I love ProTool for the reasons you outlined, but I’m not sold on it being the very best out there! Carly lists several things that it can do that this tool does not on my 128i. I do not have Carly to verify, but according to their list of codable features for the 128i, Carly has several advantages over ProTool: Here are just a few of the: Fog lights can be made to come on whenever the low beams come on, so no separate button push (which I often forget), separate delay for mirrors closing and windows rolling up (so I can fold my mirrors without closing the windows when the top is down), and the ability to open my convertible top with my keyfob as I approach the car...

Mark Fenbers ProTool comes out on top for the app market mostly because of the INPA system type of checking for code reading and then the many more coding options vs. Carly. Carly has a subscription now too. BimmerGeeks have been making weekly app updates to bring in new features, so it’s a matter of time before this gets even better than it is today 😀👍🏻

Bimmergeeks has added custom coding options as well such as a 5 blink lane pass, I absolutely love this app. It's 10x faster than my Foxwell NT510 for diagnostics and is way easier than my coding ability using INPA. Money well spent

heatchamps2011 No not at all! Once you download it and purchase the license then you just plug into the obd port and find injector coding in the menu then you just enter in your injector values and save them 😊

Broderick Medley when you coded your battery, is there an option to change amp hour rating and battery type such as AGM to Lead Acid or vice versa? I've had two hand held BMW scan tools that claimed to do battery registration, but those scan tools were simply able to register a new battery but NOT give me the option to change amp hours or battery type.

Izzy Dizzy yes there were many options for the hour rating and agm if you have that battery type. It was very very simple.

How much was the overall cost for the Carly. I was thinking on getting it. I heard I need to pay for the app? Is that one time fee or yearly fee? Also is it true it is vin locked? This one is sounding better. What is your opinion on Carly?

@@andrel7484 I paid about $60 for the app and about $60 for the adapter. That was before their yearly subscription model. They grandfathered people who previously had purchased the app, so we have a lifetime subscription without the yearly fee. The Carly app is not VIN locked as far as I know.

Andre L i also use carly Its Very good reliable and not vin locked , works perfectly coding, deleting Error codes ,reads info codes, Resetting Transmission ADAPTIONS ,Dpf regenation Start if you have diesel, Exhaust Flap or how its called open and close, Battery Registration, brake settings , Service Resett everything !! And they have good customer service!!

@@bmwsincekid When you do a Battery Registration with Carly, does it give the option to not only register the battery as new, but also to change the amp hour value and the type (AGM/Lead Acid) I'm second owner and original battery which was a 90ah AGM was replaced with 100ah Lead Acid. I would like to not only register it, but change the settings so the IBS can function correctly. Please reply! Thanks

Still not worth IMO. Just use a laptop with ISTA-D and ISTA-P which you can get for free.

Just bought a dcan cable with a disk with inpa and ncsexpert etc and it is an absolute nightmare to download and is not working, so I was wondering if the cable itself is designed to only work with the computer software or if I can use it with the protool app ( need to code a fuel injector ) the cable has a switch on it with multiple positions depending on what model of car you have.

Hi, i want to ask you if the coding section with Protools allows you to code the canbus system to eliminate the blinking of the led lights when you start the car.... for example: can you select for the reverse lights and code the canbus to cancel the bulb test? Question i recently got a 335i super excited but when i got my car everytime i turn on left blinker it says it has a rear blinker malfunction. Have you ever had this problem or heard of this? Derek Smith I had the same problem in my 2006 E60 525xi. I just had to change the bulbs and that fixed it. It could be a wiring problem. I thought I had one, but when I just replaced the bulb, it worked out fine

Can anyone recommend the best scanning/coding tool for an older model (1998 e39 523i) BMW? I've got the dreaded Trifecta ABS/DSC lights that I've been battling with for the past year or so. I've replaced all 4 wheel sensors, all 4 wheel hubs, replaced the ABS module with a used one and I've bought about 3 garbage INPA/NSC/etc. software packages via eBay and you have to be a freaking NASA computer programmer to figure out how to just install the software. I can really use a bit of help; any suggestions on an easy to used scanning/coding tool?

I had to get Carly... I needed a battery and protool does not support E93 and IBS. So it was ether a 149.99 battery 95 EMG and 60.00 Carly or 499.99 and get a 92 EMG. For the E93 could not find any app that supported the battery.
