I found one of these used for around 600$ usd on marketplace a few months ago and I jumped at it. I initially got it for a photography class at my university, but now that I have got into video, I’m super happy about its capabilities ESPECIALLY the 120fps at 1080p because I wasn’t even looking for that feature when I bought it. Now I’ve bought a nice Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 G2, the first gen Tamron 70-180m 2.8, a rode video mic, cage, side and top handle, and I have a v mount battery + external monitor on the way. Thanks for the tip. What lens would you recommend for filming outdoor on a soccer/football field?
@BeyondTheGame_E3 жыл бұрын
It depends on your budget and how close/far you are from the action. A Sony 18-200mm lens will catch everything from anywhere but the image quality is not the best. A 70-200mm F/4 or F/2.8 on the other hand will offer much better image quality but it is also more expensive and you will struggle to frame any action happening less than 10ft away.
@CJ-yi6gb3 жыл бұрын
Great video! Interested in the Sony A6400 for basketball and football videos. Would you recommend using it on a tripod for stabilization or buying lenses with in body stabilization? How do you deal with the footage not being shaky because all your stuff looks clean?
@BeyondTheGame_E3 жыл бұрын
For me it highly depends on what I'm filming. If I'm filming outside on a football field, I need a zoom that can go up to 200mm to get close-ups. So I definitely need a tripod because all my handheld sport action when I'm fully zoomed in is going to be trash. But if I'm filming basketball and I can be on the sidelines, I'll probably film handheld so that my movements are faster and it's easier (for me) to keep the ball in frame. So to answer your question, if you have a long zoom you absolutely need a tripod. If not, a bit of stabilisation in the lens might be all you need.

Now I’m not sure if you are familiar with motocross racing but I also need a good close up lenses for photos off the bikes, them in the area getting candid shots from not to far of distances. Hopefully auto correct didn’t slaughter this to bad. I don’t have a huge beginner budget, but I don’t want to compete color wise with some of the best cameras out to date. So if there’s a entry level that’s just a tad more… let daddy know!!!! Hahah

@BeyondTheGame_E2 жыл бұрын
Personally I think rolling shutter is a very overrated complaint. I didn’t notice it so I guess it can’t be that bad. But to be fair, I didn’t look for it or test it. If you want my personal opinion, rolling shutter is an issue that I feel is getting a bit blown out of proportion on KZbin these days. Love the channel! Looking to purchase my first camera and lens, likely going to go with the a6400 for sports photography and videography, is the Tamron 70-180 mm a good option for action sports (primarily basketball from the sidelines)? Looking at that lens option due to a smaller budget. Any other lens recommendations? Thanks!
@BeyondTheGame_E2 жыл бұрын
The Tamron 70-180mm is a great lens. I use it myself. But there's no internal stabilization though so if you use it on a camera that doesn't have stabilization either (A6400), it can be hard to get good stable shots handheld especially when fully zoomed-in at 180mm. Also, when filming from the sideline, even the widest shot at 70mm will be too tight when players are just a few feet away you. Have a look at this video I made that explains it all kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ6qlYqbqpV_gsk

@@champjjallday15 That's my personal choice yes but to each their own. Some prefer to have a longer lens especially if you intend to take photos. Also, the 28-75mm is a bit too short to film outdoor sports like football for example.

Im just getting into youtube content and interestingly enough filming nrl content (not nrl but my own street skill style) would you still recommend the a6400 for me. It wont be played on the full field, rather a smaller section of the field.
@BeyondTheGame_E3 жыл бұрын
The Sony ZV-E10 does seem like a better option these days than the A6400. It has a few more useful features that the A6400 does not have and it is also cheaper. But I personally haven't used it yet so I can't confirm how great it is or not. I do plan to do a review as soon as I can get my hands on one. As far as the Canon M50 is concerned, it only records 100/120fps in 720p and not 1080p. It also has a EF-M mount which means that you'll need an adaptor for your EF lenses or, if you buy EF-M lenses, you'll need new lenses when you'll get a new camera.

If they are too expensive for you, I typically recommend these ones instead kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZ6qlYqbqpV_gsk But ultimately you will need someone to manipulate the camera though. @@baseballfastpitch9258 The Sony a6400 is compatible with SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards, so you can use any card with those marks on them. Personally I like the Sandisk Extreme Pro cards. With the card reader, it's more about the connector than anything else. For example, a USB-C or Thunderbolt connector will transfer data much faster than a USB-A connector.
@baseballfastpitch92582 жыл бұрын
I use the extreme pro as well but not sure if it’s the best for what I’m videoing, it has the U with the number 3 inside it and has the number 128GB and 200MB/S. I’ve asked the people at Best Buy where I bought the camera and they are clueless so thanks for taking the time with my questions. Jim
@BeyondTheGame_E2 жыл бұрын
@@baseballfastpitch9258 the SD card you’re using are fine. And I think you are overthinking the card reader thing a bit. There’s no such thing as a good or bad card reader. They either work or they don’t, nothing in between. I get the feeling that you are actually editing your footage from the SD card. If that’s the case, it’s most likely the source of your problem. SD cards are not meant for that. You need to copy the footage from the SD card to your computer or to a hard drive and edit your footage from there. The sd card is only for recording and transfer.

@@BeyondTheGame_E ty! Can you please explain the benefits of image stabilization as it pertains to sports ?
@BeyondTheGame_E Жыл бұрын
@@Snestor97 the further away your subject is from the camera, the more you have to zoom in. And the more you zoom in, the bigger every little camera shake will appear on your screen because it is amplified by the distance covered. The same way the slightest movement on a telescope makes you point very far away from your original target. So now imagine if that target is constantly running around. Obviously it’s a lot easier to keep up with a camera than with a telescope but, the longer your zoom is, the harder it becomes. Image stabilization will make it somewhat easier because it will avoid some of the shakes. Not the big ones though, it’s not a night/day situation.
@Snestor97 Жыл бұрын
@@BeyondTheGame_E Thanks so much man, really appreciate it. If you're using the 70-200mm lens, with a tripod, will it make the more zoomed in shots much better, or with that build is it less necessary?

@@Snestor97 you don’t really need image stabilization if you use a good tripod. It’s meant more for people shooting handheld. A tripod is basically the best accessory you can use to improve the stability of your footage.
