Nice touch that they sent you a ‘Scottish’ one too… But that sums up Accurascale from oysters to savoury. They’re very much an anagram of (Sir) ‘Alec Guinness’!

Flats are really looking nice and you've had some good suggestions for what to call your 'estate' I'm chipping in with 'Gasworks estate' 'Ever-Hard estate' & from my partner Bernadette - 'Heed da Ball Estate'

Very nice-looking model indeed, lots of nice detail. On a different note, as I passed Norwich Station this morning, I became a train spotter for the first time... Three yellow Railfrieght coaches with a blue coach were sitting in the sidings with a wonderful class 37 attached sitting yards from me gently ticking over. Sporting a Colas scheme, 37 116 was a lovely sight, absolutely filthy, but the old girl really sounded nice. Such a tribute to British engineering to see this still operating after all these years. Sadly, work beckoned, and I could wait to see if she was off to work or had just arrived. I probably need to buy an anorak now 😅

It's a Great looking model, but it has to be one of the ugliest looking locos I've seen in a long time! As you eluded to in a picture, I now just see a 'shed-on-wheels'

Well, after your review of the Accurascale Deltic, I can see this company is leaps and bounds above most model train companies. I am a scale model maker, and this 37 really does look the part...its the small details I enjoy. Since watching your videos, I'm really considering getting my all-time favourite locos & Accurascale seem to me the firm favourite to head for. Having a 37 with Vulcan 558 livery, as I saw at Norwich Station years back, would be an ideal 'wish for', and a 45 009 would complete my top 3. With no layout (other than my friends layout under construction), I'd have nowhere to run them, although at this level of detail, they would make a lovely wall display... ..anyway, onwards

Superb product, the big deal here is the price as its very reasonable. The Viessmann equivalent is extremely expensive that's why I never bothered installing on my layout. Saying that my track plan is very unrealistic to install overhead catenary anyway. Great information.

Great video lad 👍 personally my favourite loco would be the Cavalex 56,I have 3 on order including 2 from my area 56134 "Blyth Power" & a renumbered Loadhaul 56050 "British Steel Teeside" , also I'm hoping Accurascale do Test Coach 6 in RTC as that can run behind my Hornby 60 60001 Steadfast

Hi, great review, I also bought the Bachmann HSDT power car (also sound fitted), I also bought the Hornby beaver tail, 1 of the coach packs & have got the other 3 on pre order with a model shop, I also bought the EFE rail Plasser crane in BR yellow, it's a little disapointing that it's a static model, DCC controlled model cranes are available on the continent, BUT they are 100's of Euros, I couldn't see UK modelers willing or able to pay that, I think it's been a good Year for new releases, Happy new year to you.
@DeanPark13 күн бұрын
Cheers. Have a great 2025. Yeah I don’t think the UK modeller would fork out £100’s for a working crane of this type. Nice model though. But I can get why some would want it to operate etc. Cheers Dave

Happy New Year Dave, looking forward to seeing your videos in 2025. Please keep ignoring the dross that some folk post on here. It’s not worth focusing on. Some interesting picks for model loco of the year! Can’t say I agree personally (I would have gone Cavalex 56 and maybe something Accurascale) but that’s the beauty of opinions! All the best!
@DeanPark14 күн бұрын
The 56 is a capable model, but I can’t see past my high speed trains haha. Especially in the exec livery. That won it for me. The amount of spam accounts I have been riddled with this year is ludicrous let alone the dross posted in comments sections. Which is actually in the main very positive! I like what I do, I’m grateful if some people do too. It’s only a hobby after all. :-) Cheers and all the best. Dave

Great content as we come to expect from your expertise, but the Hornby Locomotion No1 was not featured. What is your thoughts on this superb masterpiece ?

Hi. I only feature models I’ve added to the collection. So models like hornbys locomotion 1, Rapido jones goods, accurascale’s 31 etc etc couldn’t feature. But having seen the loco 1 in person I think it’s a great wee loco. And bravo to Hornby for taking on such models.

Really stunning Dave. I agree with Greg below, much better than any of our exhibitions we see in Australia. Sadly in Perth, Western Australia, the annual exhibition of model railways is losing popularity. However, this coming year I look forward to joining you all in Perth, Scotland for the exhibition, after catching up with my relatives further north. Kind Regards, Angus Stewart.

@@DeanPark It is understandable. My take on this issue is... Buy the new stuff coming out that you need (due to the better detail and running ability), and gradually sell off your older locos and Rail cars at Model Train Events to pay for new purchases. I also pick an era.... 1980-1990 for example.

I admire your hope for the red stripe scotrail 47 Dave, I wouldn't hold your breath young sir. I'm sure there was only about 5 or 6 examples of them. They'd obviously look the part on your layout but 47492 The Enterprising Scot, nigh on sums you and the layout up. Talking of 47s, i just love your moels of 47363, it's a stunner. Also 37043 BR Blue with the white stripe, odd times I'd see that very loco at Carlisle, Tyne Yard in the North East England as well as its native Scotland. Sadly Im not sure if its a 2024 model. Of the new ones, I'd have to say 37371. Please forgive me when i say, I can't get excited about HSTs at all, real ones or model ones, that's the ole rail enthusiast in me, they may have been revolutionary in railway circles but they also killed loco hauled turns, old habits die hard,, sorry Dave but that's only my opinion anyway. It's about what you like, not me. Great video though Dave. Looking forward to the future builds on the layout, as well as new additions. Thank you for sharing all the video this year. Hope you have a good hogmanay. All the best for 2025.

Hi Dave, An interesting selection with regard to your models of the year. I was surprised the Accurascale 2nd run Deltic didn’t appear on your video, but I guess with your hard earned cash being spent elsewhere, there are only so many models you can buy in a year. Also I have a couple of the Cavalex class 56 & these are superb. I thought these would have made your top 2…… HNY. Colin.
@DeanPark15 күн бұрын
Hi, The new Deltic arrived too late to feature. I’d edited the video by then. But they are stunners! It was a close call between the 56,66,HST and even the bach 37 to get the top spots. Even the a4 sir Nigel was a contender for me. Oh I’ve too many bloody models 😝 All the best. Dave

Great video Dave, as always. My 2024 No.1 loco has to be the Accurascale Class 66 Prostate Cancer 66769. I did eventually get one from Accurascale from a few they held back in case of warranty claims and what a loco it is. It was my best buy in 2024, in fact it was my only purchase in 2024. Looking forward to your videos in 2025 and hopefully I'll be able to produce more than just 7 videos. Have a happy new year Dave and see you in 2025. Regards Bob at Nomad Railway.

As you pick your top 10 of 2024, I've just finished with your top 2021... Another year of videos binged & gorged upon... Highlights have been seeing the factory come together, along with some weathering up of rolling stock to add extra realism into the layout. Righty'O onwards into 2022

Hi, I got the triple grey livery Bachmann class 20, it was the updated model that was in the Permanent Way set many years ago, it would be great if Bachmann did a re-run of that set with a Ransom & Rapier crane in network rail yellow livery along with those departmental yellow livery coaches that Bachmann don’t bother with anymore.
