I figured out how to deal with if the person goes past the 6s and 7s. Also if they’re a smart ass like my husband and would count out the entire thing to the end. “Piles of 15” ◦ Put the 15 cards on top 6s and 7s alternating with a number card. Make sure one of the 6s or 7s is on top and bottom of the pile of 15. ◦ Show them to spec and Shuffle again making sure to keep top 1/3 of deck at top. Do fake shuffles and cuts too. ◦ Deal three piles of 15. Put the extra seven cards aside you don’t need them. ◦ Have spec pick two piles. Make sure the first pile is always put aside. ◦ Then have them pick card, and put it back at the 7th position then shuffle like the beginning. ◦ Have them take the first pile and say put down one card at a time until you feel like stopping. As they put down the cards say to yourself yes, no, yes, no and when they stop on a no say ok what’s the next card. If they stop on a yes say ok what was that card you stopped at? It’ll be a 6 or 7. ◦ Show them the two cards on either side of the one they stopped at and say see you could’ve stopped at the five or the nine (or whatever the numbers are) but you didn’t you stopped at the 7 (or6). ◦ Count out the other pile until you reach the 6th or 7th card and show them that it’s their card.
@praevasc4299 Жыл бұрын
There is a way to make it even safer in case the spectator takes longer to stop. I can add two extra random cards to the top, as no one would stop at the first or second, and if they did, I could say it would be too easy, and make them continue. And after the pack of sizes and sevens, I could to the same with the eights. This will increase the safe part from 16 cards to 32, and if the spectator is told to cut the deck roughly in half, it would make the entire half safe. If the spectator stops at a 6 or a 7, it's the best, then we can let the spectator deal the cards for an increased effect. However, if it's an 8, then the magician counts and calls the numbers 1 to 8 while dealing only 7.

Hey I loved this trick I am a bit new to cardistry so I have some questions to this trick First of all do we need jokers for this trick second when the spectator is choosing a pile what if the spectator chooses the pile which has 6 and 7s on it what will I do if you can answer this two questions I would appreciate it anyway I really loved the trick thanks for this!
@FatherFangs2 жыл бұрын
The jokers aren't important to this trick, and you simply don't allow the pile to be chosen by the spectator. When they cut the cards, set the top pile off to the side and use the bottom pile that doesn't have the set-up cards in it for them to pick a card from. If you really wanted to take it a step further and give them the illusion of making a choice, you could do a classic magician's choice where you ask them to simply "pick either pile." The secret is - you don't tell them what they're picking the pile for. So if they pick the pile with the set-up in it, you remove it, making it look as if THEY chose to eliminate that pile. If they pick the pile you need for the next part of the trick, just use it and make it look like THEY chose the pile we are using. You never told them what they were picking for, so they won't know either way. Makes people feel like they made important choices when they never did at all, you simply suckered them in to feeling like they made the trick even more impossible to pull off.

the first half of the video is super imporant, because we can see, if we would get foold by the trick. The way you did it, wasn't completly honest tough, because the spectator couldn't choose between the two piles in the actual trick and the spectator will most likely not choose exectly the seventh card, so I can't really tell after learning the trick, whether I, or others would get fooled by it

@@mason_nb figured it out even better. Make a pile of 15 with a 6 or 7 on top and bottom. That way if the persons a smart ass like my husband and counts through the whole pile they’ll end on a 6 or 7. Here’s what I wrote out for myself. “Piles of 15” ◦ Put the 15 cards on top 6s and 7s alternating with a number card. Make sure one of the 6s or 7s is on top and bottom of the pile of 15. ◦ Show them to spec and Shuffle again making sure to keep top 1/3 of deck in shuffled and at top. You could also be like "you have to focus on each card, really try and feel for where you should stop" or something similar. Or tell them to think of a number up to 15 and deal down that many cards. But three piles is also a good idea.
@FatherFangs2 жыл бұрын
It's best to avoid this as it makes the trick quite complicated to recover from, and so it's really up to you as the magician to control the spectator/assistant's actions and thoughts through suggestion and subtle hints. For example, when you are telling them they have to deal down, you could set it up like, "Now we're working with a *small* portion of the deck that *you* cut off from the top, and I need you to deal off a *couple* of cards face down and one of them will feel right to you *pretty quickly*. When it does, stop right there, *you don't want to pass it*." Using language like this is great in this situation as it will remind them of the free choice THEY made in the cut at the beginning that decided what cards they're getting to use now, and it will reinforce in the assistant's head that they need to deal only a FEW cards, because there aren't a lot of cards there and they'll go through it fast, and that they will get where they need to be pretty quick, so it can't be more than a few cards down. Double kicker is that when they do stop on the card you need finally, you can double back to what you said and really drive it home when you show them the card before and after it would have been different, and therefore it's good they stopped *right away* when they did because if they had passed it or stopped on one too early that didn't feel fully right, they would have made the wrong choice. You have 16 cards for them to deal before you run out of chances. If people cut the deck half or less at the beginning, this is 2/3rds of the cards roughly. This sort of language will make it MUCH more likely they will work within the bounds you need them to. These are the kinds of similar subtleties that pro magicians would use to influence a spectator's decision or actions without them even realizing it. You see this a lot in people like David Blaine and lots of close-up card guys. Hope this helps.

Say something like "okay we'll do something with that one in a moment but first you need to pick a card from the other pack". Most people won't notice and even if they do it's not a huge part of the trick. It's called 'magicians choice'.
