Thank you!! I have been searching for a beginner video that is well designed for newbies, covers tools, provides a template (free is great but I'd happily pay and will look at your acrylic templates as well), a source for tools, and is as clear and basic as your video! ASMR is not what I'm after so thanks for NOT being one of the many of those...Looking forward to finding more from you.

Made this wallet tonight using your acrylic template and while I’m not as experienced as you are it still came out pretty nice. Using a nice new blade is crucial to ensure nice clean edges. Your templates are highly recommended they are quality. I have another one of your wallet templates and it is also fantastic.

Wow, amazing, you've upgraded to tokonole and aqualim. I did the same. The water based glue works almost as well as that nasty rubber cement. And I think tokonole works much better than gum trag. Thanks for the free pattern btw.

Yeah Ive been slacking on the Aquilim for a little while just using the standard "leathercraft glue" from Tandy. However getting those plastic spreaders was a game changer now I wont go back.

I’m a beginner, and this video is so helpful! Forgive me if this is a dumb question - why do you mark your stitches with hand pressure before punching them through? Could you save time by punching the stitches in the first place, or does this leave too much risk for error?

I still get confused with needle size. I use a 004 (really, my package has the two zeros) John James Saddlers Needle for .6 mm Ritza 25 thread. 002 for .8 and 1.0 mm thread. Not sure what a No. 2 needle is in terms of size and comparison. Every one has different needle sizes. Weaver has 16, 17 and 18 needles. This should be easier than it is.
@MAKESUPPLYLEATHER3 жыл бұрын
Completely agree! My package has the two zeros as well. I could probably size down but I didnt have the 004 on hand.

A very nice design! I’m curious about this glue. At around 6:55 you don’t apply the glue to both sides all over. I can see how it would potentially make a mess along the nice folded side. But isn’t this a contact adhesive that needs to be on both sides? Or can it stick firmly when only applied to one side. If so I am interested in ordering some. I use Ecostick 1816b which is the strongest I’ve ever tried but it needs to be applied to both surfaces.
@christechguy2 жыл бұрын
He’s using aquilim 315 cement, that stuff is wicked strong. Wouldn’t matter much if he just did one side or both. As for cleanup it’s easy to clean because of it being water based a little bit of water and scrubbing it’ll come right off the leather.
@randomscandinavian60942 жыл бұрын
OK, thank you! Although wicked strong and comes right off the leather sounds like a bit of a contradiction. ;) I have hears of this glue but they don’t sell it here where I live.
