I loved seeing both Will and Justin's expressions and animated movements, while taking about what they love. We want more!

THE BLACK CAT and DETOUR are two of the best films to come out of Hollywood in the ‘30s and ‘40s. The censored footage from the former is one of my holy grails.

So cool to see this. I was friends with Shirley Ulmer, Edgar's widow. She co-produced a video short of mine that starred the son of the lead actor in "Detour." Tom Neal Jr. also starred in a remake of that film before his untimely passing.

Honestly, everyone that hears our voices for five seconds can easily conjure the visual of our two generic bespectacled nerdy faces.

Funny that I google "edgar g ulmer," and the first thing I see is Will Sloan's face. But of course.

Forgotten, exiled from the studios, thrashed by the producers, mistreated...the professional and personal life of Ulmer is sad, dark and gloomy. But he showed everybody with the minimum budget could create fascinating stories, strange atmospheres and disturbing worlds, and the most important: never boring. My Top 10 of him would be (chronologically): The Black Cat Blue-beard Strange Illusion Detour Ruthless The Man from Planet X St. Benny, the Dip Murder is my Beat Beyond the Time Barrier The Cavern

BLUEBEARD with John Carradine is one of his best. Strange Illusion, Detour, Man from Planet X, Strange Woman, Black Cat, and yes the silly Daughter of Dr. Jekyll. Most are in the public domain and available right here on youtube in good quality. Imagine what movies he could have made if he hadn't stolen someones wife and banished himself to poverty row?

Ruthless (1948). apparently these guys never saw it.

It was a very good approach to master Ulmer. I only wish, Mr. Justin would be less frivolous and not laugh so much...

de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_G._Ulmer#/media/Datei:Edgar_George_Ulmer_plaque.jpg (If only the gentleman on the right hand side would not laugh incessantly, even when talking about the most tragic moments in Ulmer's life. A deplorable case of light-hearted half-heartedness, so to speak.)
