The reason why CVT exhaust is outside is the hot air. It is very bad for your engine if it works on hot incoming air. You might not see the effect quickly, but a littl bit later your engine will die. People, don't do it that way. It is better to put the CVT intake in the horn, and rise the exhaust on the old intake position

I totally disagree. The nominal temperature difference isn't significant enough to cause any engine problems. What are your credentials to even cast disparaging remarks on Seth's modification??? I am going to copy this exact mod on my Outlander 850 Max and I'm sure it will fix my wet belt on high water crossings. Best wishes

@@bryanbrewer4425with them being stacked right on top of each other and one is blowing hot air out the one right above it will be sucking all that hot air in intake temp will rise but most likely not enough to cause damage I’ll be using the same idea just with the cvt intake exhaust can sit lower as a warning hahaha

Thanks for makng these and taking time answering questions. After chatting with Seth about Aztex sizes for a Yamaha 700, I chated with a big name in the Yammy sheave work business. He said sheave work cant get a Grizzly with 28+ mud tires to feel as quick as a stock Grizz with 25s. I might have to get over my fear of owning an XMR and replacing trans/diffs/seals constantly. Outlander xmrs are my favorite 4wheeler and a yami was a compramise. That 650 XMR is looking like it migjt be what I should get.

I have an 850 and love it Can Ams require maintenance just like they all do. When you are constantly mudding and riding in water things do wear down quicker. Marshall has the 650 and has had good luck with it, so i grabbed the wife a 650 hope it holds up as well. The power of the 850's power is what makes it a more fun machine in my opinion.

Hey Seth, I've been looking into the CVT intake, I have seen other people absolutely plow through mud and the CVT intake is fine, but the moment the hole gets too deep, and/or the hole gets off camber on the same side of the CVT intake it starts to take in water and then they can't get out of the mud hole. My question is why no one every raises there cvt intakes and only do the exhaust.
@destinhook3826

Every other snorkel kit raises the cvt intake as well. The can am oem one in the video is only meant to raise the engine intake

Hey Marshall, how many times have you had to replace diff seals on your 650? Im wondering if having less hp helps in the maintenace dept. Im so scared of the "pay to play" that comes with can ams that i started looking to yamaha but might not be happy with it. Maybe the 650 would be ok.
@LetDirtFly
@LetDirtFly 2 жыл бұрын
Only once so far. Do you have a XMR or regular 650? Don’t forget, with a mud ready quad, we’re pushing these things harder then most quads will normally handle. Seth’s Polaris constantly had issue because it wasn’t designed to be submerged like ours. Under normal riding the can-ams seem to hold up well.

@@LetDirtFly 1 diff seal doesnt seem bad at all. All I have done is put a refundable deposit on a Yamaha 700 but an XMR 850 has always been my 1st choice. My neighbor had a Can Am 400-500ish non xmr Outty but was replacing seals every year plus other stiff so it kinda turns me off. Sounds like you have had a pretty trouble free couple years of hard riding. Another YT guy with a 22 650 xmr has 400 trouble free Hard miles. Yalls 650s look and sound like 850s, maybe its the perfect amount of power that is easier on parts. Maybe I should get my deposit back and find an XMR 650. You dont ever wished you had purchased an 850 have you?

Have the same set up as you on a 23, should do the cvt intake. Step down on the hose size and all three will fit in there. Nobody wants water in there cvt housing 😅😅.

You can add the riser to a non XMR. You can also do the stock XMR stealth snorkel set up on a non XMR. I did it on the little 500 outlander. Just need the XMR OEM ecu bracket and cvt exhaust tubing.
