I drive a non AC commercial van and deliver goods for a living in India. I've been using my AE1200 as daily beater for past 5 years without any problems. It has faced many harsh dusty summers to heavy rains in monsoon and it functions just as it did on day one. This casio model looks absolutely great, I think I know what cheap and reliable casio to buy next.

One of my favourite things about these cheap watches that you did mention is that you can clean them with ease, this is so good and extremely convenient for every day use. I no longer use watches that can't be cleaned under the tap, as it is an issue of hygiene.

I swear by the light screen version of this, which is even easier to read. A Casio watch gains 1 second a day, and the seconds can be adjusted to zero at any time. The buttons are excellent.

These little watches are more versatile than lots of people realize. I get having an expensive watch as an investment piece, but that leaves few names and extremely high price points.

I just bought a new one could because I’m an idiot and got my old cover in super glue haha. The W800H is great! Like you said very slim and light, does everything I need a watch to do. I wear mine with the face on the inside of my wrist and it’s still very comfortable. The blackout version looks really cool.

I really liked to negative display. I have normal one. I have a 91-w as a daily beater and some Mudmaster G shocks and this watch and Casio Royale. I liked your edit and found so underrated. Anything Japan made is GOOD never forget that !

Huge 3 letter day, huge time, huge y/m/d. , Snooze alarm signal and on top of that its black back and wite variables. And they light up mild green. You wont give away position checking mission timming. Anti glare band. 100 meters and its slim slendee but something on your wrist. Hands down best performing watch. James bond would wear this. Or Egsy from Kingsman

Also, it's cheap enough that if it's contaminated or the band breaks for whatever reason, I'm not kicking myself over it either. Pure workhorse watch.

I own one since 2016, I have had change the strap 3 times. And ironically the cheapest way to have the original strap is to buy the W-800H again and change it lol. (I change the strap because my watch has engraved with names on the back).

Cons: you didn't think at -as you say- but it lacks a timer: the main flaw for a quartz watch. Btw: I own one so I know what I'm talking about. And, yes, besides the timer, I like it and I would reccomend.

Bit late reply, but in case you read this: if you're handy with a soldering iron you can add a timer in a couple of minutes simply by unsoldering a jumper: I just finished doing it to mine this morning following this tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2qrgK2sjMSel9Usi=58M4WiZUOcJkr_de after which this video auto played.

I totally believe in many tools for different jobs, this watch would serve someone who needs a good piece of technical equipment but don't want to spend much. Automatics do need to be maintained, and solar will only be as good as its internal battery. I do have a dollar gshock from 2006 that still runs great but YMMV. This rates ten years with the same, easily replaceable worldwide battery. Now having a Rolex not just for time but for insurance, that's a different game altogether.
