Thanks for this video. It really helped alot with my plans for blogging in 2024. But how can you say that you think it's the best time ever to be a writer? Do you not believe this space is going to be completely disrupted by AI within the next 2-5 years?

Excellent points. Love the circle not linear approach. Definitely more productive to write on platforms with traffic. Here's a tip: Write your post and then go read 10 other people's posts and make great comments. If you want a friend, be a friend. Builds your followers quickly.

Hi, Nichole Cole. I recently found you through Ali Abdaal's KZbin channel podcast, and I immediately got curious to learn from someone who knows. I started learning about writing for about a month to earn money as a student. I bought your book, 'The Art and Business of Online Writing,' this week and hope to read it in 2 months. I also subscribed to your channel just now, and this was the first video of yours that I watched.

Thanks Cole, your 3 Verticals Framework is a game changer for me. Easily my biggest takeaway. I resonate with this idea of talking about multiple niche topics for authority, broad topics for reach, and then something personal to tie it all together. It’s freedom through constraints.

Just when I don't think I can be blown away any more by your content, ... surprise!! This is pure gold, Cole. Of course, it is ALL valuable but I have to say the 10 magical ways I can expand literally any piece of writing is "mic drop" good!! I say this because not only does this help me to generate ideas for writing and really own my area of expertise, but I am pulling out incredible value for my readers who get to learn content from many perspectives, tips, lessons, examples, ... Thank you Cole! I'm off now to continue setting up my new Typeshare account and get ready to publish to the suggested social media platforms. Flywheel, here I come!!

Thank you Nicolas. This video was exactly what I was searching for. I bought my own name as the domain name and have a blog on my website that no one reads and I was thinking about what social platforms would be best to write on and build an audience. I'm a medical doctor and my niche is written medical content which helps healthcare business get more engamenet and customers.

Great video Cole! I've since shifted my writing to my socials, and Substack for now vs prior blog. Saves a lot on expenses, plus it's easier to go where the audience already is, vs needing to establish a new one.

Like anything the hardest part is getting started. I've felt this when starting a new diet and working out. It feels like I'm about to move a rock uphill & put it off. Then I start & it's not nearly as complicated as I thought. Thanks for showing us how to get started Cole!

Hi Nicolas, I have watched most if not all of the podcasts that you were on. I have also read your book Art and Business of Online Writing. I have three questions : # From your podcasts - you mention the importance of "structure" many times. You were even against editing. However, I still believe you need a certain quality of writing to get your readers engaged. You have taken a writing major at university and I guess that helped you in your journey as an online writer. Many of the people like me reading your book now are taking nothing related to writing. Could you please suggest me how to become a better writer (book recommendations would be great)? 2# I have read your articles on the Ship 30 for 30 websites on how to use quora. My question is "Should I start my quora spaces as soon as I start writing on quora. or Should I find my niche first? 3# It was a little ambiguous to me if what you use to do on quora was answering questions or writing about topics you come with from your infinite ideas generators technique. If It was through answering questions - does the formatting really matter.

Great video Cole! My take-away from watching this is to leverage the built-in audiences of Twitter, Linked-In, Medium and Quora. I already write on Medium (under my pen name Nightgardener. Second take-away really resonated with me; the fact that I don't have to decide on a niche right away. I just need to write! Lol, I actually wrote a Medium piece about this, because I was obsessing about finding my very own niche. But I realize now that that's OK, I just need to keep writing and I will calibrate my niche as I go along! Thanks again Cole. I will see you on Ship 30 for 30 soon.

Fantastic insight, Nicolas! Just a side question - how did you then monetize your writing on those platforms? As I am new to the digital writing space, this is not meant as snide question, rather in earnest from a newby. Most of the people in YT seem to propagate, as you noted, to write blogs and include some affiliate marketing. They then earn from ad revenue. What with all the new Google HCUs, affiliate marketing revenue seems unviable for the lay person. Would appreciate your thoughts please. By the way, I lived near Chicago over a year from 1984 - 1985... long ago.

Every niche has it's own platform. Those four you mentioned perform better in specific niches and in other don't. And I'm not getting it, writing on those platforms. How can you write a good content in a few sentences? Posts are posts, whichever social platform we talk about and not a content. Not sure I get the point.

I would argue that property that you have the most control over is where you need to be publishing and you need to push readers to your blog from the social media accounts. Why do I say that? Unless you self-censor and keep yourself from touching third rail subject such as politics or religion then maybe you were advised is well taken but I would posit that possibly you have already written about subjects that are going to become third rail in the future and may find yourself as many of the people in the past three or four years were found to be victims of the me too movement or any other quick fad that seeks to cancel you and all the work you've done over time. At least if you have your own blog your own website they can't take that away without a lot of concerted effort. I would say that this culture needs to stop where somebody gets offended and they're able to cancel all of the work you've done across a lifetime that just 5 years ago wasn't considered controversial but it's thought to be controversial today.
