With the new Fast Friends Update, Dreckos were "balanced" and no longer magically generate calories when they eat mealwood/bristles. The Good news is, this build still works :) Updated Design! (2024) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJ3RooBqobF-jaM

This is a fantastic farm, the idea of not grooming the sheer room Dreckos is fantastic. I’m at cycle 250ish with 7t of plastic and as many reed fibers as I need, plus a steady supply of meat. This took awhile to get rolling because of the long hatch time of dreckos, but it definitely was worth it.
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
it does take a while to get rolling but you dont have to think about getting oil for plastic anymore! i guess its kind of a give and take, but glad you like the design!

@@2LegitCity thanks for this design i used part of it seeing as there is no need for waiting for the dreckos now i still used the water idea to keep them contained to 2 platforms bottom platform is food top platform is sheering station and groom with a drop off, above i have a two incubators and i can use the extra eggs for food since dreckos take so long and live for so long and take so long to reproduce its not worth using them as a meat source because its not enough and not reliable for the amount of upkeep the creatures require. overall great build and a nice basis for other to build off of or just straight up copy. keep in mind that your pets dont really have to wait for you now they now line up at the station. but dreckos are still extremely slow so confineing them as much as possible is ideal and the water trick will surely come in handy for other ranchs.
@MSoave2 жыл бұрын
This is very similar to the design I've been using, but I like the water barriers on the sides. One slight improvement you could make to the efficiency is that you should put the grooming station on the side close to the entrance. The dupes use the grooming station a lot more than the drop-off or sheering station, so it will slightly reduce dupe travel time.

Great design that I will deploy to my world. And I have found something that may be useful, instead use water like this clip and make room not square, we can use 2 layers of liquid like in liquid lock that can prevent Drecko to go to lower layer (drown) and keep them in island with square room layout. 😁😁

just built it, but with balm lily instead of mealwood, need more reed fiber! love this design
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
yup! balm lily has 0 maintenance so its great for the dreckos. sometimes i stack two of the same design with sheering in the middle, one with regulars and one with glossys and rely on them as a food source

i usually use 9w12h room with mealwood at bottom, and machines on middle floor, 2 ranches side by side, dispenser at bottom middle next to other farm dispensing everything out in the very middle of both farms. set a single kill zone at bottom for both farm, and incubator next to the kill zone, 3 auto sweeper will get all the job done and u can use it without atmo suit ealry game. drop ice on mealwood early game for cooling

This design is really neat! At the bottom of the ranch, next to the mealwood farm tiles, there are 2 full tiles of water (plus one partial tile above) forming each moat. Is that necessary to restrict drecko pathing?
@2LegitCity Жыл бұрын
you got it- theres some leeway to in that it doesnt have to be exactly like that but thats the idea
@somedude59512 жыл бұрын
Nice design. I usually just farm the mealwood, because I like to build a juicer. Not sure why folks don't farm Drecko food, because Drecko's eat the young plants, and these only grow some what slower from the feeding.
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
thanks! i believe its because glossys eat 100% growth, but regular dreckos do consume at 67%. i'm usually missing something to use the juicer, most of the time its the mushrooms.
@somedude59512 жыл бұрын
@@2LegitCity Yes, mushrooms is the hardest. There usually only is a limited amount of slime. And need a puff farm or space missions, to get new slime.

I like just having the plants and grooming station in the water room, no shearing, the loss is minimal and the efficiency of the dupe to not have to wait for critters allows more critters imo
@2LegitCity2 жыл бұрын
well if you dont need to shear, you wouldnt need the 2-level setup and just have a flat with the grooming in the middle, farm tiles on both sides for grazing and then the water tiles. this would save the vertical travel of the dreckos to make it shorter if youre not looking to shear them
@AlwinnSmash Жыл бұрын
@@2LegitCity He was refering to not shearing the breeding Dreckos. You still have the shearing set-up with the excess, just don't bother with Hydrogen and shearing the breeding dreckos. You gain the majority of the shear from the extra ones. It basically cuts down on travel time waiting for Drecko, since you wouldn't need to bother with Hydroen (since Mealwood can't grow in Hydrogen) you have one floor for the breeding. 2nd floor is purely hydrogen and shearing. So, the ideal set-up would be something more along the lines of just one floor using water to block the dreckos from leaving the small area near the grooming station and having mealwood right there for them. It cuts down on waiting for drecko to get groomed and less automation to pick up all the eggs by limiting their walking space. Then you just ship them all to another room filled with hydrogen for shearing. Which you only need 1 room with them, you can put in an unpowered incubator, which if the main room is less than full a dupe will pull the drecko from the incubator and run them into the room automatically (so you don't need to set up multiple critter poles).

I don't understand why you use 2 separate shearing rooms? Instead of a 20 limit on 2, why not just have a 40 limit on 1? You can still build 2 stations if you need them. There's a lot of room to opimize the shape of the design as well. Fewer open doors, less bits sticking out etc.

i should release an updated video of my current version
@Sotanaht016 ай бұрын
@@2LegitCity Please do. Dreckos are probably the most important and complicated critter to ranch, especially as the only reliable source of phosphate even if you have reed fiber and plastic sorted.

@@2LegitCity It's a bit smaller on the lower part (mealwood) because i plan to have less dreckos, and there's a lot of decor haha. 3 incubators on the evolution room and only one shearing room. My shearing room have water on the sides so they can't walk more than 2/3 tiles and can't climb on ceiling. I'll add a couple of the new Pip on the incubation room too.
