Luckily when I bought my 2007 vortec MAX it already had the GM performance cold air installed. I bought it two and half years ago. The guy was almost 70 years old and retired. It had 52,000 miles on it when I bought it. When I popped the hood I asked him when he had that done. He said the dealer asked me if I wanted anything done before delivery. He told them to put GM running boards, mud flaps and whatever else they think would be good. He asked me if that pipe was that factory. I told him no, then he said hold on I have a box that I got with the truck when I picked it up. Had 3 brand new cone filters in it. Guy was so OCD with it, I lucked out with it. Also 5k miles before I bought It from him, he had work done at the dealership. Gave me the paperwork for 4 new 20” BF Goodrich KO2’s new GM battery, front/rear differential fluids along with the transmission and transfer case fluids. And new A/C and serpentine belts. I paid good money for it but it was worth it all day. LTZ package and dash with sunroof also.

Run the hose from the coolant reservoir to the radiator underneath the breather tube. Cleaner look! Nice kit tho. I love that body style. I had a 2012 Silverado that I put a 2012 Sierra bed on it and painted it to match the rest of the truck. I just like the lines of the GMC bed better.

Unless the truck is tuned. An cold air intake does nothing except sound, and to get a true cold air intake cut a hole in your fender so you get true cold air.

You were correct. Just bought a K&N after deliberating between it and the Cold Air Inductions system. The K&N build quality was poor. Seams didn't line up, lid didn't fit well, and flashing appeared to have been hacked off with a steak knife. Not happy after paying $600...

Note that the silicone tube would have a lower thermal conductivity than the K&N plastic tube. That silicone would work in tandem with that thermal coating to ultimately keep the intake air cooler (not heat up as much) as it goes through the tube. My assumption would be that tube is functionally superior to the K&N tube.

Clean that throttle body and disconnect the battery to reset the ECU often. The reset is important. Cold air intake with an aftermarket exhaust youll get the most out of the intake. If you bring in more air you must get rid of more air.

i sold my K&N because of all the little holes in the filter element i couldn't see the filter stopping any small particles from entering the intake.

Hey I just got a 07 Silverado 4.8 I’ve noticed my transmission temp has reached 220 degrees so I decided to add a little transmission cooler (Hayden 678) and it seems to work but now and then I notice it gets to around 190-210 degrees going around the city with idling at traffic lights. Is that okay normal or should I be worried? Thanks
