The divine bird greaves boosting kick damage is a cool feature but I wish they had better fashion for a martial arts master moveset. It's not necessarily optimal but when I spec for Arcane I like to Poison infuse the Dryleaft Arts and have the Poisoned Hand as a sidearm to do the whole "Poison Hand/Dim Mak" trope of classic martial arts media.

One discovery I found is that if you have Dryleaf arts in one hand and Footwork in another (or vice versa) your jumping L1 becomes jumping 2H R2. This gives you the option to use jumping 1H R2 AND jumping 2H R2 without needing to swap weapons or switch to 2H. If the poise bug comes gets patched, it could be a cool mixup for pvp. But for now, I find that it makes the moveset really dynamic and flowy.

I’ve been using poison infused Danes Footwork with The Poison Flower Blooms Twice ash of war and I’ve gotta say, this is one of the most satisfying and powerful weapons I’ve used in this game. The poison buildup is insane, allowing for constant use of the empowered ash, and the ash itself has scarlet rot buildup for you to apply whenever you’d like, sometimes I’ll just double up on rotting and poisoning an enemy and keeping it on them while I switch to another weapon as this weapon is in my offhand. It’s truly such a fantastic and fun utility tool.

The backhand blade running attack is a little silly, BUT it has the benefit of basically not stopping your run at all which makes the most sense to me like… if you’re going to do a running attack where you spin around like that, you’d want to do it on somebody who hasn’t noticed you and then just keep running LOL slice and run.

Against human sized enemies you feel like IP-man smacking fools around staggering them. A bit rough against larger foes who resist your staggers, but running heavies, whirlwind and the BIDEN BLAST can help with that.

Absolutely the best youtuber for anyone that likes to tinker with their own builds, you're doing gods work homie. Can you do a detailed smithscript breakdown next? i've been messing with them on different stat set ups and they're super interesting. Movesets are crazyy unique like the dagger and cirque have feint attacks, if you charge up the 2nd paired R2 it throws them overhand instead of from the side. I've noticed the cold infusion seems to scale harder with int than most weapons as well. I'd also be really interested in their numbers involving status application.

1:25 they actually work awesome one handed in your offhand too, either as a faster melee option than your main hand, or on a caster as your sole melee option for when you don’t have time to cast.

I'm not saying they're bad as caster options, just you won't run the infusion often as most people would do 2-handed moveset. It's a no brainer for int/faith to run the magic/flame/sacred infusions since that is already your stat spread. Nothing much to think about either cause same attack rating.

I personally almost never use the light attack, as the uncharged heavies are just as fast but they do that satisfying AOE that seams to connect far more consistently as ether it has bigger hitboxes or longer reach at least seemingly. Also the running heavy into the jump heavy into normal heavy is really great flow. And most of it is kicking attacks if one is to use the boosting gear for that. I don't know what the exact values for status buildup is but I am running it in blood infusion and even though the number seams low somehow they prock bleed far more often than I would expect. At least it looks far more often then other weapons that you powerstance (excluding the running and jumping attacks from curved sowrds and twinblades ). Is fromsoft doing something different with the paired vs powerstancing weapons status buildups I wonder?

When fighting big enemies you can also quickly ramp up your damage with kick whirlwind if you use rotten sword insignia or similar effects. End up dealing a lot more damage than spamming palm blast, imo

This one is pretty simple: 1. Staff of the Great Beyond is the best Int/Fth staff from 25/25 to 60/60, after that the Prince of Death's Staff is stronger. a. It'll always be weaker than the Golden Order Seal for Incants, however it can also cast Sorceries giving it flexibility that the GoS lacks. So yes you do lose some power, but in turn you get a MUCH more versatile spell Casting tool. 2. The Maternal Staff is better for Bleed buildup with the Thorn spells, but is weaker than the other Arcane scaling Staff until really high levels. Admittedly I'm not as knowledgeable on the second one since I haven't done a proper Int/Arc build.

I like using the blue fairy talisman for these weapons. If you use the Stone Heart transformation, you get 10% damage negation even without any armour, and I've tested that this setup does noticeably more damage than using the chicken leg armour. I like to infuse the footwork with bleed, use the shattered stone, rotted winged insignia, lord of blood exultation, and blue fairy talismans, though I might swap out one of these for a defensive talisman in some fights. I use Golden Vow and either a negation incantation or boiled crab to boost defensive capabilities. This is my dragon martial art setup.

Ive been using them for pvp and Dane's footwork heavy is good but they can passive poise the 2 first hit and more part of the time the heavy 1 hit will get poise. Altough the jump heavy and running heavy are pretty good! Great video as always Chrightt!

Currently Flock’s canvas, along with the Golden Order/ Miquella’s crown do not work in PvP to buff their intended spells (Flock’s hasn’t buffed any holy damage spells in PvP since launch, hoping someone can get the information out into the public eye)

I've heard somewhere that poison infused dane's footwork setup works really well with the Poison Flower Blooms Once More AoW. Does the PFBOM count as a kick since it hits the enemy with our feet and thus boost the damage of the AoW even higher while the enemy is poisoned? Also Great video as always. The best reason to get dryleaf arts first is because it, unlike danes footwork, is missable. Gather it before the npc gank battle if you want it. You have access to either from the beginning of the dlc.

Whips have never been the most meta weapons, but I think they've always been usable. I think the poise damage changes that happened a while ago definitely favor the whip in PVP.

i feel like one the main draws to powerstancing these two really just comes down to getting the paired moveset _and_ footwork's 1h heavies, because _damn_ if those single kicks don't got weight that the doubles unfortunately lose from their acrobatics granted, at that point you might as well just offhand a catalyst, shield, or whatever rp weapon you think best fits your character, but this weapon class as a whole seems best fit for style anyhow so taste is really the primary factor here which makes it unfortunate that neither can be buffed, because _imagine_ those kicks with trails of fire or lightning, hot damn

I've been using the footwork with poison flower blooms twice and it smacks, then I also use the fist with bleed and whirlwind after I proc the poison 3 times on a boss

New weapon types like light greatsword and hand-to-hand arts do not have additional PVP poise damage multiplier in game atm (forgot which one but there was a patch that made all the weapons do more poise damage in PVP). It is definitely a bug that will be fixed because new weapons added to old weapon types have the multiplier (i.e. Fire Knight's Greatsword has this PVP poise damage multiplier since colossal sword is an old weapon class).

It should be mentioned you can’t put weapon buffs on these like grease, spell buffs or ash wars. There is one exception though and that’s shriek of sorrow which works on hand to hand to boost AR.

Am I the only one to think their damage is underwhelming? A friend of mine tried to use dryleaf art when they looted it and he told me he was doing pretty bad damage overall. I tried a new game plus with Dane footwork with a proper build (shattered stone, Alexander jar, Millicent prosthesis and turtle) and even on the early bosses I felt the difference of damage
