I love this method. It’s got me thinking. I need this. When I make coffee stained paper and it’s wavey I use a hot pizza stone on top of stacked papers on top of a cutting board over night. Really works great.

@@JunkJournalideas Unfortunately, that Irwin bar clamp / F clamp is not available in America! 😭 They emailed me the model number of the American equivalent, but the "jaws" aren't as deep! I'm still hunting for a good alternative.

I am putting a finish on my own DAS F-clamp press. I have a pile of oak boards I took from the scrap bin, and used those. I drilled holes through each corner, and put a dowel through, sticking through the bottom for feet. They stick up through the top as well. The top piece has holes to match, so slides up and down the dowels without tilting.

sounds good, bc i used breadboard it already had a fab finish on it, but I used a finish on the the removable boards for the top and regret it because it sticks to some papers when i press them, not all but some. i have to use a non stick mat between paper and timber on most things i press now.

I made the 2 ikea cutting boards with wing nuts which was ok, but partner made the Das one and its great!! But the other one hasn't gone to waste, I use it, on its side, to glue signatures. Winners are grinners 😉

What a great idea made from simple supplies. It helps to have a talented hubbie! Do you think this would work for flower pressing?. Thanks as always Donna ❤️
@JunkJournalideas3 жыл бұрын
hi Stefanie, he is talented, this isn't a difficult project for those who have a drill and a saw, YES it will press flowers, i'm up for using it to press flowers the only thing, I would put the flowers in a book so the book could get removed when you want to use the press at any time, then put the book back in when you're finished and complete the flower pressing process which can take up to 4 weeks this way (❁´◡`❁) 🦋 hugs Donna

@JunkJournalideas2 жыл бұрын
hey Maritime Post, that's all you need is a make shift press they work out just fine. About putting a journal together you can go through my channel video's I do have some video's that will help you for sure, if you want to use a recyled book cover go to the edith holden cut it up video's and start at video 1. if you want to make your own cover from scratch, go to how to make a journal cover from scratch then follow along with the edith holden video's kzbin.infovideos and take your time it will all work out cheers 🦋 Donna kzbin.infogaming/emoji/7ff574f2/emoji_u1f98b.png

This inspired me to go get the things I needed to make the nipping press I had seen in the DAS video! Might I ask how far in your husband drilled in to fit the clamp? My board is more the size of yours than the original video as well.

hey Belinda, yeh for sure...the main base board he used was 15 3/4" square, he cut in 2 3/8" in and set the clamp in prnt.sc/iMXARTGSGP-u ♥︎♡☆🦋 hugs Donna
