I bought one of these used in a pawn shop for 15 dollars. It has a lot of uses and flavor. Can't understand why it's not more popular. But got one dirt cheap in excellent condition, lucky find for me !

Literally been saying for over a decade that this pedal blows the DS1 and DS2 out the water. Never understood why it isnt liked
@Ryan-rn3cf7 ай бұрын
I agree. The reason it isn’t liked is because of the tone knob. The high frequency has been described as “annoying” which it is but an EQ pedal after it fixes that.

Cus they cant use. People believe it will sounds good in front of a shitty solid state practice combo.

A little off topic, but I wish more people would play like this when reviewing gear. Much more useful then that infinite solo shredding stuff that most people do in their vids.

I have one, and it's a great pedal. It's not usually the first pedal I usually go to, except for pure metal rhythm, but it never lets me down. It's especially great for chugging, but it'll do anything distortion. I think it got a bad rep because people were maxing out the bottom control without knowing what they were doing, and the boost knob is kind of inscrutable. Underrated and inexpensive.

I used this as a faux Big Muff until I finally got a Big Muff. I still won't give mine up even if I don't really use it because my friend had one and he died when he was 18 and it reminds me of him

@aldridgecoates996813 күн бұрын
I just got the behringer clone of this pedal and its a really fun pedal. It beckons the tones of the late 90s/early 00s. I treat the gain boost like a tubescreamer and run it high with the gain knob itself pretty low. Its cool to be able to get those boosted amp style tones with a single pedal.
@dahmc59 Жыл бұрын
I agree with most the other comments on your performance and quality of pedal reveal summary, you earned my subscript after 30 seconds. I also will be getting one for myself because of this video AND comments, ty rock/metal bros/siss! I love the fact you switch axes to cover the voicing variations inherent to them and did a phenominal job of making those transitions seemless. I hate pots!! Damn if they dont get dirty and gritty in a short amount of time, and only stay clean a short time after "fixed or replaced". Yes, i heard yours doing the same.

This was actually my second pedal I ever owned. I had a DS-1 and I got this one next. I was a kid and I know infinite more about guitar tone now, but I remember not really digging it. My next pedal after that was the Metalcore pedal. I remember liking that alot more. Nice blast from the past for me.

I've never owned a Mega Distortions but I've owned Turbo Distortions, Distortion DS-1s, Super Overdrive SD-1s, Turbo Overdrives, and many other boss pedals. I never rely on a pedal for most of my overdrive. I get the amp cranking just right and use the pedal to push it off the edge and shape the gain. This has worked for me for decades, going back to the 80s. I think the reason some pedals don't get the love they deserved is because they are not used right, like the Metal Zone which only now is getting respect. A friend, a great blues rock player, has been using a Metal Zone for thirty years as a lead boost, and it sounds amazing.

It's a great pedal. Still affordable. The low end, and the potential huge volume boost are a distinctive feature; the gain is potentially huge, obviously -- but I use it for classic rock and punk in a covers band and its name kind of suggests it's for metal only. It's really not! But yes, it has the potential to increase in price a lot because it certainly feels like no one else is using it yet it's a very functional, versatile pedal; not a gimmick.
