The Best Budget LED Light - SUTEFOTO P80RGB

Looking for my first lighting setup. Would you go for something this versatile or something more simpler and quality like the Amaran 100d?

Tough! Your answer was in your question :). My first light was a daylight balanced 60w with not many RGB options at the time, I found it ok wishing for more power. Today, I might go with a little more power at 100w that the Amaran offers as my first light and a flexible versatile RGB light like the P80 for a secondary. With a more powerful light you can control your ambient exposure much better. And with an and RGB light you can play. Hope this helps.

If you need app control and all that out of the box as a first light the P80RGB is hard to beat for the price. As for power it will light a subject up in a softbox, grid if you can control your ambient.

Thanks for the advise. It does help. I might've been lured in with all the feature of the RGB, but maybe i should just get my experience in first with the 100d.

Do you see this light as more intended for photographers or videographers?

I would sway more to video but it really depends on the photography you are doing. I did a product shoot using this light and nice results. It’s light weight, runs and batteries if need for booming like I had in the video. Pretty versatile. I guess if you did a wedding with it and was able to control ambient it could work but keep in mind it’s not a strobe.
