I just bought this car in March. Previously I owned a Supra and 4 series before this purchase. The wrap-around screen is amazing and I don't miss the buttons. I added the adaptive suspension and highly recommend that option. This is a daily driver that hasn't disappointed so far.

It's an amazing car for the price . Took delivery of an M340i in December and I couldn't be happier. Previously I had a 2016 M3, but this is darn close. But, given BMW's curious decisions, this is an M car that doesn't have the Bucky Beaver look so I'm down. It has been the perfect mix of everyday luxury and appropirate badassedness when I need to unleash.

Love the tanzanite. Had an m4 in that color. I was going to get the m340 but I wanted a manual and I found out that the m340 are made in Mexico. If your vin begins with a 3, it’s a Mexican bmw. I wanted a German bmw still made in Germany in manual so m3 base it is. And yes, I also have a 340i with a b58 and so I have both but when going for new, I stayed with German only. My vins begin with a W…. And I still have a shifter (6 speed in my case) in Aventurin red and ventilated seats :). Nice m340. Oh, the ASS (auto start stop) delete also made me fly off the handle. You have a great engine in that.. I enjoy my 340 to drive as much if not more than my 23 m3

I was looking at this for my next car when I’m ready to trade in my 2011 BMW 328i xDrive Wagon, but those screens/lack of physical buttons (including a real shifter!) is a deal breaker for me… otherwise great looking car! From now on I’m gonna buy Porsche or Audi products, they know how to integrate their screens!

@@Saifanddarren1 Sorry for the confusion! I was referring to the M3, which is a FULL M car. Even though the M340i is a very fast car, it’s still an M PERFORMANCE vehicle. Some call it HALF M. LOL! There are some BMW’s with M packages that are NOT M performance, and that can cause confusion. You see a bunch of M badges on a BMW but it’s all a package and no change in the engine at all. You can have a regular 3-series, an M performance 3 series like the M340i, and a “FULL” M 3-series, like the M3. There is a lot more to an M car than just 0-60 times. That’s what I meant.

I agree but after going to the dealer earlier this year fully intending to place an order for an M3 comp, I drove a RWD M3 Comp and then immediately drove an M340i and I ended up enjoying the M340 more, primarily due to it just being a more comfortable car for daily driving. I also drove an M5 which was my favorite by far but the M5 felt like a slightly bigger and faster M340i. It had the raw acceleration but also still a smooth but sporty suspension that wasn't harsh in sport mode the way the M3's suspension was. Also one thing I really didn't like about the M3 is that in sport mode, the throttle is SUPER twitchy and not comfortable for using around town but even more disappointing was that the normal mode was too soft and sluggish. There was no in between. On the M5 and M340i, the acceleration in eco mode was boring as expected but in sport mode, the response was that "just right" amount of sharpness and responsivness without being twitchy or hard to smoothly modulate. Anyways, I opted for the M340 with the m-performance exhaust, sport brakes/cooling pack, carbon fiber interior trim and adaptive m suspension and a few other options. Invoice price came to right at $70k and a similarly optioned M3 was going to be $93k.

I WISH the difference between the M3 and M340i in Australia was only $16000US ($23,000AUD)....... but in reality (in Australian Dollars), a LOW mileage second hand M340i is $85,000 plus on-roads of $5k, a new one is $120,000 Driveaway..... while a second hand M3 is $150,000 (plus on roads of $10,000), IF you can find one!!! and a new M3 between $175,000-$200,000AUD Driveaway...... this is why a bought my M340i xDrive with less than 5,000 miles on it for $86,000AUD plus onroads.... as it's DOUBLE the price to get an M3!!! I just got this car and I came from a 2020 m2 comp manual and this m340i smokessss it! This car has the features galore/comfort/ speed ! I wish it came in manual! But the only reason why I got this was because I moved to UT and I need xdrive and not that I have anything against M but if I’m going to spend the money on a sport car it’s going to be a Porsche 911. It feels like M cars lost its performance and they are just feel like heavy luxury cars with speed 🤷🏽‍♂️

I'm considering a m340i, is500 or saving some money and getting the Integra type s. M340i seems like the best daily but devoid of any feel. Is500 has the v8 but the rest of the car doesn't seem as sporty as the m340i. Integra type s seems like a good daily as well and most likely the most engaging or communicative of the bunch

This is definitely way more of performance oriented car than the IS500. I drove the is500 for about 2 hours. It was a lot of fun but this is definitely a step above that.

I've driven the CT4 BW and it's a great car but the automatic transmission in the one I drove wasn't nearly as crisp or smart as the ZF in the 340 and there is also quite a bit more rear seat/head room in the BMW as well as more trunk space and (in my opinion) a much better sounding engine/exhaust note. In head to head drag racing (if that matters to you) the BMW, despite having less power on paper, is also much faster and makes much more power with simple bolt on mods like a down pipe, intake and piggy back tune.

I also like the TLX, but the non-touch screen ruins it for me. I use carplay heavily and being forced to use a touchpad would drive me crazy. Also the TLX rear legroom is kinda tiny for how big it is.

@@myemailiscool I traded my RDX ASpec in for the M340i. I HATED that non-touchscreen infotainment system they put in it. Great Crossover/SUV, but man I hated that infotainment. Total PITA to use Car Play and the likes in it.

@@drb4134 It really is a dealbreaker on otherwise great cars. I don't get why Acura is all-in on this system, when the Honda system developed by the same company is leagues better. Look at the Integra, uses the civic's and it's great. I'm hoping Acura uses the fail-fast approach and ditches it quickly. I'd get an RDX with the google system that's in the accord touring.

Only problem I have is the cup holder in the door where you'd expect a speaker or storage pocket. Makes zero sense, isn't very fuctional, and causes a huge hump out into your knee or calf area that can be awkward to reposition your left leg for on long drives. It's minor, but a nit I have with it.

Love the car and of course the B58 motor. I hate absolutely hate, complete deal breaker with the screen thing. I can't understand why manufacturers are moving away from physical buttons. They rather us do everything through a screen or by voice command which takes longer. It's absolutely unnecessary. Voice commands you have to wake it first, hope it heard you, then wait until it oblige, then say your command and hope it understood you the first time. I rather press a button and be done with it. And I thought things is supposed to be intuitive. Too me this is manufacturers going backwards and raising prices because of it.

Totally agree. I have a 2020 m340 and I could never even handle losing the 10 media memory buttons. I use them all day (bc they can be programmed for almost anything, not just radio or Sirius stations). BMW LEAVE OUR BUTTONS ALONE! lol

I recently bought a new 2023 BMW M340i xDrive. It is a very enjoyable and fun driving machine. Except..... I hate the controls on this irritating car. Everything that you need to do you have to do through the center screen and many options are buried several layers deep. It is a horrible, lousy, poor, very difficult and time consuming design. Whoever designed this horrendous controls should be fired. I wish I knew these designs fault as I would have never bought this car. It is my fault. A big shame on BMW. Check these controls before you buy this model. You have been forewarned. Check everything thoroughly.
