The world needs more extensive tcg product reviews like this. Well shot and incredibly detailed. Hope you do more. Was also able to back the Prof's kickstater and I absolutely love this deck box.

This review was actually way more informative than the professor's own review - so thank you. Also kudos to the audio and video quality. Did not expect that from such a small channel. Well done.

A less considered use-case but I really like using the 133 as a draft kit for drafting or prereleases! I can hold 17 lands of each type pre-sleeved along with extra space for my sleeved limited deck, unused cards from my pool, dry erase tokens, dice, and the skinny plexiglass compartment is great for holding a few thin dry-erase markers! I don't attend a limited event without it anymore!

That is a great use case! Thank you for sharing! Funny enough I had a line in the video about storing a pen and paper pad in there, but when I went to film it my notepad didn't fit, so I cut it all lol

This is exactly how Im going to use it as well. I had to bring 3 or more boxes for tokens, lands, dices. I have to store somewhere my deck, store somewhere my unused card pool. This deckbox looks super sweet and I've already bought teal/pink one. Cant wait to get my hands on it!

I really like how you showed the difference between the two in a backpack. That’s always been my main method of transporting my cards, so knowing that the 133 can fit comfortably, but the 266 can’t is very vital

I’m commenting because of your parting comment. This review is one of the slickest and best produced I’ve seen in a while. The cinematography and editing are first class. I watched 4 or 5 reviews of this deck box and this was by far the most thorough, helpful and succinct. Thanks for making it.

great review and i cant wait to pick one up for my angels commander deck been looking everywhere for a good deck box that i would feel comfortable putting a expensive deck into and im loving this box in the reviews im picking one up as soon as i can
@MrJBrown-ez9gy7 ай бұрын
I ordered one during the Prof's original Kickstarter campaign. I have lots of decks and I have more expensive (also custom 3D printed boxes and custom carved wooden boxes) , but this is definitely one of the best deck boxes I have; very sturdy, looks great, protects my cards and when other people in playgroups see it w the Logo it turns some heads. I am extremely happy with it it was worth the 1yr wait I had to get it. Now that they are on the retail market in LGS's I am definitely going to pick up another one at some point. Great product 🙂
@davidlayton43107 ай бұрын
@MrJBrown-ez9gy well thanks for giving me some more feed back man it just cements my desicison to buy one I really want the green and black as they don't come in white. But I look forward to it as my angels are quite on the expensive side. People are right when they say power is expensive.
@SJC_7 ай бұрын
Thank you! You'll be happy with these imo. I've been using mine for about a year now and they still look new and haven't had a single issue with my cards. My eldrazi deck has some pretty pricey cards in it (grim monolith, mana crypt etc) and I'm not worried at all while transporting it.

I think my main problem is the drawers. I have 3 of them and for some of them the drawers are so hard to pull out, i almost feel like im going to break it pulling it out. I wish the QA was better on it. And I agree the XL is kind of in an awkward position as it either doesn't fit everything or there isnt enough to put in it.

Thanks for great review, Can i ask are there any drawbacks for using this deck boxes in long term ? Because once i tried to buy ultra pro satin tower deck boxes and it became very sticky and dirty in 5 - 6 month..
@SJC_2 ай бұрын
Hey! Thank you very much. I've been using these for over a year now and they still look great. No noticeable scratches. For context, those were kickstarter boxes and they were about 6 - 9 months old with a fair amount of usage when this was filmed. I do think the outside color has faded a bit from a deep black to a less saturated black but it's not a concerning amount of fading. However, everything else is holding up as expected. There may be a difference in quality between the kickstarter and mass production boxes, but even so they use the same materials so the aesthetic durability should be the same. Let me know if you have any more questions about it.

How many Yugioh cards fit in the smaller compartment? I was thinking about picking this up for 2 of my favorite decks to fit in with the dices 😃
@SJC_7 ай бұрын
You can easily fit 40 cards in each tray if your cards are double sleeved. You're supposed to be able to fit 50 single sleeves cards but I kept on getting the top card caught when pulling it out. That could be due the sleeves puffing up a bit over time.
@uuu123437 ай бұрын
Unfortunately for the pricing points, thats decided by the company and you know, gamegenic being gamegenic much like every corporation out there, they wanna earn as much as possible, so thats out of the prof's control But that aside, really like this fully fleshed out review which pointed out the points that makes sense this supports yugioh and even shadowverse which means it should support pokemon cards as well which is pretty nice

Bought one yesterday, put my deck in it and really regretted the outlay. I wanted it for a single EDH deck, as it was advertised as ideal for that special deck, with lots of tokens and dice. Frankly a Watchtower is a far better purchase for that. This is a really awkward size and I fear the Prof himself is the reason for so much acclaim, not the box itself. The design is really awkward.

Very nice video.
@VoidPatron6 ай бұрын
Was this box directly from the Patreon? I was looking at recent review videos and one by Kaladesh Express that was posted 3 weeks ago was talking about how weak the magnets are for his own boxes, which I think are due to them being the generic mass produced ones and not the Patreon products.
@SJC_6 ай бұрын
Yup this was a Patreon box!
@iakan69377 ай бұрын
so correct me if I'm wrong, but having said 50 single sleeved was giving you trouble would that mean a 55 cards single sleeved yu-gi-oh deck would be a tight squeeze, if not out of the question?
@SJC_7 ай бұрын
I just tried 55 yugioh cards with dragonshield sleeves and it definitely doesn't fit. At 49 cards it fits decently well but 50 still gets the top card stuck regularly. It also depends on what sleeves you do but 55 will most likely be out of the question.

I think the smaller version is overkill for one commander deck. I don't understand all the extra room when you have space for tokens. Just seems awkward and unwieldy. The larger one is more appealing, but still don't understand the extra room.
@SJC_7 ай бұрын
Yeah it certainly can be. I keep my favorite deck in here with tokens but its definitely extravagant compared to other options. I think he went for as much utility as possible and 133 card configuration allowed for other deck boxes to be stored as well. Not sure how many people will do that though lol
@xternalpunk7 ай бұрын
I made a huge mistake buying this deck from the Kickstarter. It's just a weird size and never works like I want it to. Like the professor says don't buy this product.
@SJC_7 ай бұрын
Yeah 133 cards is an awkward size. You really need something in there to minimize spacing. I am sorry to hear you aren't enjoying it. The flip and tray and Ultra Pro Satin Towers were my go to's for years prior to this.
@septis93182 ай бұрын
Tcc is such a hypocrite. celebrates stinginess and incites people to boycott Wotc and only buy singles. Yet the same guy sells such overpriced deck boxes. If you're really someone who believes in TCC, you'd better not buy this shit and get a cheap cardboard box for your cheap singles. What a walking joke this man is.
@crimson907 ай бұрын
Those prices are highway robbery. Taking a page out of WotC's book, I see.
@SJC_7 ай бұрын
Yeah it is definitely more expensive than I thought it would be. I thought it would go down to around $40, but even at $50 it's a good box. The flip and tray is around 40 and I'd rather have this. Ultimate guard satin tower is still the best budget option though
@unspeakableoaf7 ай бұрын
@@SJC_ Flip 'n' Tray is about $45 to $55 where I live, while The Academic seems like it's going to be $70. But that's nothing compared to what it cost me via the campaign. I don't dare to calculate what I paid in the end. Most US-designed deck boxes sold here are 50% above US prices too, so we just grin and bear it :/
