Bows are the coolest weapons in the game. That said, I wish they allowed crossbows to shoot faster than 11FPA. Keep the same breakpoints, just add higher ones for faster attack. Pretty sure that would help shrink the power difference between bows and crossbows.

Kuko is a guilty love of mine. I keep a perfect up'd one with a 40/15 in it for a build that is very fun but not generally good after players 3 lol. And I use a faith on the merc, so many arrows!!

Melody is a great budget bow for a Frost Maiden. For the cost of a Ko rune, you can potentially have a +6 bowskill w/ 20 ias and knockback, among other mods

Happy to see my under dog witchwildstring get some love. With a rattlecage, atmas scarab and face of horror you have a quit serious build with strafe on low budget, upped wws and it will carry you trough hell. By far not the greatest kill speed, but funny as hell.

I've been playing with the insight bow and I LOVE it, I initially was doing insight on myself and edge on my merc, and had planned to change that in act 1 nightmare, but it was so powerful I just kept that going until act 4 and now my merc has insight and it's STILL great. Dies way less than an act 2 merc with insight.

yea, exploding arrows, even to this day, are really slept on when it comes to weapons - they may have been better in 1.09, but they're still extremely fun and solid :)

Faith for the endgame win! Especially with a perfect roll on a +3 bow. Goldstrike is definitely solid, and the burrito cannon will always hold a special place for me (1.09 strafer - although I did end up getting a WF eventually) I did throw a couple 40/15 ias jewels in a Witchwild on SP for a merc - totally badass! I do wish the amp damage had a slightly higher proc, maybe with a variable 5-10%, but still such a wonderful bow.

Wws, upped and socketed is very hell viable up to players 5ish ... and is far more attainable than a windforce or faith. Going to try it with an act v Merc ...

An uped perf Wws with 2*40/15 has been my funmaker for a long time and rocks great, even Wrath was a very under estimated and fun bow to run with.

I'm not sure if it'd be OP... certainly could be... But I would love some magic/rare/unique arrows. Especially if playing self found, it can be sooo hard to get decent res on bowzons. And, again, until you're playing with pretty gg gear, the damage on a bowzon isn't even all that great as to make up for it lol.

That's one of things I really enjoyed about some of the mods that were made - rare and unique arrows made for a huge boost, but they weren't overpowered. There should at least be some that increase damage by a percentage, maybe add a little extra open wounds or deadly strike, or possibly increase elemental damage or piercing by a percentage

I'd love to see them up crossbows a bit to make people want to use them. Like add a fix curse on striking for every crossbow. If every crossbow had 20% lvl 1 lower resist curse on striking, people would use it temporarily at low lvl and it would never replace end game weapons.

I'd be interested in a Bow with oSkill shapeshifting. Maybe put Werewolf, Lycanthropy, and Fire Claw on there, and Rabies procs on strike? Could be a fun little gimmicky option for switch-hitting. Rabies procs on a bow definitely seem like they'd be cool, regardless, both for Strafers who can put a lot of arrows downrange very quickly and for Druids who want to more comfortably merge the Fury and Rabies gameplan. Another fun one might be a bow with "fires explosive arrows", and a chance on strike (maybe 100%?) to cast nova and frost nova. That could be a cool way to bring back the bowchantress, or make a lightning bowazon. Also, a bow with Lower Resist on strike would be a lovely alternative to Infinity.

telling you all right now, up the Arctic horn to rune bow, use the full set with freezing arrow set up. It rips so hard with the new 2.4 damage per level. youll be so surprised and impressed, then when you're up to around level 60 up it again to a ward bow. oh I also added a socket and put a shael in for 20% ias

Not a top tier Bow, but Wizendraw (can have up to -40 Cold res with facet o it!!) is a super budget and interesting one that is worth mentioning.

I love Witchwild and have two. Damned right :D One for the bowadin one for an Amazon later or... an act 1 merc? Ice is beautiful too. But runes... for all the elemental endgame rune bows...

I used to upgrade the kyanon ballista, get my mercenary to use Faith, the cows drop like flies due to the piercing damage. I think the damage of the upgraded ballista is higher than WF?

An upped Buriza does more damage, but WF shoots considerably faster. With fanaticism, Buriza can shoot at 11 frames per attack, Windforce is only 7 frames per attack with fanaticism.

For multishot/strafe bowazons, it's hard to beat a GMB in patch 2.4. For frostmaidens/hybrids, matriarchal bow is good for it's better gear flexibility. Rogues can now use Amazon only bows too.

I’m using Widow Maker on my bow sorceress and the guided arrow ability is nice plus it shoots magic arrows so I never run out of arrows. With enchant I’m doing 4.5k max damage and I only have budget gear

Really wish this bow was still decent. Was a favorite of mine back in the day cus of the name but just can't compete now adays. Eaglehorn. If it had like an extra skill point and IAS or deadly strike on it would make it solid.

depends on the rest of your setup, though unless you're going physical focused, I actually prefer infinity over BotD on a spearzon (Charged Strike + On Character Infinity w/ a +3 skill base, hurts like a truck). But if dead set on BotD (such as being a fendzon) - out of the two elite amazon spears, I'd lean towards MatPike due to the changes to the fend animation - though it does limit you from using the eBotD on non-amazons (I made a War Pike one explicitly for a chargedin)

I think bows not having ethereal option like melee realy holds back their damage potential.

Except that having a ranged attack gives you more time to do more damage before potentially getting hit. It wouldn't make sense for a bow to do as much base physical damage as an ethereal thunder maul. Bows are also generally faster, so for something to have that much base damage to begin with, with such a high attack speed and ranged, that would completely change the balance of the game.
