@karmatosed72113 жыл бұрын
Jakob, ur awesome and I'm a big fan of ur content. It's super informative while also entertaining, and I'll prolly watch ur content for as long as it's made. However, this video just verifies my disdain for cubasis. So mobile Steinberg users are just now getting the ability to do what we've always been able to do with aum? or ab? prolly some others? But more so than that, this video illustrates how annoying the cubasis workflow is. I recently worked up the nerve and bought Cubasis, and no DaW whether desktop or mobile has been more annoying to learn and I have almost all of them on both platforms. I've had to google the most simple tasks constantly, and my workflow just doesn't allow for that kind of time wastage. I absolutely love mobile production, but I've found myself gradually slipping back to desktop more and more. At least until the mobile game gets a little more serious. It's just Steinberg has no excuse, they're a multi-million dollar company. The one man behind NanoStudio does as good a job as the whole Steinberg team? That just makes me want to stay away from Cubasis on principle, and honestly makes me a little better that they got my money. Keep churning out the rockin' content though Jakob, ur good in my book I won't hold ur Cubasis crush against ya. =P
@JakobHaq3 жыл бұрын
And I’m not going to hold your disdain for Cubasis against you either! 💋 Yeah I’m a true Cubasis and Cubasis fanboy for sure. But then again I’ve been able to create so much with it for years. @@JakobHaq haha touche my friend, touche. 🥶. I at least managed to catch cubasis on sale some weeks ago. But knowing I coulda taken that $36 & made my daughter's day with another useless toy that'll be forgot about in a month makes it burn just a bit. She's near spoiled anyways though. But this kinda thing also highlights the inadequacies of no sound reason between mobile & traditional production. Almost every pc/osx DaW gives a free trial period, I mean you don't even have to buy gear to get 3 months of ableton 11 suite which is insane. Yet no one in the mobile game does this. And N-Track don't count hah. I suppose ZenBeats would be the only & closest thing to that on mobile? It just doesn't make sense, but is what it is I guess. I still have a blast with FL Studio Mobile all the time while hating desktop FL, so I suppose I don't make all that much sense either. What does make sense is Yonac's ToneStack Pro for $5 & these Haq Attacks. My respect for ya goes beyond music & production though Jakob, you deserve some success with ur content & I enjoy seeing ur subs increase. I bet you'd have a pretty cool crowd show up for discord chats. Just sayin.. 🤪

I wish they opened up the busing system to have more options. For example doing sends to fx tracks with multiple effects (chorused reverb for example). That would also open up the sidechaining possiblities, like having a “silent” send track that’s only used as a sidechain source.

I've not been able to get near my iPad today so I only have this review to go on (thanks Jakob 😊). All of the updates you described look excellent and kudos to Steinberg for implementing them. But ... Well there had to be a "but", didn't there? I'm a long time DAW user who has only recently made the leap of faith to move to iOS. I'll show my age now by telling you that I used 'Pro 16' on the Commadore 64, followed by Cubase 2.0 on the Atari ST :o So, there is a point to this ramble - honestly. For all of the brilliant features which are being made available as free updates - applause. There are some things which are missing though ... still. And they were available even in the early days. I write music, not purely beats - and please don't take that as any kind of an insult, it's not intended to be. But music has ebbs and flows, or it should have. Two ways that can be achieved is via tempo changes and time signature changes. So why are we still waiting for a master track? I'd genuinely like to know if there is some technical difficulty which I'm just unaware of that stops these two features from being added, as standard. It seems to me to be plain number crunching - which is what computers are best at. Or am I wrong? What am I missing? Two other things I'd like to see: 1) A marker track - again, what's so hard about that? and 2) Okay, this is probably a little 'out there' for many people, but in those early days of Cubase we had this 'thing' called a 'kicker tool'. It looked like a boot 👢 and you could use it to 'kick' notes along the piano roll editor in very small increments like three ticks earlier or one tick later. There was 192 ticks available if memory serves me right. It could be used as a very deliberate; manual, and user controlled 'humanise quantisation' tool. It was brilliant and I still fail to understand why Steinberg removed it ... but, more to the point, it would be a superb tool for a touch screen. Anyway, I've waffled on enough: if you have answers to any of the above that would be great. Otherwise, thanks for being a nice guy with a cool style of presentation. What's not to like? Great show 🙂 By the way, just in case I've left you wondering: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZy5Y6Kdl9lrjZY

@@JakobHaq i was just checking. I know my NanoKontrol 2 can use the auto preset but wasn’t sure if yours did (I honestly thought you needed the Mackie controller at first). Cool thing is, you can hook it up through the auto preset and still assign another controller at the same time! This definitely is the best Cubasis 3 update EVER!
@jrooney453 жыл бұрын
Jakob, thank you for this great overview of some great updates to Cubasis. I too am using the Korg NanoKontrol Studio controller. Everything works great but when I open a MIDI track and add an InterApp like iWavestations or iM1 whenever I push a transport button on the NanoKontrol Studio it plays a MIDI note from the InterApp synth I selected. Why is this? Is there a way to stop this? I have tried all the options for the MIDI settings globally and all the options I see for the individual track but it continues to trigger a MIDI note.
@jamesbastani42952 жыл бұрын
Still some very basic stuff is missing. What kind of a DAW doesn't let you inset empty measures inside a song form? If I want to insert 4 measures from bar 32-36, in a 220 measure project, I am plumb out of luck! I've worked around the tempo track by midi stretching, but it's clumsy and cumbersome.

Good video but disappointing app that makes punching impossible to do with any efficiency. In short, every time your re-record over a new section (punch in or just doing it manually) the prior recorded layer (event) is kept active. Then on playback you get all re-recorded layers playing back at once, with no way to mute them, or exclude from mix down. This is one of the most bizzare oversights in design of a DAW I have come across. In short if you need to edit recordings by re-recording sections or doing punches, DO NOT get this app.

No grouping (glue) of (audio) objects!?! No ripple editing! Region selection is a pain in the... No custom shortcuts! FX cause audible phasing. This software is way below of what is possible and neccessary - probably on purpose (to move people to Cubase eventually). Cubasis is only one step above garage band and cannot be used for professional work thus it's nothing more than a toy - and an expensive one at that. Clever but lame business model - typical of Yamaha.
