You left out of your review how long it would last while powering things. I would love to know how long it could run say a fridge or mini fridge. Some people have life-saving medicines that could spoil in the event of a sustained power outage (such as might happen with a hurricane).

He said it was 3.84 kWh capacity. How much does your fridge use per hour and do the math.

@@randymoffatt5634 Sure but by that logic he could have just provided the specs and we could have all done the math for everything in the video. I just meant it would have been nice to hear those observations as long as he was just trying things out. I get your point tho.

@carlosfuentes5422 There are plenty of videos with people running household appliances off of these things, but it will all vary due to the draw or amount of amps required.

The add on battery integrates perfectly. As long as you ignore the huge cable. Does this seriously. Not have a connector that it docks on? Maybe a shorter cable with right angles?

Very cool technology Ryan and great video but curious as to just how often power actually goes out there in Cali for you guys, that this kind of device would be used in...

California is a mess...so yes, the power goes out a lot. California is the state that lectures the other 49 but can't even keep the lights on during the summer.

interesting... so any idea like how often? Are we talking like power going out monthly and when it does go out, how long does it typically take for the power to be restored?@@TrendyStone

@@sidzhottake Search “California rolling blackouts”. The state is run like a developing 3rd world nation. Regulations prevent PG&E from upgrading infrastructure…yet the politicians in CA (who created the regulations) criticize them for not upgrading infrastructure.

I certainly wouldn't waste all that battery power during an outage by using a dryer. Hang dry your clothes! It's better for them anyway.

First thing he said is that they sponsored the video.Remember that and he did put some things in their "best light". He didn't say how long it would take 400 W panels (that he was getting 330W out of) to recharge, probably because it'd take all day, if not into a second.

What kind of controllers does it have? In order to connect it to network, would be very important to evaluate those capabilities and whether it can detect the direction of current flow. It kind of feels like a paid add and not a real review

This is confusing. Clicking the link I just see that it only ships to certain countries with some tiers (no mention of what those countries are....is Canada included?) and all of the pledge/purchase links are greyed out with no way of selecting anything. This would have been a perfect solution but looks like it's once again something I won't have access to.

Time to toss out the idea of optimizing the angle of a solar panel for max output. 1974 is long gone. Panels are cheap! Throw down panels flat on the ground, at 45°, at 90°. Or set the panels up vertically facing east-west. We've got to let the deeply ingrained belief we need to coddle the super expensive toys to max our investment. Labor and frames cost bloody more than the panels now.

Portable power stations are absolutely NOT a viable nor safe option for charging an EV. The Chinese made. lightweight, high frequency inverter tech on today's market that is used in these portable power stations, (and they're ALL Chinese made) are not only short lived and offer a weak surge capacity when compared to conventional off grid inverters, they can also be dangerous. You'd be lucky to get even two years of service from these inverters, especially when powering high inductance loads like full sized refrigerators, large power tools, EVs, portable AC units or large microwave ovens. The reason for this is that all of these lightweight, high frequency inverters lack a very critical component. That critical component is an iron core, copper wound output transformer. Without an output transformer to act as a buffer to absorb electrical surges provided by the “Flywheel Effect” inherent in the physical amount of a transformer’s iron, these surges and damaging reverse voltage spikes must be handled directly by the inverter’s MOSFET transistors, essential shortening their life. You might be able to start and run some high surge loads when these high frequency inverters are new, but every time you fire up one of those inductive loads, you're shortening the life of the MOSFETs in these inverters. Lightweight, high frequency inverters run much hotter than low frequency, transformer-based inverters which makes the low cost, off spec, Chinese made components such as capacitors, diodes, resistors and ICs that are used in these inverters, far more prone to early failure. Another major consideration with these lightweight, high frequency, transformerless inverters is safety. All it takes is for the AC output monitoring circuitry to fail and one of the MOSFETs in the inverter's H-Bridge circuit to short to ground, and these inverters can send dangerous, high voltage, high amperage DC current straight to your connected AC loads, including your expensive EV which will not only damage most AC appliances but can also set those AC appliances on fire. Another consideration that is never mentioned by those high frequency inverter hucksters, is that the vast majority of these inverters are non-repairable. After the warranty runs out, you're not going to be able to ship these units back to the manufacturer in China and have them repair them. And at a typical shop rate of $125 per hour here in the US, with no schematic and limited parts availability, it won't make economic sense to even attempt to repair one of these units. Once the FETs have fried and have burned a good portion of the inverter's PCB, (And trust me, sooner rather than later, they will fry.) they basically become a brick. Poor man's technology at a rich man's price. A much better choice would be to invest in an inverter or power station that uses low frequency, transformer based technology in its design. Low frequency inverters can handle high surge loads for at least 3x their continuous rated capacity and they can do this repeatedly, without sustaining damage and without damaging your EV or appliances. That's why the big name brand inverter manufacturers like Schneider Electric, Outback Power, Sigineer Power, Victron Energy and others, all use a low frequency topology in their offerings.

Uhhh, yeah, it's great, but, not so much at only 25 Amps of maximum current output it isn't ! 👎🏻 The EcoFlow Delta Pro can do 240 Volts AC @ 30 Amps of current, and outputs 7,200 Watts of power if you string two of them together in split phase mode. *The new EcoFlow "ULTRA" can do 120/240 @ 30 Amps and 7,200 Watts IN ONE SINGLE UNIT.* Conclusion - The *Anker SOLIX F3800 is simply not good enough.*

Neither the Anker Solix F3800 or the EcoFlow ultra are good enough when it comes to safely charging an BEV. Neither one of these high frequency, transformerless solar generators possess a UL-1741 safety rating. All it takes is for the AC output monitoring circuitry to fail and one of the MOSFETs in the inverter's H-Bridge circuit to short to ground, and these units can easily send dangerous, high voltage, high amperage DC current straight to your connected AC loads or EV which will not only damage most EVs and AC appliances but can also set those AC appliances on fire.

@@solarcharging9743 Correct ! These units are built for location power supply and "so-called" home backup, yet, are grossly underpowered in their basic current handling capabilities. At least with the EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra, you can connect two of them for a real 50 Amp output, or use their newer smart panel and connect three units to get 75 Amps of current handling, which is much closer to the basic 100 Amp home service of most houses these days.
