Dreamworks should make more christian based movies

Maybe there won't be another Animation Masterpiece film like 'The Prince of Egypt' yet by Acts 17 logic, we can find Christian themes in Dreamworks' movies. Especially, their recent success, 'Puss in Boots: The Last Wish'. A film all about Counting your Blessings, Being grateful for your Life, rejecting the easy path of getting what you want and instead gaining what you need, and especially conquering your fear of Death.

DreamWorks was founded by 3 Jewish guys: Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen. It's not "Dreamworks should make more Christian movies", they never made Christian movies in the first place. Prince of Egypt adapts the story of Moses from the Old Testament, nothing from the New Testament. DreamWorks will never make a movie adaptating the New Testament/life of Jesus.

The Passion of a Christ is truly incredible. I teared up multiple times watching, and when Christ says to His Holy Mother "Behold mother, I make all things new", I burst into tears and started saying to myself 'WHAT DID HE SAY! WHAT DID HE SAY". In Greek its something you say when you are impressed by someone's sayings. I could not contain myself from praising His words.

All good choices. I'm glad you all gave Ben-Hur some love. I think it's a brilliant classic film in every way that movies are measured by: acting, cinematography, stunt work, action sequences, costumes etc. It's kind of amazing what they pulled off in the 50s with films like Ben-Hur and The 10 Commandments.

Big up Ben-Hur!!! Other classics I'd recommend are The Robe (about a Roman Tribune and his slave who come in contact with Christ's robe at the crucifixion - fun fact: first widescreen movie), Quo Vadis (about Nero's persecution of Christians, Peter's final ministry and the burning of Rome) and The Greatest Story Ever Told (it's an almost 4 hour hour epic, made up of gospel tableaus - every shot is beautifully composed like a fresco, and it's very theatrical. It's rather long and slow, basically the film equivalent of walking around a basilica. One of the greatest scenes in all of cinema history is the resurrection of Lazarus, the midpoint climax).

I fondly remember watching Kevin Reynolds’ “Risen” of 2016 too! A very inspiring movie. Also it’s supposed to be an unofficial sequel of “The Passion of the Christ”, as it talks about the 40 days after Christ’s resurrection up to the Ascension. Has anybody other seen it? What do you think?
@holtscustomcreations

I like everything about Risen except the cat and mouse chase at the end of the movie. I felt that quasi 4th act was completely disjointed from the rest of the movie. If they would have just cut to black and credits roll when our centurion meets Jesus eating with his disciples the movie would be a 10 out of 10.

FYI: No big Hollywood movie studio made any Jesus movie. The biggest one: The Passion of the Christ (2004) was made by Mel Gibson's independent production company and the biggest Jesus TV series: Jesus of Nazareth (1977) was made by a non Hollywood, Italian company. Also, the biggest Jesus internet/streaming series The Chosen was made by an independent non Hollywood production company. So for adapting The New Testament to film/TV, it was never because of Hollywood but despite Hollywood.

The Prince of Egypt is such a rich immersive, nuanced film. I use to immerse my daughters in the idea of Passover on Maundy Thursday.

The Book of Eli is definitely a contender. Easily the best Christian SciFi film I’ve ever seen.

Even tho it’s not movie…. And it’s not necessarily finished as a show or even in its written form. I’d honestly throw in Vinland Saga as good Christian content or at least say it’s apart of Christian Core. Its subtle themes towards Christianity, Thorfinns hope and adventure towards redemption and repentance, quotes on Scripture both in the show and manga. I highly recommend it for both Christians and people looking into the faith. Especially since it’s what helped lead me back to Christ into my life.

I liked how the Prince of Egypt dwelled into Moses relationship with the Pharaoh his brother who wasn't his brother by blood but by family. 😁👍

As an Ethiopian orthodox Christian I wanna say I love all my orthodox Christians in Ethiopia during the great lent we fast 55 day in the remembrance of the fast of the lord not only for that reason but for our spiritual gain too during this fast we it differs how much time you go with out eating some people fast until 12:00 and some until 6:00 and during this fast we are not allowed to eat meat,eggs ,dairy ... which helps us to build strength not to get tempted by the meat and other stuffs like christ was tempted by the devil during his lent. Have a blessed lent.God bless all orthodox churches

I definitely recommend on top of these: -"Andrei Rublev" by Tarkovsky -"The tree of life" and "A Hidden Life" by Terrence Malick -"Silence" by Scorsese -"Dekalog" by Krzysztof Kieślowski some other honorable mentions would be "The Passion of Joan of Arc" (1928), "Hacksaw Ridge", and "Mary Magdalene" (2018)
