Medano Pass is 13 miles long and takes you from 900 ft tall sand dunes to an elevation of 10,000 ft and Aspen groves with 21 designated primitive campsites. Medano Pass is a must do trail for people of all skill levels.

Ive stayed at that exact site! I love this park. The sand is definitely not messing around. I now have an off road teardrop and I won’t be taking it through the sand.

One of my favorite parks in CO! Typically I prefer to disperse camp, but the campsites are nice and still close enough to the dunes.

another great video my friend, this is one of my all time favorite roads. My family used to do it in May or very early June as our first camping trip of the summer, A whole different experiece then with the creek high, Ive seen water over teh hood on a lifted full sized cherokee on 33s and mud near the top that would swallow said SJ. I last ran it down from the top having crossed the Sangres over Hayden pass near Villa Grove and then out through the dunes. either way its a fun fun trip. We should talk about some other southern colorado trips you might enjoy, the Saguache area is fantastic

Do you recommend being on 4low or 4high driving in sand .

I stayed in 4high and just gave it more gas anytime I felt the Jeep start to slow or bog down.
