The BEST camera for wedding photography in 2023

Hi everyone. Hope your good. In todays video I want to discuss the topic of GAS. Gear Acquisition syndrome and What is the best camera for wedding photography in 2023. HINT: It isn't the shiny new release from the big camera brands.
I use SONY but this could be any brand, canon, Nikon, fuji. I think all cameras released certainly in the last 7 years are all amazing tools. If I wasn't using Sony I would love to actually use the FUJI system as I love the look of them and the built in JPEG recipes, Hoping to pick up a X100v or similar for family holidays and personal life.

Fuji shooter here. The best camera for weddings is the one you have. We all want something else of course but what you have will get you by. I shoot all 4K video too and you’re right about 8K, it’s not a standard for TV’s these days and won’t be for a long time so I’m happy shooting in 4K.

Thank you. I shoot my Z6iis at weddings and have no need for Z7s or Z9s etc. I will be interested to see what they do with the fabled Z8 and Z6iii if/when they arrive. Brilliant all rounders are enough for me and my weddings.

Brilliant. thats great. Just using what will get the job done to a pro level. I've never shot a Nikon camera, dont think ive even held one. I think all cameras now are awesome. anything released in the last 7 years I would say is great. getting to the point now where all cameras have great autofocus, great colours, megapixel variations etc. so just getting the tool for the job is easy.

Nikon z6ii for me. I have a gear ban this year, trying to ignore all the sponsored camera “noise” as I’m very happy with my Nikon

Best way pal. Great camera from everything ive seen. Never used it - honestly think any modern camera is good enough these days. Save the Benjamin’s for education or a holiday lol

Great video, i shoot with a few Cannon 5DMKiii which i love & just got another spare through today & only paid under £200 for it, & I'm defiantly not scared of uncle bob who turns up with the latest camera showing me up ;)

A7iii here, love it to bits. Second body is the A7ii, and to be honest, it's rarely used outside of weddings. Battery life with the NP50 is atrocious so it's time to look at the A7iv as replacement, and the iii becoming backup. Not really fussed about the 32mp, but the improved AF is always welcome. It's the jump in price that's leaving me thinking I could survive with a second A7iii.

sounds great mate. its always one of those things, if the price sting isn't a factor, get what you want but if a 2nd A73 would do the job, save some money. Ill have my A9 bodies for probs the next 5 years or until they break haha

Great video Ray. The main reason I use my Nikon Z6ii's for weddings is that they are quieter (more ninja) than my Nikon D750. The D750 was released 9 years ago, and when paired with a good lens, still produces stunning portraits.

i've been thinking for 2 weeks about which camera will replace my old alpha 77ii from 2012. At the moment I have two good offers. An a9 in top condition with 18k shutter count without lens. Or an a7iii with remaining warranty 500 shutter count and a 28-70mm kit lens for 1380€. My budget at the moment is 1600€ would next invest in a used Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 i can get in my area for about 440€. My main focus is street and portrait photography.

The a7iii would easily be enough. I’ve owned both the a7iii and a9. I loved the a9 but the a7iii would have been enough if I didn’t want the silent shooting. I’m on a7iv bodies now. Either camera will be great in all fairness. I’d go the a7iii route and a lens personally. Only you can decide though.

totally, they were defo a WANT over a need haha. BUT I knew I wasn't upgrading my bodies until they break so investing in the best glass was the next option and now I have the best glass, I dont need to buy any bodies or glass until they die. job done. If people have the extra cash to upgrade to something they want im not against it - the video was to just show that a lot of the cheaper gear can get the job done. I loved the 35mm 1.8 lens, so good for such a small little lens.

@@RaySawyerPhoto i also very much think the Sony 35mm/1.8 is way underrated. i could also say the same for the Sony 85mm.1.8. i would not argue that the Sony 1.4s Gs are glorious. but the Sony 1.8s can get the job done. thumbs up.

Typical sonyboy video discussing which sony is the best for their needs. In terms of DR, Sony A1 is on pair with m4/3 and picture quality in terms of colors accuracy is so bad that sonyboys getting rid of it in favour of older sony. Get your stats right at least before posting your presentations

I think your missing the point, it’s about the camera you have and not the one you think you need! It’s what we do with the camera that counts not the manufacture.
