Great information and instructions! I just rigged some rods for big cats last week with egg slip sinkers on the line. I think I’ll redo a couple with this system. I haven’t been catfishing in several decades, but catch a few stray ones even when fly fishing. Your videos got me motivated and there are some nice spots around here in central Texas. Basically the exact same rigs I use for the same reasons. Excepts when it come to the floats. Some of my rods have a Trophy Cat Tackle Kitty Call on them so I can't switch them out. But I bring multiple rods with me So I can figure out which rigs are better to use that day for different situations. But I pretty much use the exact same rigs for everything unless I find the fish want a little bit different presentation or something.

Great video. Should have included what size 3-way swivel and duo snap to use with a 6 ounce weight and 8/0 circle hook. I have yet to see anybody explain the difference between a #3 or #4 barell swivel, and 1/0 and 2/0 barell swivel and what purpose each are used for. What size duo snap would you use for a 1/0 swivel? My terminal tackle knowledge is weak when it comes to big catfish.

Lol, I was curious, halfway through the video as to why you didn't talk about sinker slides/Carolina Rigs.....I see why you don't use them as much now! When you explained that your bait might be heavier than the sinker. Idk how many times I've casted a live Bluegill (palm sized) and that thing & my sinker land 15+ feet from each other! Thank you, now on my live bait rods im 100% going to use the "stationary sinker rig"...... regardless.....im like you, that Catfish is going to feel the weight, no matter what when you're tight lining them (which we should, especially w/a circle hook). I also don't think Catfish care about the weight anyway..... except maybe possibly a spawning Flathead that's on a bed right at that moment, but a bedded Flathead probably isn't the easiest fish in the river to catch anyway, lol. Thanks again brother! Great content as always!

Great video! I stumbled upon this one literally a day later after thinking about the whole sinker slide thing. I had my rods out in the living room and came to the same conclusion. No need to use sinker slide unless you have a slack line. Have you ever experimented with j hooks vs circle hooks vs treble hooks by chance? I'm doing that test now and was wondering if you have and what your results were?

That's a cool way to tie a snell. Does the dropper get tangled? If so, are the tricks to avoid it happening?
@WeekendWarrioroutdoors16 Жыл бұрын
I have a question on the three way rig you have why is the hook line is on the bottom swivel because usually the hook line is on the middle swivel instead of the bottom but yous you sinkers on the middle swivel and the hook on the bottom but usually that’s the opposite you think you’ll get tangled easier that way.

And also where I fish its full of trees and stumps. With decent current. I feel it would be best to always use that long sinker to avoid snags
@hagengrubbsfishing2 жыл бұрын
As long as the drift sinkers will hold your bait down in the current that would work just fine. When we have heavy current 2+mph, sometimes it takes as much as 12 ounces to hold the bait down and the flat sinkers help with that. Hope I answered your question but if not feel free to lmk. Thank you for watching and good luck👍
