no, not really. they’re attached near your rear hip, which makes it really unlikely for you to get tangled up in it or trip.

Just shows how funny and unrealistic that kind of fight is. :D That was my main issue with olympic fencing in general. I love the sport but no offense... 95%of those "offensive manouvers" would do no real harm to true opponent.

that's the point... it's a *sport*, these actions are all geared around scoring a point, not trying to actually hurt your opponent or self defense. People who want self defense go into a self defense class, not fencing
