Good work Ashley...That camera of yours is a MONSTER, and holds up to 98% of any mirrorless in the world. That was a series of cameras that will last for at least 30 years, maybe getting the shutter replaced, if need be. .. I had a Sony A series and my son broke it, so I went to MD with a borrowed T3,and LOVED it. Then I went full frame yet went for the Pentax K1 MK2 , for the low light, the build, the astro photography, IBIS, the movable screen, etc,etc.. Now I went and bought 2 SONY little babies that do 4k, since their cameras are made for toddler hands, and of course I have Canon film cameras,one that is the first film camera they made with AF. All you need to learn are the basics, get some good glass, and walk around, so being in NYC is a wide open canvas... One of my homegirls has the Canon you have, i think. WE havent gone outside to shoot together yet..

The mirror inside your 5D body reflects light from the lens into the viewfinder pentaprism, allowing you to look through the viewfinder to frame a shot... that's actually it's only purpose, doesn't affect the image quality at all... in fact, it flips up out the way when you press the shutter to allow the image to be recorded to the sensor. That's the biggest difference between DSLR's, and the newer mirrorless bodies. The 5D equivalent in the mirrorless lineup would be the R5 series. Like you mentioned, it runs for $2k+ new, but I wouldn't advise anyone pay that for it anymore... buy it used, or buy a R6MkII or R5 for those prices.

You're excitement around photography makes me get re-excited (not a real word) lol. I would like to offer you a thought, which is this... There really isn't a transition from "beginner to pro". Not in sports, medicine, technology, nor here with Photography. We all start out as beginners and are drawn to move forward cause we're just hungry to learn more about our craft (using the camera, ISO/shutter speed/aperture, how the body and the lens are married, putting everything together to capture shots, shooting Manual-Only!!)... It's not a microwaved journey and the goal really isn't to be called a "pro". One day you will look up and your pictures will be just as good as those who you inspired to be like. Even when you get to that place, it's still a journey of learning. My advice would be (not saying that you're Not doing this already...) to continue to focus on learning, shoot everyday, even if it's just stuff around the house. Practice directing the eyes of the person looking at your pictures towards our subject by (for example) narrowing the focal plane, via contrast, etc. I took my daughters giant teddy-bear and set it up in places around the house because I needed something to focus on that wouldn't move! Helped me a lot!! I could go on for hours - but I'll cut it short and again say that I love your passion! Enjoy the journey of photography!

I also own the 5d mk4. I own 5d, 5d2, 5d3, 6d. The 6d is a pro camera...its awesome. Great for any pro asignment. It's small and the colors are awesome almost like the 5d mk1. I love my 6d..eventho I have the 5d mk4. Great video. Your enthusiasm is awesome. Keep up the good work.

A few years ago I decided to treat myself to full frame with an original 6D. Didn't feel like going up to the 5D, although I had seen lots of KZbinrs using them and knew a few of their features. I find the 6D fine for my personal hobby. Considering that you upgraded from one to the other, a follow-up post contrasting the two models with attention to how their differences impacted your use and results might make a good supplement. Did you find the ergonomics significantly better, the colors/resolution/low-light performance/image quality notably better? The 6D has a simple, almost sparse autofocus pattern compared to the more sophisticated 5D - did the upgrade improve your shooting experience or success rate? How would you map your growth to the camera features, what aspect(s) did you find most beneficial that you could use to make recommendations to others? It would be interesting to see the details behind all that enthusiasm!

nice video.i have 2x Canon 5d Mark 2 and they have been woth me for 12yrs.Unfortunately, due to work i had to move to mirrorless R6 and R6 Mark 2 and they no comparison for with DSLR - they were workhorses and no mirrorless can latch my 419,000 or so or more shutters one one of the Mark 3 bodies... now they both Mark 3 and 4 are discontinued?very sad.Rather go back to film which I used the Nikon FM-2/Cheers

5D MarkiV is in fact a pro camera, but from the past. You can buy pre owned at good price these days. That said, you can opt for a cheaper or pre owned mirrorless at the same price if you don’t expect features like wether sealing, etc. Enjoy your 5d! Great camera!

What do you think about the R5? .love your videos ❤
@michaels859729 күн бұрын
I would suggest the R5 II, because the first one was a EASYBAKE OVEN...It would heat up, shut down,and then you wait until it cools off..NOT what you want if you're shooting weddings or anything that cannot be done over..

Yes, this model of 5D is impressive for both Pro and Amateur, but I'd still choose a higher level gear (second hand). I'm happily using a first-gen 1DX Mark I still, which, despite its age, performs exceptionally well with quality lenses. Originally priced at $7,000, it's now as low as €500 in Europe. Though old, it's a reliable, durable camera with a pro-level ISO range. None of my clients have ever complained about the image quality, even though it's considered low megapixel by today's standards. If mine ever breaks, I'd buy another second-hand without hesitation. PS. Yes, putting a 5D photo side-by-side with a 1DX photo might not be easy to differentiate, but my personal taste when it comes to handling the body is still the "1DX monster" (true, some disagree and say the 1DX is way too big, however it fits my hands better)

@LMR653 ай бұрын
If you know the basics of a camera (aperture, shutter speed, & ISO), learn about lighting. What genre (animal, portraits, family, wildlife, etc.) of photography do you want to expand or learn? Watch videos or read books on that genre & practice. It’ll take time to learn, but you’ll grow eventually. Also, learn about post processing.
