This “hack” I was doing all the time without realizing is a hack 😊 The way I do it, I fold the binding “over”, over a 2inch wide ruler, to make sure the binding is perfectly lined up with both edges. Then, I pin it like you do and get the ruler out. When the ruler comes out I get that extra length of the binding (created by the thickness of ruler). And yes, the corners are always nice and sharp. Another hack, when I sew the binding on the face of the quilt, I use the “stitch in the ditch” presser foot. I line the fold of the binding against the middle “wall” of the presser foot and move the needle to the right 2-3 positions. The seam looks always great this way. Sometimes I use a decorating stitch on a small quilt. Have a great day ! It was nice to see you 2 together. I watch both your channels all the time. You are fun to watch 😊

I must try that binding hack. Thanks for the tutorial, the bit of binding you were trying to show us, if you switch the light off on your machine as it’s too bright you will be able to see the fabrics better. Tiffany from Tiffany’s Quilting life does this and it works really well. You and April looked like you had so much fun and you had some great purchases. I can’t wait to see your duffel bag. Great binding hack! I sometimes use scant quarter inch seams to accommodate the folds in a stitch and flip block, so it makes sense to use just that little bit to accommodate the bulk on the corners when we bind quilts. Thanks, Di!

I love the knot and thread pattern! I made the regular size and love it so much. Some people thought it was hard to put the sides on but for me the inner binding was really challenging. It did teach me how to make bias binding though! The bag was cute and I got many compliments

Great video my reaction was just the same as yours. I thought April was shorter. I think you two are great like so much the idea of those quilt shops and definitely that binding hack. I always have trouble with the corners for sharing and definitely love that quilt and the quilting you did such a great job, and the pattern was perfect. Very pretty holiday quilt! I'm anxious to try the binding tip. Same as you, I fold the binding at the corners by first turning the "bottom\horizontal" edge up and then folding the "side\vertical" edge on top. This makes it much easier to sew around the corner and also creates a less bulky corner. I am, however, a bit of a rebel when it comes to pressing the binding before attaching it to the quilt. I don't! It eliminates a step (a not-so-fun one in my book), and the end result looks just as neat and crisp. Thanks for a great video!

Quilts Etc. is my favorite fabric store and Pat is the nicest person!!! If they cut fabric for you they always give you a bit extra, so generous. They have great classes, too!

Di, you should read Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. It’s a novel and an octopus named Marcellus plays a role. Through this book I began to appreciate the octopus! This video was such fun. Thanks for the binding hack and sharing your visit with April. She’s so sweet.
