I got a scarlet rot ash of war called “the poison flower blooms twice” or something like that put it on the dry leaf arts it’s pretty damn good😂 the ash of war triggers scarlet rot, and the weapon causes poison build up, so those 2 combined with you rapidly attacking is amazing chip damage, and if you wanna just play defensively and run away after poisoning them you can. The ash of war also has a unique ability where if you use it on a enemy that’s already been poisoned or has rot build up, they take a damage proc, as if it was bleed or frost build up. The animation for it is sick too, it’s a dive kick. So aesthetically it suits the weapon really well. I already forgot where and how I found it but I’ve been having a blast with that combo

You can get to the dryleaf whirlwing ash of war without beating the boss in the shadow keep. Instead of going through the front of the shadow keep you can keep going through the hole in Moorth Ruins where you get the Golden Arcs incantation. You'll come to a ladder further down that brings you out in a different area, just keep going forward on the path visible on the map and you can get to a back entrance to the Shadow Keep. From the back entrance you can weave through the Shadow Keep and come out at the West Rampart and continue from there.

I made a Dryleaf + Rellana Swords build. Mostly for the cool and fun factor, but it’s actually pretty good. Changed Dryleaf’s affinity to Cold, which is similar to bleed. It gains B scaling for intelligence, and C for STR and DEX. Which pairs super well with Rellana’s blades. This turned me into a knight who can use those 2 cool swords, but also switch to hand-to-hand combat whenever I want. Very fun!

When you double jump at 5:37 it actually increases the amount of damage you take because fall damage is calculated by time in the air not the distance you have fallen.

Dryleaf has been such a fun addition. When I first saw this in the trailer I was hoping for it to be playable and good, and man it didn’t disappoint. Recently went in NG +1 with it and in 4 attacks Radhan was down, with him doing no damage at all to me. Absolutely shreds.

I've found that Palm Blast isn't a skill that's meant to chain in with your attacks but it's one hell of a stagger critical hit replacer. You charge that thing fully up with the right talismans (Alexander Shard, Godfrey, etc) and I've found to do a lot more damage than a regular stagger critical hit. I only wish that the Palm Blast and the Divine Beast Frost Stomp both counted as Storm skills then it would work out wonderfully for a build I'm working on. I'm trying to find the right blend of hand to hand and a Storm build using the new Lion Dancer Head/Storm Magic talisman. I've come up with some things and it's still a work in progress but it's certainly possible DLC late game and can be powerful.

choose Braggerts Roar WA for its extra buff + change on heavy that will proc the elemental since the normal attacks have an amazing speed and the jumping attack that also hits pretty nicely. the Raptors Black Feathers armor gives extra jump attack dmg

You can do what I do! Use *both!* My build is a hybrid of Rellana’s blades and Dryleaf Arts. I change between the two on the fly, and it’s easy to pair them together. (Plus looks super cool) Maybe you can try running both as well.

I infused mine with a cold infusion it’s pretty nasty for talismans I use the rotten wing sword, axedanders shard, the blessed dew for a little regen on my mana and then the shattered stone talisman which buffs stomp and kick attacks. For the armor I use the rakshasa armor which buffs your outgoing damage at the cost of taking more damage. For stats I went 60 into str dex int and vigor then the rest into endurance and mind. If you wanted more damage you could swap belled dew for Millicent prosthesis

This is very similar to my build, except mine uses cold. Here’s a few extra tips to take this further! 1.) The turtle shield. It gives you passive stamina regen speed, and all you need to do is just have it equipped on your back. Very handy on this build. 2.) Shattered Stone Talisman. “Raises potency of kicking and stomping skills”. I’ve been using this one a lot. I don’t know how it compares to the Shard of Alexander, but it’s good to know about. My kicks stun enemies a lot, it could be thanks to this talisman too. :)

I will say Dryleaf more than likely has a faster hit rate, with steadier numbers. So far the only beast claws I've found are basic claws, and the red bears claws (which is a legendary weapon, so no buffing or ash of war). You can customize the basic claws, but the unpredictable movements of the claws don't really seem to benefit basic PVE much. As far as I can tell anyway.

both have a 15% increase in damage. shard of alexander buffs ALL ashes of war while godfrey icon only buffs chargeable ashes and spells. there really is no reason to pick godfrey over shard unless you use charged spells. the question is rather if you use godfrey instead of another talisman. if you use palm blast then shard + godfrey icon offers the best damage. godfrey icon has no effect on whirldwind as it is not chargeable. so shattered stone talisman would be the obvious pick instead.

Fixed my own problem. It seemed that when the DLC dropped some of my character's data got fucked up, and I had to fix stuff with Cheat Engine. The game thought I had no whetstones even though I had all of them.

You may be missing the whetblade for that variant, it’s the Red Hot Whetblade I believe. (you find it in Redmane Castle, near the Abductor Virgin)

Is going all in on Faith and Flame Art worth it? Figured it would probably put you at a disadvantage against Messmer and going Cold instead would make it easy to proc given how fast you attack. I noticed the footwork has slower animation speeds, theoretically with the kick talisman it would do more damage but it also leaves you more vulnerable during bosses based on my own experience.

I'm thinking these two may be better in a boss fight since I won't be doing much combo hits and benefits from Rotten Winged Sword Insignia...and the Shattered Stone will benefit both whirlwind and jump R2 kicks I suppose? If so it should be better than Shard of Alexander which only benefit the whirlwind skill. Does anyone know the damage % increased comparison?
