I carried the Cullman CT100's with a Manfrotto 502HD around for three years before snagging a deal on a 504HD with 535 CF legs. They were heavy but sturdy, and for some situations the hydraulic center column is nice...but I can't count how many times I've snagged my finger between the legs and the center, and how much the legs swung freely, no matter how you tightened them, making carrying the whole package a pain. This is basically a 2-stage, CF CT100, with the loose legs fixed and a 75mm ball....and I REALLY want it!!

How is torsional rigidity? The SpeedLock 75 CF legs I use at work are basically the equivalent to toothpicks held together with rubber bands...with a shoulder camera on top you can tap the back of the camera and the leg flex is so bad the camera will wobble around for several seconds.
@ProAVTV7 жыл бұрын
Its a very different design. We havent noticed any flex in the legs at all really Carl

There is a major flaw with this tripod being that it only goes up to 157 cm which kind of sucks in a lot of situations such as stand up interviews and etc
@jeffsaffron56472 жыл бұрын
Seems normal to me, almost all tripods are like this. Note that this is only for legs, head gives you another 10cm, if you running VCT plate and ENG camera that's another 10cm to the lens axis.

how will the knobs and so on function in 'bad weather' conditions?? I find that most legs fail in rainy conditions or at the beach... I also found that 'small plastic knobs or sliderlike structures', will clog up... I have a monopod this way, with small 'legs', which is absolutely unusable for this reason since the 'click' system clogs up....

I just bought a pair of brand new ones, along with Sachtler Ace ball heads for video cameras. I love them so much, I am trying to figure out a way to get my Sony A9 camera, which has the RRS Arca Swiss mount bracket to be able to mount to the slide in plates of each tripod, so that I only need to bring one tripod to do both video and still work on shoots. I think I have found a way to mount a RRS clamp to the slide in quick release plate of the Sachtler video head. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I will probably call RRS on Monday. They are great with these kinds of issues usually. I LOVE THESE TRIPOD LEGS. THEY ARE THE BEST!!!

Thanks! Nice review...Have you tried these with a rigged C300 or FS7 (with a long 100-400). Im tossing up between Millar DS20 and two stage carbon screw tight legs or these. Ive used a Millar two stage carbon leg solo forever but the time it takes to screw and unscrew legs is sometimes annoying in a hurry. This looks awesome solution to that! Pricing between them similar so Im might but buy a set of these. Im just wondering about them handling FS7 with a long lens for stability but I assume they would not be any less stable than my Millar solo. Cheers for your channel :)

HEY tripod question! I have a Benro tripod - it's one of there top ones (Al-Mg legs, S8 head). Recently I used my tripod in a nature film and I was kinda disappointed in some regards. It's kind of heavy and one leg got filled with water. After repeated attempts to dry it, I still extend that leg to find it wet. Also it doesn't have spiked feet so it's a bit less stable than it could be. Also, sometimes I find that when panning, the head actually unscrews sometimes even when I screw it on tightly. Are these common problems? I hear that pro tripods last a lifetime but I don't see this one lasting that long. 😕
@PischkePerformance7 жыл бұрын
I have used a Benro S8 with carbon legs for the past 4 years as well as O'Conner, Vinten, Sachtler and Manfrotto tripods. If I where to rate them on quality I would put the Benro on par with Manfrotto, then Sachtler and Vinten above those two and O'Conner at the top. I have experienced the head of the S8 coming unscrewed just one time. Tightening down the pan and giving it a good tug fixed that. You could also use adhesive for a more permanent solution, but just giving it a good tug has worked for me. When you get the S8 wet it can take a pretty long time to dry, again I have never submerged one, just caught out in the rain, but I fully extend the legs and let it sit out for the night and it's been good to go in the morning. Your S8 should have shipped with metal spiked feet you can screw into the legs to replace the rubber ones that come preinstalled. There is no perfect tripod, but I have beat on this guy pretty good and it has held up surprisingly well over the years. In the world of professional video tripods, the S8 is about as lightweight as you are going to find. No it is not an O'Conner or Vinten that will last 20+ years, but for the money it's a great piece of kit. Hope that helps clear some things up.
@UnratedAwesomeness7 жыл бұрын
Wow yes that helped greatly! Thank you so much! I'm glad I got to hear from someone with so much experience. Do you think that using adhesive will come back to bite me later on? Is there a situation that I'd want to unscrew the head from the bowl? Thanks again! Cheers
@PischkePerformance7 жыл бұрын
The main reason's you may regret it is that most sliders and jibs have a flat base that you can screw a flat bottom tripod head into, like the S8, but many companies sell 75mm ball head adapters so there is a work around if you would go the adhesive route.

Great looking tripod, I especially like how easy it is to extend the legs. $800 for a tripod that's probably made in China. They would sell a lot more these tripods, if they were about four hundred dollars.
@ProAVTV7 жыл бұрын
They arent made in china. They make all the carbon fibre themselves in their factory (which I believe is in wales). In the world of video tripods these are a very reasonable price Carl
@bcnewsvideo7 жыл бұрын

Best regards, Kerstin from your Sachtler Facebook Team"

Also what Head do you recommend to use a C100 ii with these legs ???
@ProAVTV7 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend the Sachtler FSB 4 kit: www.proav.co.uk/cameras-accessories/tripods-monopods/tripod-kits-systems/sachtler-0395-fsb-4-ft-ms-system-carbon-fibre-tripod Although its just a 75mm bowl. So if you wanted you could use a cheaper head, like the E-Image GH06: www.proav.co.uk/cameras-accessories/tripods-monopods/tripod-heads/gh06-fluid-video-head Although I think the Sachtler kit does actually work out cheaper right now than buying head and legs separately.
