a few tips here, always try to bring a monster corpse to the next floor in case evelius get hungry potion drinking event, if he gives you poison, death or monster potion just walk away he wont get negative over it, if you toss or try to walk away with the potion in hand it will move his mood down

If that happens again just quit to menu and reload. You'll start back in your house with whatever items you were holding or wearing. This has happened to me several times, but only when leaving through the caves, which is why I always abandon my buddies in there. Also that yellow potion is a speed potion, not a gold potion.

You can make a gold potion in Alva's cauldron , you need a empty flask and 2 coins.

That was a speed potion not a gold potion, the gold potion will sparkle while the gold potion have a lighting effect
