The BEST Easy Beginner Leather Project!
This leather wallet project is a great beginner leather project, but it's also just a simple, functional leather wallet for anyone to make! This wallet is designed to be made from one piece of leather and have one single stitched seam. It holds a ton of stuff - upwards of 20 credit cards, paper cash folded in half, receipts, etc. The pattern is simple enough for a beginer to make, but any experienced leather crafter can also make up a stock of these card wallets to sell as stocking stuffers or to have an inexpensive option on your table at the craft fair. Enjoy :)

I love your tutorials , I just finished the tote bag with the brass rivets and burrs. Mom is gonna love it. Your partnership with Weaver helps me out on shipping costs under $100. Keep on keeping on my friends . Bob in CT

Thank you. I'm a disabled vet and saw some leather working stuff at hobby lobby. I thought I might enjoy doing stuff as a break from my own head. Maybe even make some gifts.

Great tutorial and I'm making it right now. Just a comment from one video creator to another: Do you have any idea how many times you use the word "super" in this ten minute segment. Something can be easy. You don't have to append "super" all the time.

....hmm...I'ma try using my 3/4" punch, since I have a dainty 4 ton clicker press...then cut the outside edges to match them up? The middle's going to be cut away anyway, so that might work...?

Can you explain your process in striking your pricking iron? For me it always seems to get stuck to the point where I'm struggling to pull it out. Am I hitting too hard? Is your strikes going all the way through?
@Corter

It does sound like you're punching too hard! With practice you can feel right when you've got through all the layers, I'd say just practice punching in scrap leather and get that muscle memory going :)

The Canyon Rose on Weaver’s website starts at 10 to 12 ounce. Did they split it for you or will they be offering lighter weights in future?
@Corter
@Corter 3 жыл бұрын
they have a splitting service! We have them cut the hides down to 11" strips and split those to 3 oz and 5oz, so you can get multiple weights from a single hide if you don't need it all the same weight. It's only a few dollars extra but you do have to call to order it that way :)

Hi ! I just started out leatherworking as a hobby so I appreciate your videos ! Beginner question , why do leatherworkers cut from so far away of the edge of the hide ? I am referring to 0:43. Could we not simply align the template with the edge to save on material ? Thanks !

So how does one really make leather products for a living? The market seems so saturated that it just seems so hard to get started. It’s hard to say make wallets because everyone makes them and the big company’s can make them for much less then you can. I know your one video talks about solving a problem but how does ones do that and keep going or finding a problem that has not been fixed. Thanks for your videos keep them coming.
