His explanations are if you already have a "good" team though. I've played more "random" (quick play) games and I can tell you that your chances of winning will go up dramatically with a good doc because more than likely YOUR Friends (unless they are also his friends) and/or the "randoms" you play with will need the healing and trauma resistance WAY more than his friends do. I agree w/ his explanations of the other cleaners, they're spot on, but I would definitely recommend DOC and MOM for every nightmare game, they don't necessarily need to both have healing cards since mom's benefits (that he even highlighted here) still apply even when she's not healing.

Agreed, even as someone who's first character and first main was Doc. After the massive nerf to the Medical Expert + Experienced EMT combo, the free heal from cabinets on Nightmare, AND the nerf to trauma in general, Doc just isn't as strong a pick as she used to be IMO. I've found myself feeling a bit useless whenever I played Doc with a team that is actually good (Which means avoiding a lot of unnecessary damage and not really having a need for my heals). And while you can make a similar argument against Mom (Not needing her if the team doesn't make many mistakes), Doc's ability to *mitigate* mistakes does not compare to Mom's ability to outright *eliminate* them (Instant revive, extra life, and immediate extra support inventory are all a godsend on Nightmare) and even the best of teams can make mistakes (which on Nightmare, mistakes can easily lead to death so that extra life and instant revive is very nice) which is why Mom has ALWAYS been such a strong pick on Nightmare. I bet the new difficulty is literally just gonna be old Nightmare (No free heal from cabinet, no free extra life, Ridden damage back to where it was, and potentially old mutation health numbers) with a few additions, making Mom look even MORE valuable than Doc IMO. Before I think both were very close in value, but at this moment, Mom definitely feels stronger overall and I don't see this changing in the next big update unless they buff Doc again.

Mark for death is fine the way it is. It doesn't just you add damage, but also self awareness that can keep your team safe. Its solid enough for any situation

@@Tevron_ I'm mostly talking for quick play here, but if they don't want to design with that in mind okay then. With Walker, I won't use marked for death because he already gets the ping and I can't justify a card for 10% more team damage. Without walker being an issue, it's really deflating when I pick marked for death and see another teammate who already is using it knowing that one of us just wasted a card because it doesn't stack. Sure people can ping more things, but half the card is wasted and there is even less incentive to use it after walkers change, so I disagree, needs reworked in my opinion.

I really think if you play well, stamina and use speed are the most valueable stat in the game, since you can outrun any threat in the game and open things quickly. There are so many scenarios in the game where just running to the nearest safe spot is the best decision. Therefore my pics would be Karlee, Holly , Hoffman then Mom or Doc.

Karlee has been my main since launch, Love playing her. Im the designated toolkit holder and callout guy. The amount of times a callout helps over the course of a run is nutty, running ahead clearing all sleepers, warning of spitters or tallboys coming around a corner or behind a door etc. Not to mention that use speed teamwide buff. Karelee and hoff are 2 best characters in the game. Sharice is very good too and underused.

I'm not sure that it's fair to say that your team should just play better to trivialize Doc's team effect, and then turn around to say that you should actually play bad enough to utilize Mom's. I can see where Doc needing to pick up NotM slows down her deck, but honestly... picking that card is picking the best part of Mom's kit. I wouldn't say most Doc's are inclined to build revive speed, especially in a game where your teammates can still deal meaningful damage while down. And I'm sure Mom decks also include more support inventory anyways. The bonus life early game may help the team take a blow, but Doc's early game is significantly better at making sure the down doesn't happen in the first place, especially when taking advantage of GT (which, btw, is actually 10 by default with her healing efficiency), which alone reaps in a potential 120 HP that mom cannot give. Also, I don't know this myself, but if the trauma resistance reduces incap trauma, then a doc with NotM is actually cushioning the blow of getting a down better than Mom can unless Mom builds Rousing Speech; and her building Rousing Speech means that she can't use offensive accessories.

It all depends on how well ur team plays. I agree on two points, Nightmare is a whole ‘nother monster and Hoffman & Mom are best suited for that level, imo…… and Karlee is a top pick on any level; her weapons are kick-arse (again, just my opinion) U kind of surprised me w/ Walker over Evangelo but after ur reasons, it made sense. Me and my buddies can’t run nightmare without Hoffman or Mom anymore. We always have at least those two on the team. Mom frees up a card to not run Needs of the Many, the instant revive is amazing for mistakes, and she can carry extra meds without slots. Hoffman just saves us money and ammo. Reducing economy prices by spawning in the consumables we use and topping us ammo as we go helps a lot.

Your picks are definitely team oriented. sadly most players play the "solo style" which makes no sense in a team based game. also Hoffman is by far one of the best support/dmg rolls in the game and definitely agree mom is the better pick for a team medic as that extra life is crucial as more players able to stay alive means more bullets flying at the ridden.

I mean, playing holly melee makes nightmare mostly trivial. A deck with combat knife for hordes, personal healing, damage resistance and damage cards using a fire axe - allows me to carry whatever braindead team i find in quick play. With a good team I fall asleep when playing holly (I still provide value, I just don’t have to carry). The way she can tank hits and on top of that heal yourself, prevents your team from taking damage which helps with economy, trauma and team coordination.

I'm a Mom/Karlee main by choice so I entrirely endorse your selections! Mom is my first choice, Ranch Rifle is a my go to gun given a choice. The insta revive is a must have for the "Oh shit!" moments and extra support items never hurt anyone. Karlee is a mate's go to so we usually have that covered but I'll pick up the slack there when required. Mom ranks higher for me though. Hoffman? I don't do offensive items much, too busy shooting things with a Two Is One build so usually only pack flashbangs for Breakers, Hags, Ogres etc or that one time you need the birds gone. Walkler has always been a firm favourite but then I don't hate the M4 (I'm still grabbing an AK though) and I adore the Glock. I should use him and Marked For Death more but again, usually running with a mte that has that covered so doubling up is just a wasted card.

For me its Jim, Karlee, Hoffman, and either Heng or Sharice. Starter weapons are irrelevant because you can switch it to be any at the start of the first level or at any time in other levels upon finding weapons crates. I personally use Jim solely for the +25% reload speed, everything else from that point is a bonus. The food bonus from heng makes everything flow quicker. And ill admit i missed all the free armor sharice provides when shes not around. It literally saved my entire team just because i was able to tank 4 free hits from an ogre while reviving all 3 downed teammates. Just barely got out in time. Personally i like the m4 for its reload speed, ammo cap, solid rof, and low recoil. Typically paired with a vector as a secondary, but thats mainly so i can exploit its momentum. Not kidding, you jump at the right time mid fire with a vector and wandering eye you can just skip a ton of bullshit

Question! What advice would you give for teams trying to upgrade our support items, but the shop just DOES NOT want to offer the team support item upgrades? Is it still not worth bringing doc? I had a run where we were dealing with the snitches at the church in act 2, and we just NEVER were offered the healing upgrade. It definitely made things very difficult

I don't know why you pit Mom and Doc against each other. In my opinion they compliment each other. I'd prefer to use both as the foundation of my team. Use Doc fully focused on healing, and Mom for reviving people (give her the two revive cards) and carrying extra medical supplies. Use the rest of her cards for either LMG build or Sniper Build. Use either Walker, Jim, Karlee or Holly for the remaining two spots.

I have to disagree about Mom and Doc. Mom is useful, but only in the extra lives area. The 3 free doc heals are more economic than a single slot of meds on mom. moms single use revive can be anytime that fast with smelling salts on doc.

For my team I play Karlee and I stack all the use speed cards so I can use things quickly. It also means that I stack revive speed upgrades (one that reduces incoming damage and the one that boosts the revived person's health) which means I can heal as fast as Mom + I run needs of the many so my job takes Moms and I still get Karlee bonuses.

Mom offers an extra life, not a continue. Lives are the + icons above your health that show how many times you can be incapacitated before outright dying.

I feel like when your playing with players who all know what they are doing and understand the teamplay aspects of the game, like a 4 man, the best are: Holly, Mom, Karlee, and Jim. Good Holly Melee players can completely reduce damage for every other player if they are playing properly and taking hits and protecting everyone an its like artificial dr is how i look at it, if your taking most of the damage since you have healing on your own; and you shouldnt run excessive melee speed imo, rather more DR. Mom's Life is nice but insta res is kinda slept on by alot of players. Jim is only ineffective if people just don't pay attention to roamers but a good team will so more damage is just better, and a good team is gonna drop a horde clearing pistol for jim to hold at the start of the game 99% of the time. and Karlee for the same reasons said. Holly and Jim i think are 2 of the highest impact potential characters on any team, followed by Mom for the sole reason of (sometimes runs are so smooth, her passives have little value)

When I play, I still main Evangelo. He can do melee just as good as Holly imo. He may not get the stamina perk but his regen makes up for it when a team is holed up and that extra move speed really can get ya out of tight spots. It's not a large amount but just enough most times to get better positioning with a horde on your heals. And that free breakout can be a game saver.

In public games, it is filled with players who position poorly, getting hit all the time, slow response time, and also triggering hordes left and right accidentally. If that happens neither mom nor doc can save the situation, just leave the game. But I do agree to use mom over doc in most situations due to "amp up" being a thing now, while doc is good that she could heal more trauma than the rest, with Temp health, you actually can manage it. If you are rich, the cabinet will solve all your trauma problems. If your team doesn't take much damage, you don't need a doc. Also, I am a big fan of the ranch rifle, it is such a good AR.

I'm my particular play group Evangelo's team move speed is almost necessary because my friends are dumb and all think that the negative move speed penalties on certain cards are completely negligible, and will stack them. One of them in particular always starts admin reload/down in front, then his next 3 cards are basically always ammo mule, double grenade pouch, and shoulder bag. He does not have increased move speed cards in his deck to compensate and won't listen to reason. So he gets 15% negative move speed for the boat with an unsupported admin reload build and gets left behind every time. I have recently gone back to karlee and I'm just letting him eat shit.
