I was born and raised in Wisconsin and lived in Atlanta for 6 years. I spent a lot of time in Chicago growing up and I recently moved back to Wisconsin. I’m heavily considering moving to Chicago because it’s a city that’s always had a special place in my heart out of all the places I’ve been.

Chicago beaches in the summer are unbeatable. Miami has the best beaches in the winter and spring but has hurricanes in the summer and the ocean there in summer feels like a hot boiling Jacuzzi in humid 90 degrees weather it's disgusting. Lake Michigan in Chicago is amazing in the summer. The lake in Chicago has crystal clear calm waters like in the Caribbean without the palm trees.

I do recall the lake in Chicago was absolutely stunning and made the atmosphere lively and upbeat in Chicago, especially in the summer. Thanks for sharing!

Lived in both, and pretty much across the board, everything was worse in Atlanta. Salaries worse, apartments were worse bang for buck, housing situation was horrible unless you wanted to commute an hour or live in the hood (Chicago is similar in this regard), and everything is so damn far away from each other. Oh, and public transit is so much worse. I hate winter though, so weather definitely better in ATL, and access to nature/hiking/kayaking/etc. was vastly superior in ATL as well. Overall, with how ATL keeps getting pricier, I could never see myself living there. I do not live in either city, but Chicago would be a pretty easy pick over ATL as I couldn't imagine raising a family there. Side note, Chicago had worse traffic overall (despite the public transit lol) but the worst drivers of anywhere I've been to on planet Earth live in ATL. Like... by far the worst drivers are Atlanteans.

Awesome analysis! Being a suburban resident technically, I love living in the metro area for the family aspect. It could be said differently for the actual city proper. The drivers are reckless and quite possibly some of the worst I've seen. But affordability and proximity to mountains are a huge plus!

Chicago everyday and twice on Sunday. Atlanta tries to punch above its weight class when matched up against big cities like Chicago. The only reason people move to Atlanta is because of the housing market. And even with that said, people are moving way outside of the actual city limits of Atlanta. I’ve been living ITP for over 13 years. I know people that moved from Northern cities and bought houses in McDonough and Gwinnett county but say they are in Atlanta. For people who like less dense cities then yea, Atlanta and the surrounding metro area is for you, but if you like a vibrant city with lots of people and lots of things to do within its city limits then Chicago is your place. All that said, this isn’t a snub to Atlanta because I definitely love Atlanta, but there is so little thought into even where you can go outside of the Marta stations. Out of all of the 38 Marta stations, there is maybe 4 or 5 stops that you could actually get out and do anything.

Great take! Chicago is truly urban in every way. Atlanta has a mix. I'd say age, lifestyle, and marital status are some big factors that determine what makes Chicago or Atlanta a better pick.

Chicago is a world class city Atlanta is irrelevant to the world only people moving there anyway are mostly black people and I’m black btw Atlanta maybe relevant to US Chicago and NY are the most recognizable cities in the US around the world not Houston, Atlanta, Dallas, San Francisco any other city that tries compare themselves to Chicago and NY Chicago is just like ny but smaller if we didn’t have NY we have Chicago only cities in America with a real world class feel and share the same vibes while also feeling different if people couldn’t afford ny but still want to live somewhere with diversity and that ny hustle and bustle you have Chicago but if you don’t want to live in Chicago you always have NY no other cities has that unique vibe, diversity, world class, aesthetic like Chicago and ny

if u think 🤔 Chicago is better then why do u think 🤔 everybody done move from Chicago to Atlanta because Atlanta is more popular and Atlanta has three of the best teams and that's the Atlanta Falcons Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Braves so don't u ever in your life say that Chicago is better then Atlanta because it's not.
@LionelLando9 ай бұрын
@@King12606😂 You're joking right? Sports teams? I don't like either city but you can't even compare the little village of Atlanta to Chicago. Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world and the second greatest after NYC in America which is why it has close to 3 million people just in the city limits and close to 10 million in the metro area. Chicago is the third largest in the country while Atlanta is 38th. Why do you think that is? Because Chicago is more popular. Chicago also has beaches while Atlanta is landlocked. Chicago in the summer and it's urban beaches in Lake Michigan are unbeatable which makes Chicago the best city in the US in the summer and it's been ranked as America's best overall big city 7 years in a row.

Doesn’t make Atlanta a better city Chicago has way more black people than Atlanta Chicago has about 700-800k black people Atlanta is not even close Chicago has more diversity for a reason because alike nyc Chicago has a lot to offer to people of every race/ethnicity Black people are destroying themselves in Chicago and making it hard on their self not white people only reason downtown has way more to offer black people than entities Atlanta and it’s metro put together but black peoples rather skill each other then take those opportunities

I'm sorry but there is no competition here, Chicago is a better city in every single metric. The only thing I'm willing to give Atlanta is it's proximity to other big cities. It would be better to compare Chicago to New York.
@george_cantstandya8 ай бұрын
Chicago does not compare in anyway to New York. New York dwarfs Chicago.
@wchandler20108 ай бұрын
@@george_cantstandya Well yes of course NYC is the largest city in the country by a long shot. My point wasn’t that Chicago is comparable in size to NYC. We all know that Chicago is huge but nowhere near the size of NYC however, my point was a better comparison to Chicago would be New York City, I would say it’s the only city in the US that’s comparable to New York City if you’ve been to Atlanta, you know there’s no comparison between Chicago and Atlanta.

Chicago hands down 💯 Chicago has more of a variety of things to do. City Limits of Chicago is way more diverse than Atlanta which is primarily white & black ( token other nationalities ) until you go outside of city limits of Atlanta where it has true diversity such as Marietta, Duluth, Doraville, etc…
