It really works!!! I had a car wash use a product on my fan speed and temperature control knobs on my 2013 Range Rover sport and made them sticky. Borax was unbelievable how well it worked. Thanks for the great tip.

Borax to the rescue! Who would have thought an old, old, and even older-school cleaner would work that well. Great tip! Nice results too! That car has your name all over it Josh! You've gotta make it yours... FYI: sticky plastic not just a Ferrari issue, that process was used on most electronics from that era. I had a very nice component stereo set-up go so bad. And not knowing better back then, I just tossed it out.

There's bolts on the bottom, can't remember if it's 3 or 5. Then it pops apart in the middle.

Nice find on the Borax! Great DIY video! Thanks for posting! Why repaint it at all though? How do you know that the VHT paint wouldn't become sticky just like the original Ferrari paint? It looked fine after you cleaned it. Probably good to wear some gloves with the Borax?

The Ferrari paint has something in it that breaks down, the regular paint that I used won’t as it is just regular automotive paint. And yes, in hindsight I definitely should have worn gloves.

The buttons with lettering were only sprayed with clear and look great, the other parts were sprayed black first then sprayed with clear? Can you not just spray everything with clear and skip the black trim paint? Do the two methods end up looking different? Why the extra step?

I just started with the overhead console buttons. I used the VHT Satin Clear and sprayed 4 very light coats. The buttons are still slightly shiny compared to the other buttons in the car. Will adding more coats achieve the correct appearance? Or a matte clear may be better? By the way where in TX are you?

Although, not as bad going to tackle the sticky buttons on my 458. Don't have the balls to take pieces off without a step-by-step tutorial on how to remove them so going to tackle it with rubbing alcohol and a gentle touch. (Wish me luck) Never seen this approach though, super cool.
