Nice touch that they sent you a ‘Scottish’ one too… But that sums up Accurascale from oysters to savoury. They’re very much an anagram of (Sir) ‘Alec Guinness’!

Brilliant looking locomotive. The only thing I saw on it on the debit side, you were just able to see the join, between the shades of grey, below the metals decal. But this is a pre production example, and I'm confident the production batch will have this ironed out! Also, I like the idea of a removable hatch, to get at the decoder socket. Next year, when I receive 60082, in coal livery, I'll have to do a comparison with 60062, from Hornby, which you sold me last year! But, a very interesting review, and excitement builds further for 60082 next year!

These logos will be refined on the production one. This is an area I fed back to Accurascale one, along with another couple of areas I saw that needed refinement. Accurascale trust me to be honest. What a refreshing approach. They didn’t give me any constraints….they gave me the model and said ‘do as you wish’. They clearly have confidence in the product and are big enough to take critical feedback.

The Tug was one of the most attractive locomotives brought out. It was designed to haul reasonably heavy freight trains, a job of which it does a good job.
@BritishRail600625 ай бұрын
I got to be honest here Dave, they have really committed to making a very good replica of the Class 60 model in OO Gauge. The flange squeal is realistic and the pulling power with that freight train with no helper DPU locomotives on the test train shows its brute strength in action. Accurascale has nailed it and I for one will have a small fleet of these. As for the Hornby model, that one is one of their best models in their diesel locomotive range and it will be a hard one to beat. The positive side of this debacle is that the public now has a choice of 3 brands to choose from. I don't know if you are a member of the Class 60 Group or not but there was an article where a driver got carried away in North Wales and got two Class 60's to run at 74mph or 81mph or something like that I think it was but it damaged the traction motors and it invalidated the warranty on those two Class 60's and they were connected with the MU cable in the process. As for the real things, I feel that if 60014 is a successful experiment to be overhauled by EMD/Progress Rail, that could mean a future for the others that are recently bought by Land Recovery UK. Sticking with the model though. I think 2025 could be the year of the Class 60 and I look forward to doing a video of mine as well in 2025. All the best, Peter.

@@RedShedNick Happy to help but if you are into the Class 60's like me. I do recommend joining the Class 60 Preservation Group like I have as I am going to help them get one of these monsters for preservation. Not an easy task but with 60081 being owned by LSL trains that is now part of the Hornby 1:1 collection. I think anything is possible. I hope that in 2028/2029 that Accurascale will make one in O Gauge as I will use mine on RC dead rail with bluetooth control and I going to be doing the same with my Heljan O Gauge models.

900g?! Blimey!! I've got 60 015 Bow Fell ordered in Transrail, plus two from Cavalex for coal, clay and aggregates trains. Really looking forward to them, and it will be interesting to see how these two manufacturers compare in a direct head to head. I think we're lucky to have two quality 'disruptors' in the hobby. Hopefully, one of them will knock out some LPG tank wagons for me!

Wonderful layout and first look. May I ask which paint you use on your track, it seems somewhat different from the usual brownish sleeper grime....I like the more greyish hue of your rails.

Hi, it’s sleeper grime with some roof dirt to tone it down and some oil staining from Phoenix paint in areas. But it’s mainly the Railmatch sleeper grime and Railmatch roof dirt I use.

@3:13...not to sure about the beige coloured pipe moulding above the bogie springs which I assume is supposed to be two pipes running together but it gives the appearance of an unrefined thick single pipe plastic moulding lacking definition and sort of detracts from the rest of the loco.

Nice video, but if I may add one comment, I think it's a little bit lacking how you mention nothing about the actual running charactaristics. Previous Accurascale locomotives (Deltics, 37's) have had issues with unlevel curves and points and don't have centre axles with good sideways play. If I may ask, how is that with these models? Can the centre axles move from side to side?
@DeanPark5 ай бұрын
Hi. Thanks for watching. I ran this loco at toy train set speeds through crossings, turnouts and over all curved sections. It never missed a beat. The bogie has good rotation. It’s ran smoothly, and performed very similarly to my Class 92 in terms of track handling. I found that There was adequate movement on the wheel sets to cope with all of the track work I put through. I’m afraid I didn’t have any uneven curves. However I do have banked curves on the mainline and it coped with these, even when transitioning from a turnout to a banked curve. In over an hour of continuous running and testing it did not derail. I know what you mean about the Deltic. It can be a bit clunky over some track, esp tighter curves. Cheers Dave

@@DeanPark Thank you for the detailed information! Good to hear the running characteristics of the 60's seem good. If the pre production samplrs are already an improvement over previous locomotives the production models should be without flaw. Cheers!

That's a really great model. I love a model that runs well, and that one does superbly. I find the prototype rather ugly and unappealing - but that is likely because I left Britain in 1982 and never saw this in action. I suppose it has its own appeal, in a brutalist sense.

What company has?! If you look at Hornby. Bachmann, Heljan, Cavalex, dapol….all of their published launch estimations slip. I’d rather wait a few months for a more refined product than have it rushed to market and be wrong, poorly designed etc. things never happen quickly in this hobby. Which can be frustrating.

@Simon-Davis5 ай бұрын
There are a couple of little details I hope they address on the production models. The windscreen screws are conspicuous by their omission, after a few weeks in service those flush fitting screws became quite obvious. I actually prefer the Hornby model in that regard, though they do need toning down. The bodyside grill etch as it currently sits is somewhat disappointing in this day and age, yes its visible clean through but the etch itself seems somewhat flat and undefined. Accurascale did a better job with the class 37 roof fan grill, so we know that they can do good etches. Hopefully they also correct the red light lenses, the real things had red lenses. Its shaping up to be a very good model, but it'll need to be as the Hornby model is still very competent and the EP samples of the Cavalex class 60 look sharper.
@DeanPark5 ай бұрын
It’s a pre production model. I’m sure all issues will be addressed before production. I can’t comment on the Cavalex one as I’ve not been asked to look at that one. I’ve only got the Hornby and accurascale ones to physically judge.

@DeanPark5 ай бұрын
Not sure if it’s decline, in terms of the detailed items coming out from manufacturers. Crap motors were an issue post Covid with companies struggling to source quality items. Lack of production in China etc. That was the same across all manufacturers of all items from cars to kettles!….trying to secure the quality they sourced prior to the Covid crash.
