I actually really enjoyed the challenge of researching a bunch of content-specific games to try to put this list together. I wish there were more games like Memoir ‘44: deeply enriching and accessible to children, but with time I’m sure I’ll hear many more recommendations.

My favorite educational games are the ones offered by Genius Games (like Periodic, Cellulose, Cytosis, Subatomic) and the Trekking Through History and the World games. We homeschool, but without curriculums.

Yes, I am willing. In fact, in the time since I made this video I started homeschooling and I just submitted an application to start CC. Give me a little time though. This video required a LOT of research to find the games, play the games…

Was halfway through suggesting Memoir '44 after the war section, until it hit during the WWII section. The scenarios in the book do a nice job of giving the historical context. Also - most of my kids geography knowledge these days come from pulling out all our Ticket to Ride expansions.

I’ll be making at least two more homeschool videos in order to complete the curriculum for my friends. I’m going to tuck the TTR rec away for next time. That’s one people don’t necessarily think of as educational

Is that a video game? The iOS games you saw on this video are just adaptations of board games. Sometimes I use app adaptations if I don’t have access to a hard copy of a board game.
