Hi, my name is Jen I am 44 and live in Connecticut with my husband and 8 year old son. I am a stay-at-home Mom and full-time KZbinr with a degree in business with a focus in marketing. Before leaving work when my son was born, I was a commercial lender at a bank. I also worked at Sephora and Macy's doing visual merchandising.
I have dry skin with some hyperpigmentation and fine lines. I love natural makeup looks but occasionally go outside my comfort zone a little bit. If you are watching make up videos you are at high risk of spending money!!!! Lol. I have never bought so much make up since I discovered make up videos on KZbin. Jen is very very honest, I have not caught her in a lie (regarding products of course) and I’ll be honest, I’ve caught most of the content creators not being truthful…ugh which sucks because then you know you can not trust their reviews. Jen is a genuine sweetheart. I’m 52, used to have oily skin until menopause hit and since my skin is definitely not as oily. I have purchased a few of Jen’s looks and have not been disappointed yet. She refreshed my love and passion for makeup and she has helped me update how I wear my makeup. Apparently I was still in the 2000’s! Lol

I finally tried Essence’s Pretty Natural foundation and was absolutely blown away how flawless it has made my mature skin look! I have finally found the perfect foundation! I've had issues with foundations being too shiny, so I decided to try the LA Girl promatte foundation to see if my dry skin could tolerate it. It really surprised me to find it wasn't drying and the finish is beautiful! It didn't sink into my pores and lines, doesn't transfer and makes the skin feel soft instead of tacky. And it was $7! Hidden gem. Totally agree with the Revlon foundation - I wear it almost every day.

Ulta has a concealer - Full Coverage Liquid Concealer - that came out YEARS before the Natasha Denona concealer but they are very, very similar. Down the applicator - that kind of moveable, flower petal like applicator. Both have the consistency is serum-like and high coverage. The Denona concealer has more in it (ND: 7ml versus U: 4.8 ml) and it is very good, I like it as well, but for pple on a strict budget the Ulta version does a great job.

After seeing you talk about the revlon concealer a while back I tried the neutralizer shade for my blue dark circles under my eyes and I LOVE IT! It really does look smooth and stays gorgeous all day; and I only need a tiny bit. If I use too much it will crease but if I use a little it is gorgeous.

Totally agree with both serum foundations with the alcohol content. It dries my skin out so badly.

Unfortunately, L'Oreal has been retiring some of their older foundations, including one that worked quite well for me, and replacing them with products with alcohol. From what I've read, alcohol (aka SD 40 or alcohol denat.) helps products apply smoothly, but it just isn't good for the skin. Fatty alcohols are different and are beneficial to the skin.

I tried the ND concealer as an all over foundation today as I’ve seen her do and it really dried out my skin. So surprising. Didn’t see alcohol in the ingredients but it does have some fruit extracts and fragrance.

I'm 55 w/ combo oily T-zone , tan skin and I love the newly formulated L'Oréal True Match Blendable. It is light weight and alcohol free, perfect to everyday . The Heimish Moringa Ceramide BB Cream has become one of my favorite foundations, I love the feel of it on my skin, the coverage is just right for me, and with my oily skin it lasts 6 hours before I even start to get shiny, which is pretty good for me. I also have been enjoying the ND Hy Glam concealer, the consistency isn't too heavy, it gives the right amount of coverage that I need, and it lasts the whole day on me.

I have super dry skin, too. Have you ever tried BareMinerals Complexion Rescue? I didn't like it at first. But then found it works well with the Maybelline Mineral Power Finishing Veil ( bottom shelf at all the Walmarts in my area). It has been my go-to combo ever since.

I love ND hyglam concealer. I saw someone use it all over the face as foundation and I tried that. Now let me tell you ladies...it's perfection for my 41 year old dry skin, specially this time of the year. I have been using it non stop. Beautiful formula. Rarely wear foundation these days. I also tried the EL Double wear for the first time this year. I ❤it. I have oily skin and this keeps me non-oily and lasts all day. For a cheaper version I like Cover Girl + Olay Simply Ageless foundation.

I’m agree with Maybeline skintint have a lot of denatured alcohol. It’s not good if you wear for long term it will make your skin sensitive and I am Asian with medium skin and have melasma I am staying away from any foundation have alcohol. I wear Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation everyday for almpst 3 months now. I love it. I mix it with a little primer and apply it with a sponge over my concealer. Stays put all day. No touch-ups required.

All of my favorite sunscreens are Korean. They know what they’re doing!! I love the Joseon sunscreen, but because I have combo oily skin I use it in the morning as my moisturizer/sunscreen combo. Later in the afternoon after my workout and shower I wear the Missha Soft sunscreen. It’s great for oily skin, but it still gives a slight healthy glow.

Hi Jen, here is the sun screen I’ve been using, so good. Skin 1004 Hyaluronic -Cica water fit sun serum, another Korean sun screen 50++++. This is so thin disappears into your skin right away no smell at all, it’s great.

I just retried the Maybelline skin tint again today (ironically). I am combo oily in my t zone. You are right, initially this looked great but then quickly I realized no! I looked oily and dry in my t zone if that even makes sense.

I really like the Beauty of Joseon spf, too. When I reorder that one, I will also order Cosrx Aloe Soothing Sun cream and the Skin1004 spf. All three have that lovely smooth texture and don’t cause issues around my sensitive eyes. Thank you for these in depth reviews!

Hey Jenn, just wanted to ask if you've ever tried Looxie Beauty's eyeshadow formula?? It was recommended by a freien who says they're great. Apparently they have amazing duo chrome eueshadow singles called Auroras which are only a couple of bucks each. I'm def trying out a few shades!!

I also am enjoying the Heimish Moringa Ceramide tinted moisturizer. I use the same shade. Please try the Covergirl trublend hydrating foundation in L4. Make sure you get the hydrating version. It's my HG. Doesn’t misbehave on dry skin!

always love the end of year roundup videos. this was a great year of makeup releases, but quite a bunch of duds as well 😂 the maybelline skin tint should’ve been marketed towards people with oily and combo skin. with oily skin i find i enjoy the skin tint a lot, but i can see how drying it would be for someone with drier skin. another issue with the essence foundation and concealer was the poor shade range.

I don't understand why people like the Elf hydro grip primer. At best, it does exactly the same thing as a decent moisturizer (smoothing wise), at worst, it doesnt let makeup grip onto skin properly, it can make makeup pill up, slip and slide... idgi. I got the matte putty primer as well, ND i enjoy that better from them.

The PURITO clearing bb cream is my absolute favorite! I’m very similar in skin tone to you Jen and I use the shade 21, light beige. It’s so lovely on its own but I also mix a bit of it in when a foundation pulls a little too yellow on me.

Jen when you have a chance try the L'oreal age perfect concealer in the skinny tube and the 4 in 1 face balm. Both look so smooth and the concealer covers and brightens. They both end up being a favorite for me.

Love these wrap up videos. This year I, too, have developed a love for Korean sunscreen and Korean BB creams. I'm interested to try that concealer, because I believe that Maybelline did change the formula for the age rewind. I found it to be really thick and almost dry putting on.

Hi, Jen! I've discovered the Korean brand Purlisse for my winter skin care. I use the Blue Lotus 4 in 1 skin milk, and moisturizer, plus I have several scrubs and serums, like dragonflies. My skin dries out terribly in winter, because I get windsurf. You're right; the Korean beauty lines seem to be far superior to US skin care. Can you tell me where you get the Josean(sp?) sunscreen. I'd like to try it. Even in winter, at the very least, I protect my face. I mentioned The Balm's Anne T Dotes tinted moisturizer. I'm really loving it. I've never had such a perfect match for my complexion before. They have Anne T Dotes in concealer, and they've got an even bigger selection of colours. I wouldn't be surprised if you found a perfect match. They are having a big sale right now. I use the Meet Matte Hughes liquid lipstick. It's not drying,and has some terrific shades! The only matte, long lasting liquid lipsticks I can stand are Stila. I don't hear a lot about Stila anymore, which is a real shame, because their lipsticks are great, and their mascara is unreal! It gives me the thickness I want, and makes my already long, curly lashes obscenely long and curly! I have people ask me what brand of falsies I'm wearing, and I love the looks I get when I tell them it's my own natural lashes! I'm definitely going to have to try the ELF lip mask you mentioned. Have you tried their lip oils? How did you find them? My sister used to live in CT before she got married. I used to come visit all the time. She lived in Shelton. To get to Shelton, you had to drive through Derby. We always called it Dirty Derby, for obvious reasons! We'd often zip over to Bridgeport to the mall, or we'd run around Manhatten. Those were the days! This was back in the 90s, mind, when it was safe to run round the City. My sister and I were silly twentysomethings, looking for fun, lol! We are Generation X, and we are very used to taking care of ourselves, even now. Back then, my brother was in yhe Navy, and out to sea. Of course, you want your sister as your "partner in crime," lol!

I get the Joseon sunscreen at iHerb (I linked it in the description box). :) I did try the elf lip oils but I didn't like them because they made my lips feel numb...maybe some sort of reaction? Also I had to laugh when you mentioned Derby...we say the same thing. I knew someone who lived in Shelton and we had to drive through Derby to get there too.😂 Ah...Manhattan in the 90's was the best! I'm too afraid to go there anymore.

I can replicate your results with the Heimish but not the EL….now that we are in winter, it is clinging to every fine line and texture. I get much better results with Glossier Stretch.

I ordered the Revlon concealer and since I love to try Korean sunscreens, I added the Heimish and Hero ones to my wish list. I bought the Heimish BB cream during the black Friday sale and like to use it on days where I want easy/fast makeup. Looking forward to your other 2023 recommendations. Thanks.

Hi! Love your videos!! I wonder if you have tried the hourglass setting powder? I always used the ultra blur Laura Mercier. But I took the dive with hourglass. I am in my 50’s and for the first time can use a powder all over my face-and use a brush to apply. It’s a bit of magic.

Great video! It's a good reminder to revisit some of the stuff we may have pushed to the back of the drawer. 2023 Best primer: Danessa Myricks blurring balm. Foundation: MAC studio radiance. My goodness, it's incredible! It's a perfect color and undertone match, it is truly transfer resistant, long lasting ,blurring , a hint of radiance. Worst- Iconic London skin tint. It just sits on top of the skin, and never dries down, even when mixed with another foundation. I don't wear spf, so nothing there. Best concealer is a tie between the Kiss Pro touch full coverage concealer and the new Lancome Care/glow concealer. Both are beautiful, creamy, a little goes a long way, and doesn't crease on these 45 yr old eyes. Worst: Natasha Denona concealer. Initially I liked it, but it dries too fast and patchy.
