,which as a far more touquey engine.

Kevin Westwood Glad some one out there acknowledges this "feature". I've only been caught out twice and managed to keep it upright- just barely. What year Tiger? My buddy, has the 2013 800 ABS and I'm impressed by it. Ride safe.

Dick Whistles I purchased the tiger 800 in 2011,when they first came out, the engine is the opposite of the BMW, dont have to use the gears as much, loads of torque, I have a tracer now,similar tourquey engine, I got bored with the gs very quickly.
@DickWhistles
@DickWhistles 6 жыл бұрын
Kevin Westwood How does the Tracer compare to the Tiger? So, no off-roaring then? That Tracer suspension is a problem for me - but, Man, what an engine. And the first useable rider modes on the market! If you haven't already, take a look at my Tracer review. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3XGkJh9lpeVptE

Their both great bikes,tracers more sporty than the tiger,i have seen your tracer review and agree with what you said especially the seat,the triumph tiger 800s have become very expensive now,over £12,000 for the XRT version,mine was £7149 back in 2011.

Great comments, how is your fuel economy going?
@DickWhistles
@DickWhistles 5 жыл бұрын
Jose Acosta good question. I haven’t really noticed. It takes more fuel than any of my other bikes and I can do a full day’s riding. I’ll pay more attention the next time I’m out. Do you own one? Thanks for the comment.
