(again on a budget) I am still working on bends, but want to get the Loop pedal so I can learn lead and record the rhythm at the same time. This is brilliant, extremely well done video showcasing the current state of affairs, fair and unbiased and a great push for us katana/WAZA Air users to jump up to the variations of the fuller katana range and using the librarian app. I’d really actually love to see this migrating to the full airsteps and packaged with future updates of librarian so that there is better symmetry across the whole boss range. Further emphasis on the gapless playback would be good as well as this is something very few platforms can do well. ( looking at helix and most other devices that drop audio whilst reloading dynamically assigned DSP )
@aljuric58872 жыл бұрын
Hey Alec, not sure if I'm understanding you correctly, but are you possibly referring to the fact that there is a slight and momentary signal drop when changing channels with the GA-FC footswitch? Either way, do you know if there is any way to make the channel switching seamless?
@AlecBourneMidiMadScientist2 жыл бұрын
@@aljuric5887 I suspect you have a more pronounced drop changing only certain types of reverb algorithms. You may want to experiment with swapping 2 presets and keeping the reverbs similar. Good video, BUT: the glaring omission on the airstep are the missing exp/fs jacks, of which the GA-FC has 2, and the GA-FC EX even 3. How do you control the volume and wah from the airstep without plugging an extra TRS cable into the back of the katana? Am I missing something?

I was actually going to purchase the Fender Mustang GTX100 until I found out the TONE software can only be used on the computer via android or ipad, and since I have neither I would only be able to edit tones on the tiny LCD window on the amp itself. I own the Katana 100MK2 and was going to return it for the Mustang until I found this out. And yes, I am THE one person in the world who does not own a smart phone or tablet. @bretttrommler7564 ай бұрын
Two things about this... - Being able to change the individual effect using the footswitch is absolutely a game changer. Can't do that with a GA-FC. But some kind of indication of which effect you are using... the LED on the Airstep changing to the same color as the LED on the amp... would be very nice. - Can the footswitches be programmed with any effects we want to group together or are we stuck switch 1 being the booster group, switch 2 being the Mod group, switch 3 being the FX group, etc.? I don't use any of the distortions or overdrives in my Katana. It would be great if I could set switch 1 up to be say, either pedal volume or pedal wah. Can we do that or would I have one switch I can't use because it has nothing but boosters in it? I already have that issue with my GA-FC.

I quote : "You should know getting into it that the effects get kicked in when the button is released and not pressed. Not only is this a super dumb design, but I also don’t see anyone talking about it. At first I thought there was some latency, but after investigating for a while a realize the “latency” came from the fact that effects aren’t kicked in when you stomp but when you release. And of course, since you stomp on the beat, by the time you release you’re past it." -end quote.

Thanks! I generally like modelling amps just because of the versatility of what I do (teaching lots of different songs with different tones). It's a great entry point for beginners/intermediate players as well. If I were in a band performing I'd probably look to using a a tube amp as I'd probably have a more single defined sound. My favourites are the Katana ofcourse and the Positive Grid Spark. The PG Spark is probably more just for practice but is probably a bit easier to use. There are pros and cons :)

Unfortunately it arrives telling you to update the firmware which a poor app that doesnt work, I have written to Xsonic support who dont have a ticketing system, their User groups has a lot of threads on comments of the non working airstep updater a very crude app. However, the airstep functions as your video demos and your video is very good although I have a GA FC and the main extra is the coloured lights and that you can use it with the Katana Librarian app on IOS rather than having to use a Mac with tone studio. However, I have a lot of patches on tone studio and havent tried the BT Katana air app but pretty sure you have to transfer them. Right now I am not using many so I shall see how that goes. Airstep Kat I can see a saver for Katana 50 users but for those who already have a GA FC and a lot of patches in Tone Studio not sure it is worth the change. For live performance though I think it is better given you can use your phone to adjust settings rather than having a mac.😁😁🙃

Hmm? The fragile USB connection/cable makes me think it's not durable enough to use in live settings. Maybe it's good enough for the bedroom.

Does anyone know if a looper pedal can be used with the Airstep and the Katana 50 mk II?

When you press the save button in Katana librarian app, which is brilliant with the gafc, the setting is not saved to the amp, only the library! You have to go into the library and press the little dots at the end of the patch and choose Download to amp and correct patch location, otherwise if you don't want to do all this flaffing you'll have to go back to the amp and press the channel save button Not as simple as the boss Tone studio

Just hold your channel button down on the amp & boom, it's saved. Not hard.

Hi Dave do you think the mission engineering Ep 25k expression pedal will work on a katana mk 2 50?
