Before You Buy a 10 Year Old Ferrari...

Ferrari and Mercedes use the Getrag 7 speed DCT and the transmission has several seals and bearings intentionally withheld from the public market so you cannot repair the unit. Ferrari will sell you a rebuilt unit for $25,000 plus labor and a new unit for $40,000!!! This is so irresponsible for the planet as the pollution created to ship these heavy units all around the world is a waste when they could be rebuilt wherever the fail!!!
Louis Rossman would say Right to Repair and Ferrari doesn't want you to know but you should before ppi buying pre purchase inspection, with this poison pill hidden in transmission services.

No, yours does not have a dct. If it's the f1 paddles, then the clutch, pump accumulator and solenoid is all you have maintain and it's much cheaper. If it's a manual, then you win most valuable and cheapest to own.

does all early calif and 458 will 100% get gearbox problems ? out of 100 units. how many will have this gearbox problem ? i've seen some 2009 calif with 40k miles and zero gearbox problems. and few 2015 458 with 2k miles with gearbox problems.

All the gearboxes will fail in these ways. You can't just never change the fluid and expect everything to work. Ferrari does not change the fluid and shell fluid is trash. Mercedes has the same gearbox and I almost never see problems with those boxes and they use a different fluid.

Ferrari holding true to their fascists roots as that's not Capitalism (free market) that's Corporatism bro, the economy of fascists. Big Corporations sway legislation and regulatory processes in their interest literally stone walling the free market, aka Capitalism. Most countries including the USA think they have Capitalism when they have a bastardization of such, a psuedo-capitalism, the model is a mixed economy saturated with Corporatism. When people refer to the "deep-state" that's really what they are referring to. Otherwise in a free market any bearing manufacturer should be able to produce whatever specification they want within the scope of their machining capabilities as long as such isn't a patent violation and/or they paid to use it.

Well fuck me, I just bought a mint highly optioned 458 Italia that arrived yesterday. What should I do to prolong my transmission? I was planning on getting the annual maintenance done at the dealer what oil should I ask the dealer to put in the transmission?

Motul products. 300v 75w90 LS for gear and high torque dct for the clutch

But you need oil analysis of the old fluids to determine intermixing or bearing wear. Bearings will need to be replaced at this age. Also, before they drain the fluids, make sure each fluid is at the correct level. If clutch is low and gear is high, got to remove it and remedy the cross of fluid

If you're doing multiple fluids at once, purchase one pre paid shipping (I use the UPS option) and you can use that label to ship multiple samples in a box.
