The R5C is a great camera and the battery life issue is solved by a grip with extra batteries, a v mount or a power bank through usbc. It has a fantastic look and feel. Can’t think of any other issues it has and the photos are incredible honestly.

I have the R5C. Today, I visited a Canon stand at a cinema show and tested my camera with the CN-E RF mount lenses: 85mm, 50mm, 35mm, and 24mm. I can confidently say this camera is a masterpiece, but it truly shines depending on the lenses you choose. Unlike Sony, which is limited to 10-bit color, the R5C offers 12-bit internal RAW and 8K video. Plus, there are now batteries that last over 65 minutes when shooting in 8K. This camera is a beast-I’m never switching!

I am a Canon Fan Boy! I really do like Sony Camera's as well! But canon is for me just the better Ecosystem. I am a Photographer more than I am a Videomaker. Canon is just the better option for me as a Photographer. Sony Is more focused on Video than Photo. Canon's Lens selection is just the right for me! I don't know what other People think about this but all my Friends are also Canon Fan Boys! The canon Colors are amazing. I agree with Canon being more Simple with Settings and User-interface! I will probably stay with Canon for a long time. Until Sony catches up with the thing I need personally, I would consider checking out Sony! But Canon Is my choice.

I mean the R8 is exactly what you are talking about. It has the same sensor as the R6 Mark II, with same 4K options and LOG for a lower price in a smaller body

The reason I will never leave Canon is the user interface. Everything is nicely organized and it's in a decent resolution, while on the Sony's, the texts are just so ugly even in the viewfinder. As stupid as it sounds, that's what keeps me from using Sony.

I am a good old Canon 1200D user myself. As of now, I see neither Sony nor Canon has that perfect hybrid camera without compromises even if you are trying to get the flagship model irrespective of the brand. If I choose Canon, I get cameras that lean more towards photography. There is almost no mirrorless camera that has a global shutter that could limit or eliminate the rolling shutter issue, whether it is for photos or videos. But the camera's UI, durability, Canon's colour science, and recent update for third-party lenses for the RF mount look promising. If I choose Sony, I get a camera that is photo- and video-focused, but the video part is a compromise here as there is a crop factor to shoot 4k vids for most bodies and only the high-end ones can shoot without crop. As many say the UI is too cramped and sometimes an almost perfect camera like the A7S Mark 3 has got everything I need except for the fact the sensor is just 12.1 MP which is less than my 1200D which is an entry-level DSLR camera. Only one camera that is the A9 Mark 3 has a global shutter but it is crazy expensive which makes no sense to an enthusiast photo & videographer. At the moment I am just really confused about what to choose.

I shoot an R5II and the only thing I wish they had that sony has are a couple of the primes and the new rear screen mechanism. Sony's are definitely smaller lighter etc but to me they are *terrible* to shoot with. Feels chintzy, the screen and viewfinder are nice when they're nice but come with tons of caveats and get bogged down in all kinds of conditions. I constantly feel like I'm shooting with a computer and not a camera, completely taking me out of the moment and the process. The R5II feels absolutely incredible and I have full confidence in its ability to shoot in any environment. Also the files right out of camera are so much more natural with Canon/Nikon. Even the A7R5 took a lot of work for me to get where I wanted and that's supposed to be one of the best out of the box images Sony makes. I should also say that I didn't love my original R5 but loved my RP, go figure.

Sony is pushing out cameras every two months - so desperate to dominate the camera market but all their cameras are almost identical to each other. I think Sony has reached its peak. Canon on the hand is taking its usual pace and is coming back stronger.

Each of the big three camera companies is releasing pro bodies at roughly two per year. Sony released the A9II and A1II this year. Nikon released the Zf and Z6III. Canon released the R1 and R5II. The R6II is likely getting a refresh before the A7IV which is gonna be 5-years-old next year.

I once used the Sony Alpha R3 camera but only briefly because its durability was not what I expected. Finally I returned to using Canon to fulfill my photography needs to this day.

I've only had one Sony, ever. It was the Sony A7 (MK1) and it was great at the time, I liked it.. Had a 5DMK2 before that, and I liked the colors more out of it. And that was the thing that never really pushed me further into Sony, the colors and the feel of the images. HOWEVER lol, I am itching to get another one soon.. The A7C's look pretty good. People switch partners all the time and get bored or fallouts. Yet, we have problems with switching camera like it’s infidelity or unfaithful or a despicable act. Choose your hard. And know your priorities.

Correct me if I’m wrong? The A7CII has 4K crop. That’s what made me stray away from it. I ended up going to the Canon R8. But some times I wonder if I made a mistake 😅

I feel you on the battery life and weight/size of the equipment However canon has addressed a lot of those issues. The new LPE6P batteries are amazing for operating the cinema OS until the full battery is used up to the point where it performs better than the R5ii on battery. Canon also released the new VCM primes as well as a non L series (using L series glass) 24-70 f2.8 with amazing sharpness and autofocus at a fraction of the size and weight of the L series lenses. A lot is changing with Canon so I think now better than ever it’s time for me to stay

The 5d Mark iii and iv had insane video specs for their time, especially in a form factor as small. And i literally just watched a video by Manny Ortiz where he was talking about how Sony could've made the A1 better than it is, atleast a little, with firmware updates, but they didn't. I actually enjoyed your video, i just wanted to point these out

Over heating and recording limits were the main 2 improvements that caught my attention. A small megapixel bump and other changes were made as well but 💪

Not trying to get the attention of either brand with this video. All the cameras you listed are high end, giant cameras. They are great for sure but like I mentioned size and weight is a huge factor. Both companies make great cameras, these are just my thoughts and experiences 🙏

Seriously, how many really cares why X switched from A to B? Someone stating personal opinions like "It feels so good in hand" is subjectively irrelevant. Better for any camera owner then walk to the camera store and test different bodies how they like those, than take anyone's word about it. All the menu systems etc, just learn it. So much in these cameras has never changed in the last 30 years, yet smallest changes are made to sound like major ones. And when the major ones really happen, they were downplayed because it wasn't their favorite dominating brand that did those things, that everyone is now using and praising it for it, when first people were against all those things.

@@nickmagwood9200 And Canon kills it on video so don't let them fool you. You'll always hear that that cameras like the R8 overheat in rough conditions with 4K/60 but never really hear about the ZVE-1 and ZVE-10 overheating as well in under 20 minutes. That is always overlooked.

We need durability. Sony only has a great type: FX. I think if we want to buy entry cameras, should be Nikon or Fuji. After a few years, Sony cameras will be broken. They will be useless.

not true at all, sonys can take more of a beating than you anticipate even if they aren't quite to the same durability standard as brands like olympus i used to own a sony a6000 for a while, which was owned previously by my family for family photos/videos for years - at the end of its lifespan (before being sold off), it was all beaten up like hell but still going strong 💪 recent sony cameras are also plenty durable, i currently own a sony a6600 which feels plenty good in my hands and has taken a few hits whilst out doing stuff already

@@jessestarks3128 gladly, everything is objective, it really depends what you want to achieve, Sony in general has better color science, better compatibility with lenses, better community, and the cameras have an edge over any other companies, is just clear, people seem to just disagree with no points, but Sony has better products, don’t believe me, look at the stats, there’s a reason why is the most popular company, as I said, Canon is great, Sony is just better.
