Rideau Canal system including Dog Lake where the current Ontario record of 15 lb. 10 oz was caught. I see them everytime I fish the shallows on Dog Lake and periodically catch them on surface lures.

Very informative! I do live in Ontario and haven't yet caught a bowfin, they are on my radar. Only problem is where I live in Ontario I am about 1600 km drive to these spots.

The west coast of the bruce penisula has some great bowfin fishing. there are lots of shallow bays a, inland marshes and ponds that are great for bowbin as well as pike, bass and even some gar.

there's bowfin everywhere in progress frenchmans bay east park, pickering ontario. (shore fishing) but the only problem is expensive parking 5$/hour.

@ many bass, catfish, bowfin. sometimes pike. my friends catch like 100+ bass per year there lol

Large archipelago swamps on any great lake is fine for Bowfin. It's better if they have multiple sources upstream, I don't know why but it s true.
