I have started to pull cards and journal messages from the cards every single morning. At the end of the day, I go back and journal a reflection on the messages. I just started doing this on Monday, and I feel like I have upped my game so much! The cards seemed to be speaking more clearly to me now! I pull cards, journal while I sip on coffee or tea, and I have chill music playing in the background to allow focus. Game-changer!!

Yes, I really enjoyed your video. This is my first deck and I got it about 3 years ago and I’ve never used it. Still haven’t. It’s the same ones you have in the video. I tried to learn the classic Rider-Waite deck but I couldn't connect. 🙁 I bought the deck over the one I was drawn to just to go buy the one I was drawn to a month later. 🤦‍♀️Now I use the Shadowscapes Deck and I haven't looked back. I think you should definitely go with what you are drawn to. To me RWS is better as an advanced deck. I found that I became more interested in it later on. I had one for reference, and it's great for learning, but I think when you are starting, you don't need to learn every little thing in order to learn to read. A lot has been written for RWS so it's great for deeper study, but I don't agree that you need to memorize all the symbolism of every card before you can learn to read the cards. Its like memorizing the dictionary before you are allowed to read a novel. It's not necessary. You don't *need* to know all the intricacies of each card in order to read them. I think we lose the forest for the trees.

I learned the meanings of the cards by watching readings on KZbin. I'd pick ones that would be doing readings on topics that pertained to me and see if the messages resonated with me. Mean while repeatedly seeing the cards helped. Now I know the meanings and most of the time already know what the reader is about to say. Years ago I bought a writer Waite ( sorry if misspelled) deck but didn't know what to do, and gave them away. Know I know why I was guided to them. I will be purchasing another.

I started with a vampire themed tarot deck it looked cool to my brooding teenage self but I remember seeing the mini rider Waite in the book store and felt really drawn to it. so I finally got the large and mini version last year it only took me like 13 years to admit the regular ol rider Waite was giving me the answers I wanted. Hi! I am new to your channel and am fascinated with your experience and knowledge of Tarot! I recently bought the Rider-Waite deck in the regular size and large size. I am bonding with my regular size deck by shuffling daily, caring for them and even putting them under my pillow for 7 nights (as suggested in a Tarot Meaning Book). I am new to Tarot, but always been fascinated on how people can interpret the meaning of the cards. I did however do exactly what you did, which was purchased different types of decks (Goddess, Oracle, and a beautiful deck that I was drawn to because of the imageries and pretty colors...however, I felt I am not ready for those cards just yet, and my intuition told me to stay with the Rider-Waite deck (plus I felt I was cheating on them too...weird huh?...lol) I am happy to have ran across your channel to know that there is no rush in learning and perfecting this craft, and that it may take years to master. One thing I need is patience which Tarot is forcing me to have. Oh and I built a little alter with some crystals, the decks, sage, etc to set the mood when focusing on the meanings of each (78) cards. Rider deck isnt for every first timer, honestly lol i KNEW you were gonna suggest this b4 the video began. My experience, the rider deck was told to me about 15 or so yrs ago that it was the perfect beginner deck but i gravitated towards Olympus tarot deck instead. Honestly it was better for me to learn with and when i use my Olympus tarot, I was never wrong with my readings, even on family members and myself. So not everyone will take to the rider deck and this should be said. Go with what your tingly witcht gut tells you is the deck for you. 17yrs later I still have my Olympus tarot deck and they feel like HOME. So much magick, energy, and intention are embedded in these that I cant imagine reading with any other deck.

Question, even though you gravitated to another deck to use, did you buy a rider-waite deck? Did you first learn from it and then transferred to the other deck for actual readings? I do find that I'm drawn to certain types but ultimately I still have to learn the Rider-waite symbolism, so I use it to learn, but I do my readings with other decks I'm drawn too.

My first deck of cards I cannot remember the name of it but when I did a reading for myself it gave me a most frightening reading. At first I ignored it but every day I kept having the same cards which frightened me even more....I threw my cards away and trust me I still have regrets for doing so. After I threw them away a week later my reading came true and it took awhile to get out of the situation. I told myself I would never buy a deck again...let's just say I was in such a dark place. This was years ago...however the calling for them is almost irresistible but I still have that fear to own one because of what happened to me.😔

Tarot decks have several uses. I use mine for meditation and introspection. And sometimes to help with a difficult decision, especially those that I've struggled with for a long time. They can be used to try to see the future, although I'm personally not a fan of trying to do that. I was also raised christian. I always was drawn to tarot, but was told it's evil or witchcraft or whatever... but I've found it's not against the Bible to use the cards. At all. There are many misconceptions about Jesus's teachings in the mainstream christian scene... like insisting thanking people is super important when Jesus specifically said to only thank God. Calling people father when he said to not call any man on earth father... Sorry, I'm rambling. Back to the topic. Tarot is a tool. And you can choose how much you want to use this tool and specify it's purpose for you. Sometimes I ask questions I'm already pretty confident I know the answer and will get confirmation of my choice or thought process. Keep learning. I'm sure you'll figure out what purpose you'd like the cards to be for.

haha i have to tell you all one thing! I have just used tarot card for one month trying to learn and yesterday 2 cards came out, and I studied them and put the deck away not really getting a message, when i started this video I put back the cards and shuffled the deck for a while AND EXACTLY THE SAME CARD IN THE SAME ORDER CAME OUT coincidence Nah I don't think so... Is there a version of the rider deck that swaps pentacles for coins? I know that the Pentacles already represent coins, but I am not comfortable with the pentacle. I just bought the Rider Waite deck after deciding that maybe i should for this very reason. It’s basic and it’ll be easier to learn from. However, I was quickly losing interest in learning tarot the more I used the deck. I love artwork. I have art on all my walls, I value what I deem as beautiful art so highly. So I realized that I was losing interest because of the artwork. I couldn’t get past it. The art, the deck, needs to make my soul sing. The Rider Waite does not. ;) I ended up having to rehome it.

Hi Jess, my name is Paulette and I believe I have the gift of being an Empath. I have ran from this for quite some time, but here lately I have started to embrace the fact. Which means I am a baby Empath looking for where to start. I have looked at many pages but for whatever reason I continue to be drawn to yours. Do you like reading playing cards. Playing cards were something I became interested in primarily because I thought they would think games instead of cartamacy. I see people using them but the meanings don't stick with me as much I guess from the lack of picture. I've looked up their meanings but there are too many different versions. I just wanted a basic universal meaning and I don't know where to start.

I love your videos. I have this deck but it doesn't speak to me at all. When I look at the meanings for the cards I cant see how they came up with them. :( I'm currently studing the Gilded tarot deck. I was drawn to them and I understand the meanings. My problem is that I can't seem to remember them. I'm going to try the notebook as you suggested. Thanks for the advice.

Jess, how did you connect with your decks? I was told to sleep with them for 7days and then take each one trace around the card and visualize yourself in the card, lastly place each one over you heart. This has helped me connect to them, but I'm just curious what others do.
