Now I work in aviation and almost every day I'm standing behind jet engines, so I always wear double hearing protection, Ear muffs and ear plugs. Most people just wear earmuffs and it drives me nuts. I'm glad too see videos like yours expressing the importance of proper hearing safety.

I don't know what to say as this is clearly an OSHA violation so I did all I could so far and filed a complaint. Their reasoning is that wearing hearing protection makes me unable to possibly hear one of my co-workers being attacked by dogs or some similar emergency, which is down right ridiculous. I have a mental disorder called misophonia. It causes me to have EXTREME emotional reactions to certian sounds that I find annoying. All sounds made by people. Being in public sucks, but obviously I don't want to be a hermit. I've been on the hunt for good plugs that make it so I don't have to be anxious about being triggered in public. I've been blasting music in my ears for years in an attempt to overcome this, which has predictably led to tinnitus and slight hearing loss. I kept finding expensive plugs and I don't want to gamble $200 on plugs that might not work for me so I'd rather do ones like what you had recommended. I will check these out :) Also your snake is cool

I work in manufacturing, I wore ear plugs for months until I couldn't handle it anymore. Doctor had to flush the wax out my ears like Dank described, and now anything being in my ears hurts the ear canal walls so bad; I couldn't even wear IEMs if I wanted to. Super late but I've bought myself a pair of Happy Ears plugs and am willing to answer any questions people have about them. So far they're pretty great, have a break-in period where they become more comfortable but also more easily slip out and don't block out all noise but enough to remove any distractions. Also the large size just barely fits my ears and I've never thought I had especially large ear canals, so they definitely will not fit everyone.

@ecapsdira Жыл бұрын
@@swamppotato_ depends on how loud the construction is. if it's around whisper level then the happy ears will cancel them out, but above that it will probably muffle it which will help, but not completely erase it. one thing to note is that he'll hear his heartbeat, breathing and other body noises if he wears the earplugs for long periods, which can be annoying too depending on the person. you will be able to talk since he can take out one of the plugs which is very easy with the happy ears. I sleep super well with them myself but they do fall out sometimes at night. it's annoying since they're hard to find after because they're so small. otherwise it's a great sleep aid, but they do need to be worn some beforehand to soften enough for sleep wear.

Find yourself a new doctor ASAP. They should not be ignoring symptoms like that! A good doctor admits when they don't know what is wrong, and then suggests / refers you to other doctors that can better help you. They shouldn't just be giving up. Source: had bad doctors dismiss symptoms because they didn't know what it was. Found an internalist DR who did his job very well and immediately knew some of what was wrong. For things he was unsure of, he made that clear to me and sent referrals to the appropriate specialists so they could diagnose those issues.

So, with the Christmas trees.... I've always thought they are different sized earphone rubber bits This means that I would be getting some scissors and cutting each one (usually ditching the tiny bit) and swapping between each when I'd eventually lose it. I never knew what they were actually for until now because I never bothered to check the manual (I got them with some pairs of crappy earphones at my local gas station). The thing is though, the little hollow rubber in the middle of it all fitted perfectly around the earphone!!

@@_monti142 for a big part I have no Idea. Always had weak/weird eardrums (my right apparently used to look similar to a deflated balloon). For years my left eardrum had a hole in it which they tried to plug up. 7 years ago they made a new eardrum for my left ear. (Its called tempanoplastiek in dutch or smth) Then 2 years ago a joke went wrong and I got hit on my right ear, in such a way the air pressure ripped the eardrum in 2. Last year I had a rly long surgery to get that replaced too. Luckily it should all be fine now, it sounds way worse than it is haha!

5:10 - no lie I once got a small rupture on my left eardrum by pulling one of those out when I was working at a hillclimb racetrack (race cars are MEGA loud, for those who've never experienced it), as I walked from the bottom of the track to the top it kinda created a small vaccum seal in my ear and the pressure differential when I finally ripped them out of my skull was enough to permanently damage my eardrum. Most painful thing I think I've ever experienced... I genuinely couldn't walk straight for a day because it messed my balance up so much, I have permanent tinnitus in my left ear and it's like super sensitive to loud noises because of the scar tissue. So yeah... Be careful when shoving things in your ear canals AND when taking them back out, kids.

I don’t know if you play any other instruments than drums, but all musicians I know, me included, strongly recommend custom earplugs over Christmas tree ones to be able to accurately hear tone quality when playing you instruments. The ones I’ve got has exchangeable filters as well so you can choose how many db to lower the sound around you. Expensive yes, but lasts for years and soooo worth it. That being said, the only plugs I used before getting custom ones where happy ears, and so did all my friends. Maybe they are more well known in sweden, being swedish.
