Just got this deck box, and man… it is NICE. You can feel the quality when toying with it, and what’s better than this for Commander at the FLGS? Two decks, dice, counters, everything in one easy to carry package.

Buying two deck boxes a 20 bucks would also result in 40 bucks spend so I guess its worth it. I really thought about this deck box but I want each of my decks to have its own home.

It's a nice one. But yes, if it's for storage or you have lots of decks you want housing then it won't be the best bet. If you only ever take 2 with you and want something to take them in, this is it. 😊

We are in the middle of something similar to this. We will keep everyone posted. However, this XL box fits all inner and outer combos. It's genuinely huge! Only thing we haven't tried is 'thick' outers or triple sleeving.

Good choice of colour. The price did make me sharp inhale though! Doesn't work out to bad in £'s. 2 Commander decks and dice tray is enough for a good evening.

Honestly I play high level edh or Cedh primarily and I've been needing this for a while and 40 bucks compared to the cost of the 5 thousand dollar decks I'm putting inside it....I'm ok spending 40 bucks on the nice box that fits my double sleeved expensive decks.

I'm just getting back into Magic. What 200+ deck box would you recommend?

So we haven't reviewed many 200+ at this stage, but if you specifically want a box for 2 decks in one then this stronghold is decent for sure. The XL for me is worth it for extra space but it's not necessary unless you sleeve with the thicker inners. Personally though I prefer the flexibility of 100+ boxes and would just take 2 satin towers/cubes instead.

I know it sounds super niche, but can you test each box with a 'maximum thickness' deck? Either as part of your regular reviews or even as its own special video. One with 100 dragon shield outer sleeves, kmc perfect hard inner sleeves, and mostly foiled? At least once a month on some social media I see someone ask how to hold such a deck, and people recommend this line a lot. But it just doesn't fit. I'd love to have videos to refer people to when the question comes up. Not to mention video evidence of which boxes actually will fit a deck like this.

Hi Dane, this is a real hot topic at the moment isn't it? We haven't had the KMC hard inners in yet but will endeavour to get hold of some. As for which boxes fit what in, let's just say we are in the middle of a project. Hopefully there will be more out soon, but you are right, video evidence would solve a lot of the problems. As you can see in this video, a (non-foil) deck of 100 cards fits with gamegenic 'thick' inners and dragonshield outers as well as dragonshield resealables and dragonshield outers. But what you are suggesting my just be worth an extra video.

could you let me know what the differences are of the stronghold vs stronghold XL? Is it that much of a size difference in the deck storage compartments? I feel like both can hold 100 card commander deck double sleeved

The difference is about 11mm in width. You can fit pretty much any combination of double-sleeving into the XL versions of any Gamegenic deck box. The standard boxes (including each of the 2 compartments in the standard stronghold) are smaller than is needed for some combinations (100 dragonshield inners and outers will not fit). They would fit but there would be a lot of space around them. It's a very large box! The thickness would be about the same, but all other dimensions are smaller for Yu-Gi-Oh. 😊

It was slightly off, you aren't wrong. Suffice to say though that we perform these tests at length off camera and record to demonstrate the results we found. We do our best to replicate what we found and are very thorough. Good spot though, I hadn't seen that detail before 😬

It does not fit 100 dbl sleeved cards. I have dragon sleeves with perfect fit sleeved cards. I can’t put about 10 cards in the compartment

You mean he main compartment or the middle accessories one? The main compartment on the XL is very large and will fit any 100 double sleeved cards, even thick inners. The centre accessory tray is naturally a lot smaller.
