Two points of clarification: 1. I am not British and am in fact an American, it has been brought to my attention that the joke was a little too subtle. 2. The Doctor Who TV show itself ended in 1989. But in 1996, they attempted to revive the IP with a Hollywood film, but it didn’t succeed so it stayed “dead” until 2005. I said the show ended in 1996, as I was referring to the last bit of ‘Classic Who’ content with the McGann film. I felt it wasn’t necessary to explain that in the video, but again it was brought to my attention that it may have been misleading so here we are. But thank you all for over 200k views, this is incredible and I’m so glad everyone is enjoying it! Edit: 200k now not 100k what the heck

If you liked this, I think you'd also enjoy a mod based around Doctor Who. For Fallout New Vegas is Fallout Who Vegas, a fun mod with a story about your character inheriting the Doctor's TARDIS through a bootstrap paradox after they died for good on Trenzalore, following an alternate timeline to the show. The TARDIS is partly a player home and partly a replacement for fast travel. It has new skills, one of which is a TARDIS piloting skill to unlock new features of the TARDIS, lots of new locations, you can pick basically any of the Doctor's TARDIS interiors with an exterior to match, you can use the crafting system with high science and medicine skills to become a Time Lord, and you can get different looks for the sonic screwdriver and each Doctor's outfit by finding hypercubes of their memories scattered around the mod areas. It's a very good mod, highly recommend, especially with Xoanon's patches and additions for it.

The problem with Doctor Who games is always the Doctor himself. If you play as the companion, you're not the star of the story, which feels bad. If you play as the Doctor, you're playing a character who's main ability is being smarter and more knowledgeable than everyone around them, which is a lot harder to make a game out of than some guy who shoots lasers out of his hands or can teleport.

We were just big fans of the show! :) Fun fact, the artists went wild and built EVERY console room variation...more than we had Doctors for. For the most part I could link the console room to the incarnation of the Doctor you are currently using, but that left one spare. So if you play as Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor, if the day of the month is a multiple of 4, you get the wooden Secondary Console Room instead. Also...if you wanna milk the game for everything it has, there is a purple stud hidden in the back right corridor out of Capaldi's console room - it's a dead end but you can jump to collect it. That purple stud respawns every time you re-enter the TARDIS ;) Have fun...

P.S.... ALL of the Doctor Who content in Lego Dimensions is pretty great. Likely, there wasn't enough time for you to do a playthrough as in depth as possible with that game. Lots of levels have a TARDIS port and most of them relate in some way to the level they appear in. In the Simpsons level of the main game, you can find a port that takes you back in time to another cartoon, The Flintstones. In fact, it's been so long since I played the game... The only other notable example I can think of, is the port found in one of the "Fantastic Beasts..." levels which leads to the 2010s version of the Britcom "Red Dwarf." Lego Dimensions' gameplay was probably over-simplistic, but the digital artistry on display was excellent. Also, Dimensions is the only "Toys to Life" title where playing with the toys was integrated into the game. You move pieces around the game pad to solve puzzles and escape traps and whenever you upgrade vehicles to a different form, a book of building instructions appears and you can actively build the new one. It's really sad the TTL fad burned out so furiously. This game was truly special.
@jeffboy423110 күн бұрын
Man, I probably would've loved playing that game tbh, I love most of the IP's in it but when it came out it was way too expensive for a child. And now it's even more expensive/annoying to get. Maybe there's some emulator way to play it but I doubt it would exist or not be hella clunky
@iamc248 күн бұрын
@@jeffboy4231 cemu (wii u emulator) and rpcs3 (ps3 emulator) both have built in toypad emulators that generate and save character files that "scan" like they would on a real toypad. it's a little clunky, especially once you have all the character, vehicle, and gadget files generated, but it's the cheapest way to play the game.
@jonmelmore8096 Жыл бұрын
The other great thing about the Tardis is the game was it worked in other levels and added Easter Eggs to The Simpsons level as you could find a Tardis pad and go backwards in time and it would be a Flintstones homage. Go forward in time and you would be in a Jettsons area. There is also a Red Dwarf area you can visit using the Tardis but can’t remember where that one is. They should release it without the figures and just have access to every character and slightly rework the pad mechanics and it would probably sell quite well but they probably have lost access to some of the licenses.

I loved this back in the day. It was so novel having not only an actual Lego set (the Full build Tardis & interior with some figures) but also a Lego game that had Doctor Who included. Flying the Tardis is smooth and it spins, and The Doctor regenerates to the next incarnation when he breaks apart. I wish they would make a full game.

@@sink2974 Keeping spoilers to a minimum, it's an exploration-focused puzzle game where you use a spaceship to travel between different planets within a star system, each of which has its own gimmicks and hazards. Slight spoilers below the "Read more". ... You're also stuck in a time loop. Approximately 20 minutes after taking off, you get reset back to the beginning, retaining only the knowledge you gained in previous loops. Your goal is to solve the mystery of why the loop is occurring, and hopefully find a way to end it. That's pretty much as far as I can get without spoiling things. Capaldi's run was amazing! I also dropped off at the death of the 11th doctor because I started with season 5 and for some dumb reason stopped watching after that Christmas special, but biy was that a mistake, 12 and Clara have the best Doctor and Companion dynamic (second only to Donna because "Duhh"), Capaldi's performance is top teir, and there are a bunch of really really well written episodes even if there are also a bunch of misses. All his Christmas specials are fantastic!

I honestly think the best way to do a doctor who game would be a shorter vr game with the weeping angels. And if it used the eye tracking of the Psvr 2 or some other vrs you could utilise some great horror features. Especially since that way it would be entertaining even if you played as a companion (as that would be the only way a dw game would work well)

Obsidian should make a Doctor Who game in the style of Outer Worlds. Free Roam, nonlinear RPG and every time you die you regenerate instead of having to reload. You could start as Hartnell but depending on how much you die you could regenerate past the current doctor and create your own

I had a lot of fun with Edge of Time, The Weeping Angels were absolutely terrifying! And you get to ride around inside an empty Dalek with an on-rail shooter, which was pretty cool. My only gripe was it was too short.
@gianniaerts7352 Жыл бұрын
I actually completely agree. I was (and still am) a huge fan of lego dimensions and own (almost) all the content. The doctor who levels are really good and in fact the doctor is integral to beating the final boss which is so “who”-ish it still makes me giggle to this day! Also, travelling to the other worlds is a lot like jumping in the tardis and taking a trip through time and space. Just need to use the good ol’ imagination a little. Now the second game I love that has the doctor hidden inside is is ….. minecraft x😅. Hear me out though. In version 1.7.10 (quite old now) there exists a very good tardis mod. It can travel across time, space, dimensions, land on a dime or very far from your target depending on how good you are. It has the sonic, transmat, internal power and fluid systems compatible with other mods from the 1.7.10 era, a chameleon circuit, HADS, and just like in “journey to the center of the tardis” you can expand its interior infinitely. Of course the worlds it can bring you to might be quite barren depending on your modpack. But you know, with enough free time you could build your own universe on a server and travel around it like the doctor. Or must live in the tardis and travel endlessly while expanding its inside (start with the library that has a pool in it ^^). Anyway, thought you might want to know that 😊

@@sacrificiallamb4568 actually it’s not the Dalek mod. I never ventured beyond 1.7.10. I did see youtube videos and showcases of the current state of the Dalek mod. It’s very impressive, much more so than the Tardis mod. But for me that mod adds too much. Also, the mod I speak of is UI-less. A weird quirk of the guy who coded it long ago, he wanted it that way. And it is soooooo satisfying to press buttons 😆

@@sacrificiallamb4568 eh, I understand. The guy who made it really tried to make a decent manual, but it was unfinished. A detective doctor who game where you can visit multiple locations with their own problems but all connect to one greater thing in the end would be nice. You help a bunch of people in any order you want and once they are helped you discover some real big bad and solve a mystery then you have to fix whatever caused it.

I've been thinking of how Doctor Who as a franchise could be incorporated into a game. I'm thinking it would play out like a cross between Fallout and No Man's Sky (Not with infinite rng planets of course) each planet would have it's own past, present, and future. You can pick up certain quests along your mainline quests, which involve solving puzzles through time travel. Like one quest there could be an old woman laments to you, that she lost her childhood pendant given to her by her mom before she died, then you can go back in time to when she lost it. Then you can either give it to her in the past or the present, and the reward is different. Maybe if you give it to her in the past, he life is different and while she doesn't remember even talking to you about it, she mentions that your the person who returned it to her all those years ago. The main thing is, I'd want to incorporate regeneration into the game, which makes me skeptical if it should be The Doctor. Either it could be a Doctor from another universe, or just some other Time Lord. You can customize your Time Lord, but that Time Lord will be lost if you die, and you regenerate, and your new Doctor's look, gender, race, and personality is randomized. Of course if you want to bring YOUR Doctor to the end, you could play the game super safely or save scum, but regeneration leads to your Time Lord having different skills and weaknesses, kind of like the game Rogue Legacy. Also like Fallout, and Elder Scrolls, you can pick up certain companions along the way, who can help you out and change the story depending on their history and background, so someone in the medical field could help out when your trying to save someone who is sick or injured, and someone who has an engineering background can help with broken technology. I don't know what that would take developer wise, I just know it'd probably be a pain in the ass to make, but I feel like if people wanted a Doctor Who video game, that's the best way it could be done.

Fun fact, there are a bunch of hidden short Doctor Who levels in other Level packs. If you use the Tardis in some of them they take you to the setting of some Doctor Who stories, For example the Goonies Level can take you to the Power of The Daleks

I have been playing Lego Dimensions a lot recently, and one of the main reasons is just because it has Doctor Who, my all time favorite show. Sure, it would be nice if we had a full Lego Doctor Who game, but I'm just still amazed that we got what we got! With two amazing and long levels with tons of references, places, and characters from the show, and a huge open world with even more locations and stuff all ranging from classic to new who. While I would love to have more, I am just still amazed and happy with what we got. Like, just the fact that I live in a world where this even exists, that Lego made this, it still blows my mind to this day! Plus, the fact that they actually added every Doctor, Tardis, and theme is absolutely incredible!
