I think there was a time where high-end out performed drug store makeup but those days are long gone. I have foundations that are $65 in my makeup kit but I keep finding myself going back and forth in between my $8 ELF foundation and my $10 Catrice foundation. The Elf one is newer but I love it. It used to be that I would use it everyday and save my Armani Luminious Silk foundation for special occasions but two weeks ago I went to a formal birthday party and decided to use the Elf over the Armani and my makeup looked great and held up all night and photographed very well. I think this is the last bottle of Armani Luminous Silk I’m ever purchasing. It doesn’t make much sense to me now.

Risa has been such a help to me as I was using less and less makeup. I have gone and looked at her older tutorials. I was not using any powder…and that was a big game changer….and I am getting compliments that I look 15-20 years younger than my 73 years. Also eyelashes has been a big help. When my hair turned white so did my lashes. Now they are a part of my everyday makeup routine. I realized I was just lazy….now I feel a lot more confident! I applaud you for ranging out across the cosmetic spectrum. At one time we could use our ‘holy grail’s’ regularly,but with prices increasing,it’s lovely to have alternatives,to use for work or running errands. I would love you to do a side by side of your holy grail high end and drugstore make up. It just proves the point that you can look and feel beautiful if need be on a budget. As a side note. Hi Risa! Just wanted to give my compliments on this updated drugstore makeup must-have video! As always, you look radiant and lovely. I did have a sort of (unsolicited, lol) nomination in the much-underappreciated category of tools, that being the new Eco-Tools Blurring Blender duo makeup sponges ($9.99 for set of 2) that I just found at Ulta. The main selling point of these is that they basically '"eat less makeup", have (in my humble opinion, at least) an ideal texture, shape and combination of bounciness while maintaining sturdiness, and because of whatever technology it's lesser absorption of makeup to the surface of the sponge is attributed to, they are a breeze to clean, not even requiring a heavy duty household brush/sponge cleanser like my go-to Dawn green apple antibacterial dish soap. Since these naturally don't get quite as all gunked up with foundation and concealer as say, a typical Real Techniques orange sponge or the ELF variety that I quite like, these just required a pump of Dove liquid moisturizing hand soap and a brief scrub and rinse and then the great part becomes evident: faster wash time, easier, more complete rinsing and virtually NO spot cleaning needed=a longer lasting makeup sponge that "stays new [looking] " longer with less tendency to tear or split. And just the lightest dampening gives you the ability to kinda just dunk the tip or flattened surface into your foundation (what I use a beauty blender most for, but should apply across the board here for all liquid/cream products) and bounce your way to smooth, impossibly flawless sheered out coverage, which of course, is also buildable. Highly recommend these, especially for those like me whose face consumes enough excess product as it is (and I'm, like you, a "true" oily, mature skin type. Last note: I informally suggest, while we're on the topic of drugstore and underrated, that Revlon's Colorstay Grip primer is a possible more affordable dupe-like alternative to the Smashbox Photo Finish primer line, and actually though I love Smashbox, I think the Revlon blurs pores and mattifies even a little better! xoxo Jen

Risa get some peels for your chest . You can also use peter Thomas roths pumpkin peel or juice beauty full strength peel . I'm consistent and use them twice a week and it's helped a lot. Or there's Lazer or a series of glycolic peels at a salon for your chest

Great Video I am 60 and I have to say that Malani products are one of my favorites ! I try so many new Blushes but always go back to there Baked Blushes (not going to purchase anything else working do not try to fix it) those Blushes are Amazing … Malani plump Lip Glosses have become my favorites another product I am going to stop following influencers on … I really feel that they are just as good as the city Beauty glosses at such a high price I was disappointed with those glosses (Milani plump glosses just as good and colors are Beautiful) I splurge on my EL DW foundation

I loved how the Milani foundation looked when I applied it but it just doesn’t last long at all on me. I tried it over and over again because I loved how it initially looked. I do not have oily skin either. L’Oréal infallible fresh wear lasts longer for me and doesn’t look cakey either.

I've heard complaints about the elf lip pencils lack of longevity but i haven't noticed it. I pretty much use lip pencils on my entire lips for color and a balm or oil on top. Everything wears off that way lol
