I think it's important to clarify that if you are rejected on a hard search the company doesn't report the decision only that an application has been made regardless. I'm a credit underwriter and we have people saying they do not want a rejection showing on their credit file. However do note that if a creditor sees a hard search but no new account opened around the same time then you can deduce they were rejected.

Hey Andy, in your experience how long before we see another Platinum Boost Welcome Offer? It's a tough decision between Platinum and Gold for me, but i would get alot of use out of the Platinum Benefits. I'm also about to spend a considerable amount in the next few weeks on Travel i'd like to get rewards on. I don't fly BA much so the current boost offer I can't see much gain in. Any Insights be much appreciated!

Everyday cashback card is offering 5% cashback up to £2500 for the first 5 months. If you have big spends, such that you can frontload those 5 months, then over the course of a year, you will massively beat out Chase's 1% cashback. £125+ vs £30 is a no brainer

Could someone let know if i have understood this correctly. As a first time AMEX holder, its best to apply for the nectar or platinum cashback card. This will allow you to collect the new joiner bonus. Afterwards you can then apply for AMEX gold, and you will also be eligable for the new joiner bonus ? However, if you still have the nectar card, would you have cancel this, wait 2 years and then apply for the AMEX gold to be eligable for the new joiner bonus ?

No, you won’t get the gold bonus if you’ve had any Amex in your name in the last 2 years. But you will be eligible for the Platinum or Ba Premium Plus bonus

The Amex site is now saying for the Nectar card that by getting this card "I understand I will not be eligible for any Welcome Bonus award if I hold or have held any personal American Express Cards in the past 24 months", am I misunderstanding this or have their criteria changed since your video?

ive never had a credit card before and i keep trying to get one but it recomends not aplying as *rejection likely* I only have 502 credit score and its been stuck there for AGES :( But would the best option be to get the gold card to get the welcome bonus then after a year downgrade to the blue reward card and just keep that? but then il not be able to get the boosted platinum but not sure if il ever get it due to the high fee. thanks anyone 🙏🙏

I had the american express british airways premium plus card for a year but have just downgraded to avoid the annual fee. In a years time can i apply for the same card to receive the welcome bonus again as it will be 2 years since I applied for the card initially.

I took your advice last year and went with the Nectar card last year to get the bonus. I've found it great and still shop at Sainsburys so making use of the 3 nectar points per £1 spent. I am coming up to the point that I will have to pay £30 to keep the card, what would you recommend that I get now? Or shall I stick with the Nectar card? Thanks.

No you can’t. But you can get a welcome bonus for the British airways Amex card if you do this the other way round

Ere stupid question why have an Amex card in the first place, what makes them better than others? Whenever we’re out with friends who have the Amex card all I hear when they try to use it is sorry we don’t accept Amex. Amex merchant fee charge is more than that of visa and mastercard and will eat away more of the retailers profits, that's why a lot of places do not take Amex.

From what I gather. You only get your rewards/cashback at the anniversary of receiving your card at that point, you would be liable for the fee!

It varies by card. Though for those that pay after a year (platinum cashback) you can cancel within the first month of renewal so you get the bonus
