The Best Budget Noise Cancelling Headphones | Sony WH-1000XM3 Review

The Sony WH-1000XM3 is a pair of headphones discontinued in 2018 but still provide a lot of value today. They've got awesome noise cancelling, loud booming bass and are pretty comfortable. Priced out brand new (amzn.to/3ndB6Sd) they are not super affordable, however the used models is where the bargains are at (ebay.us/6AWpCZ). Watch the review to find out if they're for you!

Bought three (used) WH-1000XM3's; a set for me and one for each of my daughters. All came with full accessories (incl. case, original box). None were over $120 (w/in-country shipping). Battery life has been maintained on these used sets and although they seem to have been lightly used (if at all), I was a bit concerned as to the overall age of each battery (i.e., 3+ years). My concerns have been unwarranted. Nevertheless, I did purchase a couple of replacement batteries, just in case. Battery replacement is fairly easy and straight forward with the help of a short KZbin tutorial. The LiPo battery is inexpensive (e.g., Aliexpress, Amazon). I did have the Soundcore Q30 prior to the WH-1000XM3, which when purchased new (~$80) is an excellent alternative. However, the build quality and styling are not quite at the Sony level. With custom EQ using the Soundcore app, the Q30 sounds excellent to me...but the ANC is not as the same level as the Sony. It's good, maybe 75% to the level of the Sony headphones...but generally Sony sets a benchmark insofar as ANC. I also prefer the Sony for its LDAC-codec capability and it pairs nicely (decent range) with my FiiO BTA30Pro as the transmitter (from PC source). I can also use the LDAC codec with my Samsung (Android), enabled under dev mode in the Android menu. Some people are always up-trading to the next new release (for greener pastures...XM4, ...XM5, ...Apple AirPods Max, etc.), so deals are out there. However, I prefer the option of buying three very good headphones for the family...and for a combined price less than one new flagship set. Bottom line, if you can find a USED Sony WH-1000XM3 in very good condition and under $130...it's a no-brainer imho.
