I've been using the G85 since I started. Been a few years, have gotten other cameras, but they just don't compare for me. I'm a happy Lumix user. Only thing I think would switch my G85 from A Cam to B Cam would be if I got a S5IIX. But the G85 has been my workhorse for any and every situation

The G85 or G80 was a camera that got me the cash to get the GH5. Such a great camera and does all I needed it to do. I bought it second had for 380 and made all the money back on it. Still have it. Today people who are starting there camera journey have some great cameras to start out with. The GH5 second had is going for 600-800 second hand and cameras like the g80 going for 300 or less. Good video to show that a cameras like the G80 is a good enough camera to do paid jobs and always gets you learning better

Lovely hiking footage, nice diffusion filter tips, thanks. The kit 12-60 is great value, makes me reconsider any of the 2.8 zooms. In EU the G85 is a G80 with 30 minute recording limit, same for the G9 and G100, which makes the G90 (G95) or GH5 the next unlimited option in that price range and the only PDAF contender is the E-M1 II. That made me consider something like the ZV-1 (ouch) as a video body instead. Not sure about that though, need to do more G80 CDAF video tests, hopefully it's sort of good enough in real world usage as I'd really prefer to keep everything MFT/M43 only.

@Channel-xx8qtКүн бұрын
For photo use sony a6400 better than zve10 but Zve10 better than a6400 for video.
@ztejstronymarcinКүн бұрын
@@Channel-xx8qt The price difference for me between the a6400 and the zve10 is ~$150, maybe not much, but even if it's not enough, even $5 makes a difference. :) I chose the zve10 and bought a case and a smallrig cage, which reduced the differences between both devices by ~$70 in favor of the zve10 versus the "bare" a6400. To which I would probably save up for the mentioned accessories over the next few months. Now I will play with the camera itself, check what lens I would like, and maybe over time I will buy something cheaper (up to $400 max). Unfortunately, everyone on KZbin says "Zve10 is a low-end, budget camera" and I'm waiting for them to say "for the poor", for me it's a lot of money for something I plan to use to take photos or record a video. I hope that I will be satisfied, seeing that so far I have mainly taken photos with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. And the camera is mainly Lumix FZ38.

I have the G85 as a second/third camera, but I am limited to 29 minutes. Any way to remove that? Why aren’t you using the WiFi app to start and operate your camera? 😊
@nigelbarrostoo8 ай бұрын
I honestly hate using the wifi app, sometimes it messes up my audio or just disconnects or my phone dies or someone calls me etc. As for the record limit, how big is your SD card? I'm running the latest firmware and have a 256gb card and I can record past 29 min.
@Nqrgaard8 ай бұрын
Thanks for replying. I actually thing the app is okay and I used it to record, monitor and change exposure during an entire musical. I have 128GB and when the time runs out it starts recording 29 minutes more. I am a bit unsure if it is G80 or G85. It should be the same camera, but depends which country it is sold in
@petrsmid70558 ай бұрын
@@Nqrgaard Yes, I am afraid this is the problem. The EU version (G80) has a 30min record limit, whereas the US version (G85) does not. I am running GH5 and G90 and recently was so happy to find a G80 for a great price as I needed a third camera for shooting concerts (GH5 handheld + 2 cameras on tripods) but the recording limit was a deal breaker. So in Europe you have to go at least G90.

hey Nigel! the G85 was my 1st Lumix, I sold it for a GH5, however I brought another one because of the size...just falling in love using it again...one question: some say that it is better to use the Natural color profile since it is the flattest and easier to color grade...and you suggest the Cine D...isn't the color already too 'baked in' which gives lest flexibility in color grading? ...which is the best?....by the way why this second channel? thx

is this camera good upgrade for the dji osmo action 3?
@lloydgibsonmusic4 ай бұрын
I would think the popularity of the G85 would be greatly diminished if more people were to explore all the upgrades found in the G95. In my humble opinion the G95 is the real cost-effective bomb with its headphone jack, 20 Megapixel improved sensor, 120 p hd as well as other improvements I don't care to take the time to list. Anyone hoovering around this price range would be so much better served if they spent just a little more and bought the G95! What are your thoughts?
@samtranchet4 ай бұрын
I prefer G85 for its small 1.1x crop in 4k. G95 has 1.25 crop in 4k which isn’t negligible… It impacts field of view and overall video quality especially in low light
@lloydgibsonmusic4 ай бұрын
Again, in my humble opinion, a mere .15 difference in the crop factor does seem fairly negligible to me especially if one goes on to consider the multiple afore mentioned gains to be enjoyed in the trade off. As far as any decrease in low light performance... If low light shooting is actually a regular concern, would one not be better served by purchasing a Sony to begin with... that is if one agrees that most of the Panasonic cameras low light performance have always been a bit weak across the board? I would conclude by suggesting one's decision should come down to the greater of perhaps four or five differences in which case I would still say the G95 is the clear winner. I think the G85 still enjoys a false amount of attention simply because it was the first kid in that unique pool to make a big splash, a splash so big that it is still often stealing attention from the younger more capable swimmer.
@samtranchet4 ай бұрын
@@lloydgibsonmusic I see ... However, micro 3 4 already being a relatively small sensor, an additional 0,15 crop is noticeable and definitely a downgrade in that regard imo I think that at that time, Lumix changed direction on purpose to create more of a gap with the professional GH series... Now days if you want full sensor readout, 10 bit, even open gate, etc etc, you have to go with the more expensive and bigger GH or G9 series. (for now... hope that will change.)
@lloydgibsonmusic4 ай бұрын
Good points. I have a GH5 mark II but I guess for me in a lot of ways smaller must be better since I continually find myself grabbing my G95. But then Isn't that why we all fell in love with the micro four thirds small form to begin with. I want my next camera to have a 3inch sensor inside a yet to be invented GH8 body that will be just a little smaller than my G95.... Ha!
